When they perform this song, there’s a moving Alice in Wonderland type background (giant toadstools, etc) that moves right to left, so it looks like they’re walking/traveling across the stage. Very fun!

It’s a cover on an indie guy Cosmo Sheldrake. I listened to the original and ofc I think Pentatonix brought it to life. I read a quote that Mitch said he still doesn’t know what the song means. It’s just fun & great voices. I’d love to see your reaction their cover of My Favorite Things from the Sound of Music. Again it’s upbeat & fun but also has a more intricate set & there’s some choreography (they hardly ever have any choreography). Thanks for this reaction. It really is one of my favorites ✌️💚

I usually put that quote in the comments but I had other things I wanted to say so I was making sure someone did it for me. Thank you for doing it for me. Mitch starts by asking if there are any chior nerds in the audience and that they are choir nerds. Then he says the next couple of songs are choral inspired. Then he says the things you said. Pentaholics are always in the job!! Cool!

In live concerts they have a huge projection behind them of a bright psychedelic jungle or garden of weird mushrooms and plants, as if they are tiny wandering through. It's kind of cute and reminds me of concerts in the late 60's and early 70's. Very Alice In Wonderland-ish.

This is part of PTX's genius. I have heard/seen the original indie version once and wouldn't bother with it again. But PTX spotted the potential within and elevated it to greatness.

The original (which I just listened to for the 2nd time to remind myself of how Cosmo arranged it) is downright dreary. Same tune (ish) but slower by a significant margin and just ... grim. Plus this insanely long lead-in which is mostly percussive and just off-putting. I have to call it the same song because it's the same tune and the same lyrics, but they couldn't be further apart, emotionally. Well, they could, but ugh. There's certainly nothing "high-energy" about it.

This is a cover not an original, but as usual, Pentatonix really makes every piece they cover feel unique in their own special way. Their ability to arrange a familiar song and make it sound totally new with their incredible vocal ability never ceases to amaze me. As a funny aside, I first heard this song played in a television commercial and really didn't care for it at first thanks to how absurdly overplayed it was.
