@@migek sam had leukemia and the only medicine for it was held by fedra. henry turned in the leader of the rebels, kathleens brother in in exchange for the medicine. so he didnt physically kill someone, but was responsible for it.

I think Henry and Sam were done a lot better in the show vs. the game. Perhaps its the performances of Lamar Johnson and Keivonn Woodard (who were absolutely brilliant), but I just felt more genuineness with their relationship in the show and I felt more empathy towards them given they really were just kids operating in a world they have no idea how to really survive in that much. Henry especially, he is a hell of a lot more endearing in the show than in the game where he seemed a bit too hardened at times towards Sam and he was a mixed character overall for me. Their deaths hit so much harder because of this. Pretty much every change to their characters in the show I wish were done in the game originally.

I respect your opinion, but I disagree for one reason. I prefer the game version because of the scene leading up to Sam turning. The one where Henry, Ellie and Joel are sitting around eating the night before. The conversation about riding a motorcycle and Henry asking Joel to describe it for him. That scene always stuck out to me. I understand they can’t include all the lines from the game because it’s not plausible. That being said I’ve loved the show so far and think it’s the best game adaptation to this point

Making Sammy deaf was almost...sadder..in a way. like when I saw he was deaf I IMMEDIATELY started crying. The anxiety was so much more profound. I'm loving all the adaptations they have been doing so far. I avoided this episode for days because I knew what was coming. Henry was a lil hard on Sam in the game..I remember he got pissed over him wanting a toy they found..Ellie of course took it for him anyway but then.. well.. we all know what happened before she could give it to him.. This part made me walk away from the game for a few hours.. I just couldn't handle it.

@@chesteradams7423 I would for sure say better. Henry, was a character that took awhile for you to like and trust. He was too overprotective of Sam in more of a toxic way where he wouldn't allow Sam to be a kid and it made Sam such a downer of a character. Plus Henry wasn't really the individual to really trust either, he was an opportunist. In the show, Henry is shown to be kind-hearted all the way through and tries connecting to Joel this time, you can tell he really likes Joel and Ellie's company. He is protective of Sam in a way that actually makes sense and isn't toxic since he is 8 and deaf, he is way more vulnerable. He allows Sam to be a kid without being so harsh and it makes him way more likeable as a person. Their dynamic in the show represents what Joel and Ellie can be if they open up to each other more and like Bill and Frank, they represent that there are still decent people in a world like this. Plus, Henry being 100% honest, helping Ellie when she is in danger (its cool to actually see it in the show), and seeing his vulnerable side makes him a lot more loveable. Lamar Johnson's subtle comedic timing was also lovely to see. As for Sam, Sam was a backseater the majority of the game and didn't contribute much when it came to gameplay. Everyone else had a job to do besides him, he didn't even try to fight anything despite being nearly identical in age to Ellie. Given Sam is way younger, practically a baby, and vulnerable due to his deafness, there are now actually practical, sensible reasons as to why he isn't aiding in combat or anything. Plus, Sam being more of a symbol of hope in the show vs. just being a complete downer in the game is always a plus. Plus, how open he was with Ellie and feeling comfortable with her made their dynamic a lot sweeter and more important than how it was perceived in the game. You have a better sense in the show that Ellie is always going to be haunted with Sam's death given she was a "big sister" to him in this version as opposed to just being a friend. Sam being this joyful character and being so vulnerable with Ellie is one of the show's greatest strengths. The show is hammering home way more than in the game that no matter how these kids can hold their own or are surviving decently well, they're just children. It's not because of recency, the characters are just better written in the show. The symbolism they have in the show is a lot more relevant to Joel and Ellie's journey, just like how Bill and Frank's dynamic in the show is subtly clearly changing their dynamic. It's great to see black characters in media who aren't stereotyped as being constantly depressed, defensive, are backstabbers, have anger issues, etc. As far as I'm concerned, the changes were totally worth it.

A brilliant change from the game was showing ellies reaction to Henry's suicide. In the game we watch Joel's reaction. In the show, Bella did such a great and realistic reaction and showed the viewers her unfiltered emotion. As someone who has lost someone go suicide by shooting themselves, this was important to show the world because it's extremely common unfortunately and a slight insight to mental health. Henry's state of mind in that moment...non of us could possibly understand. And this isn't the average world, this is the apocalyptic world of the last of us where everything is harsh reality

When he said, through his tears at 5:50 " See, I didn't want to see this again". WHEN I TELL YALL I FELT ALLL OF THAT😭😭😭. My son had to BEG me for a few days after to watch this episode cuz I knew what was to come and I just couldn't handle it.. That part in the game BROKE ME! After the first time I watched this happen in game any time I replayed it I made my husband do it cuz I had to leave the room. It was ALMOST as bad as TWD when Lee had to kill that boy... Ducky.. That kid favored my son and they were the same age.. Being a parent and having to shoot a kid is just.. idek the word for it.. My husband was about to come home from work because i literally couldn't stop sobbing..I wasn't crying I was sobbing. I never fucking played that game again lol. My son has epilepsy so him being hurt or dying is literally in our face daily. So when kids get hurt or die.. it just hits me a little too hard.

I played both of Last of Us game and how they handled the scene of Sam/Henry’s death was super sad. In the game Sam wasn’t deaf and the fact that he was a little boy in the show made it much more of a tearjerking scene.

They are actually your partners for a good lil amount of time sadly it ends the same but you find them first and as for the way out and the context of why he is being hunted is vastly different he is in a group not that big that are trying to escape and so they team up for a bit and you do go through a sewer portion in the game so that’s probably where the tunnels came from as a reference to the sewer levels and then somewhere along the line sam gets bit turns in the morning and the scene plays out almost the same Henry grabs the gun first looks at Joel with the “no tf you don’t that’s My Boy” face and then has to yk but yea after that the next few moments in the game it’s quiet like how it ends not saying much either and I think she does tell him srry can’t remember for sure

I love watching all these reactors. I think it's safe to say that the vast majority of us are fans of the game(s) and of the show. Like Lupa from YaBoyRoshi and many of the reactors, it was just hard to see Henry have so much grief and then take himself out...especially if you already knew what was coming. I think it hits even closer to home if you have a sibling in your life you are protective of, and then you are forced to take them out in the same situation.

For me this hurt worse than the game version. In the live action version you actually get more of a backstory with Henry and Sam so we get more invested with what happens. I like that they are giving characters from the game more time so we could know more about them before and after all this happened. Also the bloaters are scary more scary than the game. I can't wait to see how the rest of the season will go.

Actor that plays Henry was just perfect! The shock when he realized that his first kill was his lil brotha was just heartbreaking!! The lil kid was awesome with that scene with Allie the night he turned! What was chillin to me when he started asking himself was “what did I do” was just heartbreaking and gave me chills! There's a lot more details to those scenes that most don't pick up on which I think is interesting. 1. Ellie doesn't want to make Sam feel better, I think she truly thinks it works. She is a kid born after the outbreak, where vaccines are nonexistent. 2. Sam didn't attack her in the morning because he turned-self didn't know she was in the room. Being turned and deaf makes him not the best infected. He wouldn't pick up on sounds and can only use sight and touch. So Ellie touching him got his attention. What a fucking incredible episode.

As a fan of the game, i went into the series with an open mind and wanting to see how they do it. Do they add things, change things around and keep things the same. They did all that and more and i was happy about how the first season came out and excited each week for episodes. I enjoy watch most reactors on both sides (those that played the games and those that didnt) to see their takes and many of them were fun to watch. Shows and movies based on video games should take note on how to do an adaptation and make it work.

The impact of this scene hits as hard in the game. My only wish is for Henry taking tbe gun to his head and killing himself as quickly as he did in the game. And I'm talking about "in a blink and you'll miss it" situation because in the show you know he's gonna do it, in the game you really didn't know if he was gonna kill Joel or not

In the game, you kind of get the feeling something is wrong when Ellie talks with Sam. He never revealed to anyone that he was bit. Then the scene ends with Sam alone, revealing only to the player that he was bit. The player knows what's coming, but still didn't expect what happened to happen so fast. Then all of a sudden, you're in the next area as if nothing at all happened. You're just left sitting there, in shock, still trying to process what the hell even happened. It is such an effective moment in the game and I urge everyone who is watching the last of us series to compare this scene to its video game counter part. Both are done differently but carry the same weight of shock.

The acting of all of them in the last scene is powerfull. way more hard that the game. Didn´t felt the same way in Sarah´s death though

I know what's going to happen. But they change things here and there in the show.. so I still hold out hope that maybe the outcome will change... but it doesn't. And I cry, every time.
