Re-texture Your Old & Polished Climbing Holds

Save money on climbing holds by (1) making them last longer & (2) buying old used holds and bringing them back to life.

Im also retexturing some holds that i bought from a gym. They are also super polished. I used polyurethane exterior paint and also applied sand. I used a second layer to lock the sand in after reducing any aggressive abrasions. I made the second layer a bit thin to let the texture bleed through. I'll add another comment if the holds happen to work without peeling.

Yes. Please do. Thank you for the input. I thought of some acrylic paint with hardener, but wasn't sure if it would bond with plastic.

I have tested the holds today and even did some dynos of the same retextured foothold to see if it would peel. They are holding up pretty well. I found that some were still a little abrasive (mainly some crimps that have a line in the middle of it where sand seemed to collect a bit more, nothing sandpaper can't fix)
