I got a friend who never brings her wallet if we have at least one guy in the group when we go out as friends. Cos she young and chio. Pretty privilege 😂 But ye i would split so as not to owe the guy anything. Those who insist to pay for dinner would then suggest a 2nd place for coffee or dessert then i pay for that.

Paying for the bill is a mutual thing. If in old times, most feels the guys should pay. However, times change. At times for a guy to pay is not because of a symbol or something. Is just being a gentleman since is the guy whom ask the girl out. Sometimes splitting the bill is ok too. Times have changed. Going dutch is ok.

My pov is that there's like a culture difference between asia and us. For what i acknowledge is that US has more of "guys must pay first" to show they are gentlemen etc. But they do rant too like " omgad i just wasted $30 on a useless date" when they dint actually have a great time with them etc. While Asia is like" i dont want to owe anybody anything" / "ok,make a good impression of themselves cause i like he/her". It dont matter who pays. As long as both party are having a good time, whoever pays is fine. Ex: Lets say me and my gf goes out, we having a good time, and im willing to pay for the bill it dont matter cause as long as we are having a good time its all good. Emotion and vibe is important. Whoever pays in the first date is just a plus point.

Besides the 1st one, the rest of the TikTok videos are just beginner level of toxicity. *I have came across TRASH who are worse. Tell me who is the MOST TRASHY one?* 1. Playing hard to get and only replying text once every 2-3 days and meet up once every 3 weeks and asking me how much I liked him blatantly - turned out he already has a girlfriend and his girlfriend knew about me but he told her it was "for business reasons". One day his girlfriend insisted to meet me with him, so he brought another guy along just to pretend it's a double date. I only knew of the girlfriend that day. 2. Pretending to be 9 years younger than his actual age and asked me to be his girlfriend. When I found out about his true age later, he said he was just taking a bet with his friends and wanted to hang out with my female friends (I was in college back in those days, he was 32 but pretended to be 23 and no one could tell!) 3. Trying to be a gentleman and acting like he is very rich by placing his BMW car keys on the dining table in restaurants, taking off his jacket and tie and folding the label outwards to make sure I see them before he casually walks to the washroom - turned out he was smoking every time he goes to the washroom because I told him I prefer guys who don't smoke and 2 out of 3 times he asked for the bill and shove it to me asking "Do you want to split the bill or do you want to foot the whole bill?" in a dead serious tone and facial expression. I had a glass of iced lemon tea, he had a big English breakfast set, a dessert and a drink. Not to mention I wasn't interested in his branded goods in the first place. 4. A guy told me how much he likes me, being all genuine and kind, treating my family and friends with respect and then a few months later told me "I like how you look, but only from your nose up, the rest needs to go" (while pointing to my mouth, jaw, chest area, hips area). He then stopped texting me and I did not text him too. Later, he got the audacity to ask "So have you given it a thought? I will date you again if you can change those parts I mentioned." On a brighter note, I am now happily married to the 'other guy friend' from the double date in Scenario #1 above! :D

Personally, I will pay for the date for the 1st two dates but here is how I tell if the girl is genuine. If the girl wants to pay or split on the 1st date, I know she is genuine but I will insist in paying. If she expect me to pay, she is either a gold-digger or a princess. Being princess when we are dating is fine BUT not during the 1st date when I barely know the girl.

First date, guy should pay as a sign of interest. Girl should insist on paying if she is not interested. Subsequent dates, should take turns. If the guy is always paying, something is wrong. Going Dutch for every single date is just too tedious and 计较.

I do think for the third advice is like the basic purpose of attractions, based on the push and pull rules. like for the sake of how to give people percieve you as. Like when you go to the some new place and seeing someone new...., would you more attrated to the people that are more available or the subtle kind unavailable type???

Those tiktok vids are really toxic. If you really like someone, why would you put them through all that? Cheat on them, don't give them attention on purpose etc. All these are really the opposite of love. For me, if you love someone, treat them well, communicate well, respect one another, be in a healthy relationship.

Going Dutch doesn't progress towards a second date in my experience. Guys covering the bill usually plays into attraction and chemistry.
@kuehmerlion3 жыл бұрын
As a guy, I would always offer to cover the entire bill on first dates - because of traditional societal expectations. Interestingly enough though, from my own experience, the ladies who insisted to split/go dutch after my offer, ended up being the ones most willing to meet me for second and subsequent outings. And I still remembered candidly that one of them even joked about not going out with me again if I didn't let her pay her share - we actually went on five more dates after. 😂 Whereas the ones who simply took up my offer, would shortly go radio-silent on me or drops hints that they weren't interested to meet again. =/

For the paying on the dates, if I was the one who asked the woman out for a date then I would pay. When I was asked out then she would pay or we split the bill. If we actually start a relationship, then we would take turns. But, that is just me.

For me, a guy pays because we want to portray a symbol of gentleman, and not a picture of being stingy. I can imagine how would a woman thinks if they picture a man as stingy, and normally I do not think the relationship will step further than that date. Of course if the woman insisted, I would pretty fine. But a man shouldn't starts with a date to demand a split of bill or asking the other to pay for it.

It is better to be practical in SG. All dates start with honeymoon period confirm. It would be good for the couple to set their expectations the sooner the better if they want to get serious in the relationship lor.
