You should listen to the DVD (the official) instrumental version. This is a fan edited one, which ain't bad, but not nearly as clear as the DVD version. Plus, you get to see them all play it. Credit also to Miku, who heard this song as the surrealistic, but tragic story Night on the Galactic Railroad. The lyrics are dense, but seem to be the meditations of Giovanni on the death of his friend Campanella.

Easily in my top 10 band maid songs, maybe top 5. Kanami likes to use lead guitar as “texture”. Many musicians complain she’s not loud enough in the mix with her constant melodic lead but that’s the point. It’s not supposed to drown out the vocals. I still think when doing Unseen world Kanami had a big Faith No More and Mr. Bungle listening session.

I like your thinkng! Or at least it matches mine; other perspectives are welcome. Seems like lately "Giovanni" is really rising in the fan-favorite category. And while I agree with the opening-act-for-Foo-Fighters-tour sentiment many have expressed, at this point a Band-Maid/Faith No More double bill makes more sense - although either would work, just depends on which parts of their repertoire B-M would emphasize in their set list. Maybe we should just all wish for a Band-Maid/Faith No More/Foo Fighters tour. As long as Grohl doesn't steal Akane to replace Taylor.

I ❤️ this song! I think we as musicians can try and pick out every detail without listening to the song as a whole. When I listen to it as a whole I really enjoy the quirky vibe and Saiki and Miku’s vocal interplay and the attitude coming through when Saiki kinda sing/says “there’s nothing I can do to help you”. Also, as with other songs on this album, the more you listen, the more you’ll like it! 😎

My favourite Band-Maid song. The instrumental seems to be more popular, and it is certainly a lot easier to hear everything in that version, but I find Saiki's vocals add so much to the song. The different styles she sings in gives each section its own flavour.

This is a good blend of groovyness of "Manners" and chaotic prog feel of "black hole". The band has improved their song writing skill from the last album. Then they naturally use that skill to write "Corallium". Bravo, Maids.

Band Maids newer music is more of a sonic journey, stories really rather than just songs. Sounds good no matter what they do.

This was a fan made instrumental, you can't really hear Kanami's guitar. There is an official version (with video) that is awesome. I really like both versions, but the instrumental is killer, my second favourite behind 'Onset'.

Every song on Unseen World can stand alone as an instrumental. The level of detail and execution on each song is amazing. Almost every song on the album is very proggy when you strip off the vocals (I love both versions). Last, this is a custom instrumental version someone has made with software. The official instrumental does not have The Who-oo-oos in it. Great reaction. I yelled out loud when you said you were going to an instrumental version.

This is my 2nd favorite song after Manners from Unseen World. Progressive is right - and I love it. And it's really cool to listen to the instrumental versions of all the songs that came with the scorebook - you hear all kinds of shit that you didn't before. Too awesome.

My guess is that youtube compression doesn't know what to do with the controlled chaos and just murders the soundquality. The instrumental sounds like the vocals were removed by software instead of a rip of the instrumental Unseen World CD that comes with the Unseen World scorebook or the blu-ray/dvd that comes with the limited edition CD of Unseen World. You can still hear parts of Saiki's vocals if you listen closely. It does still help with hearing the instruments better though with the exception of the crazy guitar part Kanami is constantly playing since it's quite high pitched and parts of it probably gets removed by the software as well. Listening to the instrumental CD of Unseen World the first time was eye opening for me. It is just crazy to hear how much stuff they put in those tracks that are buried by the vocals until you know they are there.
@stevehall51282 жыл бұрын
yeah, at the end you can hear the bleed-over of the backing vocals, or maybe just the reverb from them. Weird, because it sounds like male tenors singing in the background.

One of their strangest most divisive tracks :) Lots of people love it - but it takes a while to grow on lots of fans- they dont 'get' it for a few listens. p.s Dunno what this muddy instrumental version was but its not the real one. You want to find the the one with the white background- one of the albums had lots of songs filmed in instrumental with shots focusing on each band member and also the whole band- they are really cool! And you get to watch them not just listen.

The instrumental sounds more flowing than the vocals almost like it was written as an instrumental.

That instrumental must either be an upload from the CD that came with the scorebook or an audio rip from the DVD/Blue-ray from the limited edition of Unseen World. Edit: Went back and listened to the actual one and yeah this is not right. You guys have better ears than I do.

One of my favorites from the album, just brilliant songwriting. Inspired by "Night on the Galactic Railroad" (銀河鉄道の夜, Ginga Tetsudō no Yoru), a classic Japanese fantasy novel by Kenji Miyazawa written around 1927. You can get an overview at wikipedia.org/wiki/Night_on_the_Galactic_Railroad. There are a number of adaptations, as anime and stage. Your instrumental sounds muddy, like someone used software to remove the vocals; there are better ones (ie. the one with the fantastic four against a white background) but not an official upload or on youtube (but maybe someone can send it to you).

Replying to myself to say - After you've heard the instrumental a few times, go back and listen to the original with vocals. You likely will hear more now that you know how the pieces fit together.

@@surfingasongwave 100% agree on both points. After getting a feel for the story (I watched the anime version) and also a close viewing of the official instrumental, Giovanni really came together for me, and now it's one of my favorites of Band-Maid's entire catalog.

This is a real Band-Maid song. Like no other band or genre. You need the fully instrumental CD that came with the Unseen World Score book. This is a classic example of Kanami's soloing backing guitar. There so many ex musicians who have got back to playing since listerning to Band-Maid. Wave and Ryan are but two, who are brilliant musicians, but because of the dull repetitive nature of so much rock music these days just lost interest. I got a drum kit because of Akane and try to copy some of her more simple fills etc.
