I really appreciate these tutorials, as someone just getting into scene nodes, it's nice to see some more advanced examples of what's possible with this feature. In future videos, would you consider including more detailed explanations for those of us without a programming background? I would love to truly understand the *why* instead of just the *how* , especially when it comes to iterating over points, building arrays and assembling splines. I must admit, that part went mostly over my head.
@realruckli5 ай бұрын
Glad you like it. And yes i always try to improve my explanation skills 😉, sometimes a bit difficult because i‘m not a master in speeking fluent english :) . I can recommend learning some programing basics when you like to dive deep in scene nodes, at the end its nothing else than visual programing, same with xpresso.

@@realruckli which programming language should I get into, in order to understand xpresso and scene nodes logic?
@realruckli20 сағат бұрын
@@noise2539 it doesnt realy matter, the one that you can provit the most of. I can recommend python, processing or java script. The base concepts are in all programing languages the same

How do I get the object to appear in the render? When I render it doesn't show up (Octane render)
@realruckli5 ай бұрын
Im not a octane guy, so im not 100% sure. But maybe there is also a solution via octane render tag. Otherwise you can sweep your splines

Thanks for the great tutorial! I have a question: is it possible to limit the edge node to generate only selected edges?

Yep of course. I added an aditional example file to gumroad. have fun :)

@@realruckli Thank you so much for adding an extra example file on Gumroad! I really appreciate it and can't wait to check it out. 😃

This is absolutely crazy. How the heck did you figure all this out? You have a deep understanding of Nodes. Question: Is there a way to have lines only generated from front facing polygons? I know rocket lasso sells a spline plugin that does this.
@realruckli5 ай бұрын
Yes of course, I think you have do delete the ploygons which are facing away from the camera first. Not sure, but i think there is a selection node that can do this. Otherwise you can calculate a dot product from the normals to the camera direction to do it manualy. Maybe i‘ll try this later :)
@realruckli5 ай бұрын
There was a selection node for that :) . I added the new scene file on gumroad

Thank you for the tutorial. as c4d does, 6 months later, the version im on already doesnt match what you are showing. 3:29 + 3:44 child doesn't show up and the setting menu to set scen as obj is gone/moved. edit, i also dont know anything about nodes to know where they might have moved things. 4:08 - geometry doesnt show as lines
@realruckli4 ай бұрын
Thanks. Yes scene nodes are still in developement, so stuff has changed. I'll check the setup and upload an update to gumroad
@christianmatts12114 ай бұрын
@@realruckli ha, i didn't even notice the gum road link. i was able to get it to work, c4d moved the scene port mode setting 3:33, which i think is what was tripping me up.

This is super cool. Unfortunately, still way too complex (I'm real beginner in nodes). Could someone recommend any useful examples that describes the logic of the whole thing?
@realruckli7 ай бұрын
Yes node systems are sometimes a bit hard to get in to. I can recommend the scene files that maxon provides, they are sorted from beginner to advanced. You‘ll find them in the asset browser. And maybe i‘ll do a beginners series in the future, but first i have some other things i like to release.

If it is possible for you to make a tutorial (from A to Z) for totally newbies with this C4D node system ?
@realruckli10 ай бұрын
Hi Philippe, I'm planing two new tutorials, but they are both more in the advanced range. If you can tell me where you mostly get stuck or what confuses you the most, I can plan to do a tutorial in this direction. A completely beginners guide is not planned at the moment.

@@realruckli Hi, could you do a tutorial on container data types. it's really confusing because as soon as we change the type the node turns red. For example with the Geometry Property get node, an array comes out of which I don't know what exactly the data refers to apart from the index. and if I use a decompose container and change the data type the connection line turns red. I wonder what all these types of data grouped by category can be used for, which I don't understand either. THANKS
@realruckli9 ай бұрын
@AmidouKOne-fv4br Yep it is a bit confusing at first, but if you get used to it, it is actually a really clever and powerful system. A container is usually a collection of arrays; for example all the distributions are containers containing for example an array for position, color, index, etz. You can access and write array data with the nodes "get element" and "set element". If you like to iterate over an array, you can do this with a "range" node in combination with the get and set element nodes. If you like to iterate over a whole collection, you can do this with the "Iterate collection" node, it gives you the same elements as the "decompose container", but you are already inside an iterating loop and don't have to iterate manually with the "range" and "get element" nodes. That's why the input and output ports look different. An array has these four small squares as port and a single value (or an already iterating value) a small circle. Maybe I'll do a simple tutorial about this topic in the future. But first, I have some other exciting ones in the pipeline, they are using both of the concepts mentioned above.
