Led Zeppelin IS and will remain the greatest rock band ever! All four members were at the very top of their musical positions just before its inception and remained so all through Zeppelin’s 10 albums and beyond! We’ll never see another band like them and that’s why they’re still played on the radio all over the world 25 years after their break up!

I'm glad that young people are listening to this song. I was first introduced to Led Zeppelin when my guitar teacher taught me Stairway and lent me the album in about 75. Love your reactions Verdy! Your awesome! I feel the need to give some love to the bass player, The great John Paul Jones! He's playing the organ on this one. Often the bass player in a band is a bit overlooked and considered more of a background player but "Jonesy" was every bit an integral part of the mighty Led Zepplin as every other member of the band. Just listen to his organ playing here. There are times during the song where he is playing the bass pedals with his feet with the same inflection and rythem awareness that only a bass guitar player would, while simultaneously laying down a beautiful bed of chords and lines that really outline the whole melodic structure of the song for Jimmy and Robert to vamp over and he does it without getting to busy or getting in the way. He is not only a great bass player but just a brilliant all around musician. Keep your great reactions coming Verdy! You are a joy to watch!

He and Bonzo were the anchors no doubt. JPJ gets way too little credit for their success IMHO, he and Bonzo had the rhythm locked down so tight it allowed Robert and Jimmy to perform their magic. He's still kicking and in form, check out the "playing for change" version of "When the Levee breaks" if you have not already. It's a collaborative video by players around the world studio mixed in a very professional manner. That is just one song that features JPJ, there are others produced in the same fashion.

Great reaction ! New subscriber here. You are absolutely right about listening to LIVE performances. Led Zeppelin was never a studio band and never performed the same song the same way twice . They improvised a lot , which is completely lost in a “ studio version “ Remember, this was in a time where auto tune , pitch control and none of that crap didn’t even exist yet . What you heard is what they actually performed. Extremely talented and gifted artists , masters at their crafts , using their instruments and amps 😊 Also Robert Plant’s story telling skills would be completely lost in a “ studio version “ . Blessed to have grown up with this music back then 😊

This is cool if you think about it. What is happening here is I am giving my reaction to your reaction of a performance. It’s a reaction within a reaction. Very interesting for sure. This is great because you can actually react to this song several ways. You can play the studio album with or without the lyrics. You could play the video they put out for the song. You also can see the live performance. I like these ones the best. The sound isn’t always the best ( Led Zeppelin had good recordings so they are really good in their case.) Anyway you cut the cake this stuff is freakin awesome. You are really approaching these vintage songs with an open mind and that’s the key to appreciating any song you listen to for the first time. Let the music touch your soul..MUSIC. One of the only things left in this world that aren’t partisan or divisive.
