Wow. Now that you describe it, I can understand why the announcement of this show made you break down against them. They're repeating the EXACT same mistake they made with Fred-taking short-form internet content and stretching it out to a full TV show, just because they want to cash in on something that someone else already made popular. THIS NETWORK REFUSES TO TAKE RISKS. We should NOT have complained about Problem Solverz as much as we did-that show was a risk. NETWORKS NEED TO TAKE RISKS. Avatar was a risk. Doug was a risk. Ren and Stimpy was a risk. Rocko's Modern Life was a risk. Clarissa Explains It All was a risk. You Can't Do That On Television was a risk. Danny Phantom was a risk. H2O was a risk. 100 Deeds for Eddie McDowd was a risk. Are You Afraid of the Dark was a risk. As Told By Ginger was a HUGE risk. KaBlam was a HUGE risk. Oh Yeah! Cartoons was a HUGE risk. To be fair there's always been series on Nickelodeon that were done more for business then just for the sake of making quality entertainment. As heck even some of the more classic cartoons like Catdog or Jimmy Neutron weren't really risks (I guess Jimmy Neutron was more of one if only for being the first CGI Nicktoon but still wasn't content wise any sort of risk). The problem is that they've stopped taking chances on shows. Heck Nickelodeon originally were the ones offered Adventure Time but turned it down because to make it like Pendelaton Ward wanted it would of been too much of a risk so they turned it down and Cartoon Network got it. And granted there are some CN shows on that aren't terribly risky (Teen Titans Go being the main one) but it still takes chances on a lot of stuff and is far more open. I mean would Nick have ever done something like Over The Garden Wall? I think not. Honestly the last real risky Nicktoon we had was Korra which Nickelodeon started treating horribly in it's second season and started doing terrible things to it. Everything after that though doesn't feel memorable or intriguing and just feels like trying to cash in on something cheap and popular. Same for their live action programs. Really not every cartoon needs to push boundaries or take chances to be good (honestly Phineas and Ferb never really did that and the show was solid) but you shouldn't be afraid or back away from the ones that are as those are honestly the ones that do wind up being quite successful. At the time something like SpongeBob was more of a risk that Cartoon Network didn't want but Nick gobbled up and look how well that turned out for them but yeah obviously not something they're really going for now which means a lot of subpar shows.

DianaGohan Another huge part of Nick's problem is that nearly every single modern Nicktoon is trying to be another SpongeBob. If it's not a spinoff of something already popular, it's a SpongeBob wannabe. We see this in Sanjay and Craig, a rather average show, and we see this in Breadwinners, the worst thing to ever air on Nick, and we see this in Fanboy and Chum Chum, one of the most hated Nick shows ever for good reason.

the thing is I really like the Fine Brothers, the people who are behind React To That. However I was more a fan of their original youtube series they created on their own. American Idol parodies, Last Moments of relationship, Dog Fucker (which you can't even find on their youtube channel anymore but is still on their blip) and of course Lost: How It Should of Ended. Heck even their "top 50 moments of the month" stuff is still pretty good as the two are funny personalities. But rhe react series honestly robs that away as though they set up the shots and ask the questions and get the people it doesn't feel likeir content. It feels like them taking videos and having kids react to them so their relation to that just feels so minimal. Heck at least when Fred got a show on Nickelodeon it was about Fred and you knew who he was and he was like he was on youtube. But this is about the react to that kids. Who honestly were cute at first but... the stuff worked more as well with them seeing either slighter ediger material or not just random youtube vids and seeing how they'd react to that. And heck I appreciated them expanding it to other facets which you aren't ever going to see on the TV show which triples the runtime and honestly sanitizes the content and the comments so it feels more forced and thus less funny. Honestly though since I'm a fan of the Fine Brothers and want them to succeed I don't want the show to die but yeah it is a sad point on how stuff like this may wind up taking a focus as it's a lot easier and cheaper to make. And seriously without Korra around a lot of their cartoons do look incredibly cheap. Even Spongebob and TMNT which are still their most high quality shows and... man is that not saying much.

***** I wouldn't they just go lazy as originally the react series was just one of the series they were doing inbetween more original sketch based comedy which they still do from time to time (they also had that MyMusic thing which was an entire production they were involved with but I never saw it so I don't know how good or not it was) and wasn't meant to be their made series. However it's the one that got really popular. Like "actually netted them money alone to just make that and nothing else and got them up to a billion views" popular. Thus it's the one they started putting the most time and attention to and the most focus on. And again I don't think it's that lazy but is very lacking compared to their original material.

I caught some of this show one day and even the kids on the show didn't even seem that into the videos that they were "reacting" to. They were trying so hard to show any reaction to these videos but you could tell they didn't care. One kid I saw on there was like "I've already seen this" and he goes on to try to be surprised and interested when you know he's not. Like why would you wanna watch this

You know, all these KZbin based nick shows remind me of an episode of iCarly called iCarly Saves TV. In that episode, a network executive approaches the iCarly gang and tells them that he wants to turn iCarly into a TV show, they agree and the rest of the episode consists of the iCarly gang getting more and more annoyed as the exec starts to remove all the things that made iCarly good to begin with. So I guess this means that the people in charge of Nickelodeon are not only idiots, they are also hypocrites

The thing I like about the React show (The one on the internet, not Nick's watered down version!), mainly the teens, elders, and youtubers react is the questions that they ask them at the end about what they watched, or the piece of technology they showed them, or game they played. From a Sociological perspective the teens, youtubers, and especially the elders give some really funny and interesting answers. Plus being on the internet means you virtually have no filter, so the elders, teens, and youtubers could swear if they wanted to, they'd still bleep them, but they'd still let them swear if they wanted to. But Nickelodeon took that away! I saw some episodes on TV and you're right they mainly have the kids just react to the video with MAYBE one question to one kid afterwards. Nickelodeon doesn't get that a lot of people watched the React show because of the interesting points of view the people gave about what they were shown, not solely the literal reactions they give as they're watching the video. Nickelodeon has been turning out so much crap lately I'm starting to believe their's some Breaking Bad style money laundering going on behind the scenes. I mean why else would they constantly keep burying the only shows that have good ratings (TMNT and Korra), and keep giving the other shows, whose ratings are in the toilet, even more airtime?

I actually saw a show like this (forgot the name) that pulled it off pretty well. It was a group of trained physicists that analyzed videos and determined whether or not they were real, and some of the stuff you could try at home in between commercials. Like one segment where a candle was lit, put out, and re-lit without touching the wick again.

The reaction series videos on youtube is usually interesting because you can see what random people from a generation have to say about a certain topic or thing. But just having the kids and just having them react to basically home video type viral videos is pretty dumb.

What's really the problem with React to That is that they took away what makes the React series so good. They don't just show kids videos and that's it. They ask questions related to that video, and we get to see their opinions, whether they be the kids, teen, elders, or the other KZbinrs. You get insight on how they feel about certain topics, sometimes really important and controversial topics, and it's really interesting to watch. When you take that away, it's just kids watching KZbin videos on television. It's nothing special, and it's nothing worth watching.

I have not seen React To That but I see another problem with this show. Elders React and KZbinrs react are allowed to show adult oriented clips. Even Teens React can talk about certain aspects of culture that is deemed inappropriate. Obviously React to That is restricted to whatever target age audience it is going for. The running time is an obvious concern. Videos on KZbin can be as long or short as they want to be but not a show on TV. I hope that this gets cancelled because if it doesn't then Nickelodeon might try to look for other things on the internet that won't transfer well to TV.

The react videos on KZbin don't have as demanding of a production schedule as TV. Ignoring the React channel the current schedule involves one video from each of the 4 react series being put on KZbin once every two weeks.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm very sad that iCarly was probably the main cause of all this happening to Nick ever since the show first came out back in 2007. Personally, I've liked the show since I was 11 when it came out, but I never realized it until now that it pretty much forshadowed what the network would become. It saddens me that now I can't think of iCarly in the same sense anymore due to Nick just being obsessed with dropping quality shows like Legend of Korra and placing in crap like this, AwesomenessTV, and Breadwinners. :(

Yeah, there was a time when Cartoon Network just relied on live actions shows (aka The Dark Ages of Cartoon Network), I think it was like 2008-2009. The shows were like "Dude, What Would Happen" and "Destroy Build Destroy" where the first one was a cheap rip-off of the Mythbusters and the other was literally people destroy like a bus and try to rebuild it (but we know the actual people didn't and another construction crew did) and do stupid challenges with that car. Also JOHNNY FRICKIN TEST!!!! >:( Now things are better with the occasional "Incredible Crew" or "Level Up" (which both sucked) but Cartoon Network actually is a cartoon channel and not some live action piece of crap. Like some of you mentioned "Fred" it seems that if you take a show from KZbin and make a show on Nick or CN (Annoying Orange, Breadwinners) it either never works out or just has really bad episodes and plots, some KZbin cartoons are good like Cartoon Hangover or The Modifiers that should be made into shows unlike some back corner pilot like Breadwinners with cheap animation! - Jack Turner

...I have to ask. What of Teen Titans Go was canceled and instead Cartoon Network bought Spongebob from Nickelodeon (because the executives were all high one day) and you'd have to go to Cartoon Network to watch Spongebob? On the while, the show only aired 2-4 times a day because the other shows on Cartoon Network actually are really good and Nickelodeon just died soon afterwards... all the while cancelling episodes like One Coarse Meal or Stuck in the Wringer because associating themselves with such crap would degrade how far they've come from importing Canadian cartoons.

Why did the Fine Bros. think it was a good idea to let Nick "borrow" their concept? They're not going to make any money off of it because React to That is going to go away as quickly as it came. Just cheap stuff to keep the network alive for as long as it can until something happens. Maybe getting replaced by some other Viacom channel or getting taken over by someone else.

I love the React series on KZbin but not React to That. The KZbin episodes usually only show them one video per episode and then asks the kids/teens/elders/Youtbers what they think about it about it and it goes into more detail. The focus is less on the commentary while watching the video and more on what they think it means and how they feel about the messages. And sometimes it deals with the generation gap and social issues which is cool. React to That is just boring because you don't really get that there.

I agree with pretty much everything here, except the comment about KZbinrs not being able to make things as awesome as Avatar. There are a lot of really good animators on KZbin. To name a few: The Winglet, Duo Cartoonist, etc.

I liked the react series when it came out however many years ago, when it was Kids React. But a TV series? How do you turn a 5 minute video into a TV series? I can't see a channel ever doing that. *Remembers Breadwinners* ...Oh. Well, now we know how it'll turn out.

The epilogue of season 6 blatantly referenced Overbooked and The Splinter and subtly referenced The Slumber Party. The epilogue of season 7 blatantly referenced One Coarse Meal and Walking Small and I don't know what the subtle reference is.

I used to watch the [Blanks] React videos by the Fine Brothers. I don't know why, but eventually I stopped watching them. I did hear their announcement about a show and I just thought, "Ummm...okay..." I don't even have Nick so I didn't check out the show, but kind of like what you said, it feels weird and a bit redundant to the React videos that the Fine Bros are still producing on their channel.
