@@jaymoney522 The problem is people are paying for Full Self Driving not assisted self driving. When you use FSD you still have to keep your hands on the steering wheel and be prepared to take over if FSD makes a mistake. There are many videos where even the latest version of FSD doesn’t work and the driver has to take over to avoid an accident. I don’t see the point in paying thousands of dollars when I still have to have my hands on the wheel and checking the road every second yet Elon has apparently convinced/suckered all the fanboys and fangirls FSD is the greatest thing ever.

That McLaren was well and truly wrecked, you can find photos of the wreck online, but because it's a F1, one of the rarest super-cars on the planet, McLaren does not let those VIN plates go to the scrap yard, they "rebuilt" it for him (replaced most of it). He sold it, at a profit even after the repair build, and it caught fire for the new owner two years later, perhaps an omen for things to come. McLaren again rebuilt it. The cursed F1 is still on the road today.

I'm a bit of a car person I have owned around 45 and driven and have worked on many many cars as well. I find the claim of a brand new McClaren suffering from a broken axel extremely unlikely, I would suggest that would have happened as a result of the accident. Also walking away from what sounds like a high speed crash uninjured where the occupants were not wearing seat belts is also very unlikely. Because McClaren F1s do not have any air bags so you are going to be thrown around inside the vehicle against hard surfaces, that's what killed Princes Diana Spencer.

All the rich liberal tree hugger types (I’m a liberal tree hugger myself just not rich🙁) have now got their expensive EVs and now Tesla’s major competition is from other car manufacturers selling their super expensive EVs as well. What is needed now is a cheap EV and a more available fast charging network. Whether Tesla can provide this or some other car company is the question.

Eliminating tariffs on car imports is an idea that deserves discussion. While American auto companies have a strong legacy, some argue that a lack of competition due to tariffs can stifle innovation. The influx of affordable electric vehicles (EVs) from China, potentially backed by government subsidies, presents a new challenge. However, it's important to consider the potential benefits of increased competition, such as driving down prices and accelerating technological advancements in the EV market.

I read the book. The author seems to be in awe of Musk. Musk's pronouncements on the future of mankind are described with reverence in the book as if God himself was talking through him. As an engineer, I've always found him rather ridiculous. Especially after hearing of his Hyperloop idea. His comment that cities with highrises are 3-D while the traffic grid is 2-D, therefore having tunnels crisscrossing cities on multiple levels forming a 3- D grid should be considered as a solution is utterly ridiculous. Also, the CSS videos expose the numerous aspects of his moon expedition that, I realize now after listening to Chris here, seem inspired from sci-fi comic books. One example among many is that behemoth of a rocket landing on the moon. Cool! But oops... it's 50 meters tall (about 16 stories) with the door near the top. How is an astronaut supposed to safely and reliably exit the vehicle and get back in? To be fair, Musk does have accomplishments to his credit. But they're due to his personality, not to his expertise in any particular field.

Yep sounds like you understand the book fully. It just depends on one's knowledge base. @@realchris Hadn't seen it, probably being a recent follower. I understand why you didn't read it completely. I was often irritated by the tone of reverence that, in my view, would have been more suitable for a major historical figure. But I persevered! You may not have reached the point where the emerald mine purportedly becomes worthless, someone having devised a process to produce artificial emeralds. His father later becomes so poor that he has to rely on a monthly allowance from his rich son to stay afloat. What’s a bit baffling is that the richest man in the world could only spare a few thousand dollars a month for this purpose (perhaps $2K, or even $1K, not sure, but I remember being aghast seeing the tiny amount). Musk’s father’s trajectory is one of riches to rags. We’ll see in the coming years if it’s a family thing. For all his flaws, at least Musk provides good entertainment...

As mentioned in my review of the book, the dad and Elon have different stories and I would take both with a grain of salt, haha. But it's clear his parents gave him money. My personal opinion is it's a lot more than they say in the book. It's when when you read through it he's getting significant help. As stated, we went to the same school, Univ of Penn, and I was around a lot of rich kids like him, so I know how these games play out. He's only a few years older than me, so we are of the same generation, so I remember all the kinds of things going on at the time too. I'll talk more about this in future vids.

The Ludacrous mode name comes from the star wars parody movie Space Balls and is suppost to be faster that warp speed and while in use the Empire overshoots the rebels they were chasing and make the sky go Plaid. So the model S Plaid and Ludacrous mode are references to a sci-fi comedy. Even Elon's name comes from the only science fiction book written by the Nazi scientist and rocket manufacturer Verner Vun Brown, Verner's dream was reaching Mars and his fictional book had a Mars colony that was ruled by a man named Elon. The love of Sci-fi fantacy comes from his upbringing. His parents and grand parents were technocrats.

Elon Musk's comparison of the Hyperloop to an air hockey table aims to simplify the concept by drawing a parallel to a familiar system where friction is minimized using a cushion of air. However, this analogy is problematic and somewhat misleading for several reasons: Difference in Operational Environments: Air Hockey Table: Operates in normal atmospheric conditions, using ambient air pressure to create a cushion of air that lifts the puck. This system is designed to work with air flow, which is abundant at atmospheric pressure. Hyperloop: Operates in a near-vacuum environment to minimize air resistance. The low-pressure environment is essential for achieving the high speeds proposed by the Hyperloop. The conditions required for the Hyperloop are drastically different from those of an air hockey table. Air Cushion Mechanism: Air Hockey Table: The puck glides on a thin layer of air, which significantly reduces friction. This requires a continuous flow of air through tiny holes on the table surface, something that is feasible in an environment with normal air pressure. Hyperloop: Uses a near-vacuum tube to minimize air resistance. In a vacuum, there is no air to create a cushion. Instead, the Hyperloop would likely use magnetic levitation or other advanced technologies to minimize contact friction and support high-speed travel. Friction and Resistance Management: Air Hockey Table: Relies on air pressure to reduce friction. The table and puck are specifically designed to operate with air providing the necessary lift and smooth movement. Hyperloop: Needs to manage both friction and air resistance in a fundamentally different way. The near-vacuum conditions reduce air resistance, and the use of magnetic levitation or air bearings reduces friction. These technologies are far more complex and advanced compared to the simple air cushion mechanism of an air hockey table. Technological Complexity: Air Hockey Table: A relatively simple device with a straightforward mechanism involving air flow and a flat surface with holes. Hyperloop: A highly sophisticated system requiring precise engineering, advanced materials, and complex technology to maintain low pressure in the tube, provide propulsion, and ensure safety at very high speeds. The technological challenges of building and maintaining a near-vacuum environment over long distances are significant. Misleading Simplification: The analogy oversimplifies the challenges involved in developing the Hyperloop. While the concept of minimizing friction is a common theme, the methods and technologies required for the Hyperloop are far more advanced and complex. Comparing it to an air hockey table can underestimate the engineering, financial, and logistical hurdles involved in making the Hyperloop a reality. In summary, while the air hockey table analogy might help in conceptually understanding the goal of minimizing friction, it falls short of accurately representing the complexities and challenges of the Hyperloop. The analogy is misleading because it ignores the critical differences in operational environments, technological requirements, and the scale of engineering involved. Thus, the comparison oversimplifies the significant difficulties in implementing the Hyperloop, making it an unrealistic and "stupid" analogy in a practical sense.

If you really think Elon Musk believes the "free market" principle, you are delusional. He takes all subsidies and tax credits from the government. Tesla and SpaceX would have gone bankrupt years ago without this help from the government. With that free market principle, both companies should have gone bankrupt. But, the big government swooped in and funneled billions into his companies. He only likes things that benefit him and his companies. Then, he pretends to oppose government subsidies. So, these tariffs are supposed to protect American auto manufacturers. Why would Elon Musk oppose? Maybe... there is something for him. Elon Musk (or Tesla) has A LOT to lose if he does anything that can displease the Chinese government. The Chinese government can literally take away everything that belongs to Tesla in an instant (factory and the whole Tesla China) if Elon Musk does or say anything remotely close to what he says about Biden or any individual/company/group that he does not like. He knows it. That is why he is always radio silent when it comes to China. And, the Chinese government knows that Elon Musk is desperate. Without China (biggest auto market), Tesla is really done.

Wealth from EV disciples and gullibles. EV has barely started and the wheels look wobbly. Short of a major boost to battery capability, the momentum looks gone.

The only reason we have had to put up with any of this is cheap money. They have finally set inflation off, which if you look to history, comes in waves, its not done. The west has kept inflation down for 30 years because it has shipped it to china in the form of cheap labour and goods. China can't absorb any more for us, no country is ready to take over from china, inflation is here for a while. Rates in the us don't work fast enough because they have 30 year fix mortgages. People have gotten used to the cheap money and are waiting for the first sign the fed will drop them. Once they do, because of expectations and pressure, people will go crazy borrowing and spend again and inflation will be off and running. Rates historically average 7% for a reason, thats the good range for rates, it doesn't make sense to lend money for less than that in real terms. Once people stop getting cheap money they will respect their resources more and stop speculating on idiotic assets with 10+ year ROI horizons. This period will be studied as ludicrous.

Not a chance, but the Tesla fan boys will happily hand over everything they own to the greatest grifter in human history. He will probably offer everyone a free car to sign up as so many are parked up waiting to be sold.

so 20 million people are gonna buy robo taxis every year and then who will be using these robo taxis to generate profits from all of these? would you like to think about that for even one second?
@nightshadowblade
@nightshadowblade 3 ай бұрын
As far as I understand it, the specialized Robotaxis will mainly be used by Tesla themselves for exactly the reason you mentioned. Maybe, just maybe, they will offer some to others to make a quick buck to get the mass production going quicker but I don't think they will sell them after that. Tesla will probably land somewhere around 10 million cars a year, not 20 million, but most of the money will be made by their Robotaxi fleet and maybe their Optimus Robots later on, in the 30s.

@@MrBillyFT For some reason my comment you answered to has disappeared. Yes, you will be able to use your Model 3, Y, S, X as a Robotaxi, once the service gets started by Tesla. You will be able to add your car to the Robotaxi fleet and make money with that. But what Tesla will present on August 8 is a dedicated Robotaxi with no steering wheel, pedals etc., something different than the regular customer cars.

Emerald mines and 22 minutes of I don't like Elon. What was I supposed to learn from this content? Are you saying Twitter won't add some banking to the app and that Tesla will never out sell Toyota? What are your predictions, put them out there and check back on them later.

Musk remains obsessed with volume, even as he has had to slash prices to achieve it. By the time Tesla is selling 20m cars a year, they will be losing $1500 on each one of them. He read the phrase "economy of scale" one time and thinks that all things become profitable once you make enough of them, and the inefficient way you're doing that doesn't matter because you'll be getting such a good deal on raw materials I guess?. He also thinks this is true at SpaceX, he's convinced that if he can get Starship doing multiple launches a day, it will somehow become so cheap that anyone can ride it, I guess in the future, thousands of tons of methane is free. Conversely, he also says he doesn't believe in "induced demand", when questioned about how his single lane tunnels would solve traffic problems when adding 4 lanes to the freeway has been proven to increase traffic, he called induced demand a myth. Well he also thinks "if I build them, they will come" when it comes to Teslas. So add cognitive dissonance to Elon Musk's list of problems.
