I never thought about taking care of my baby as productive. I feel like in my mind being productive is doing the dishes, the laundry, cleaning etc. but you’re right, doing stuff with the baby is being productive too! I mean really it take more energy than anything else I do!

I agree redefining productivity to taking care of your child is the most important!

Hang in there! My baby is 8-weeks tomorrow and we are getting a good rhythm going. I found that weeks 2-4 were a struggle because you're both still getting to know each other and trying to figure out which cry is for what, and your adrenaline from the birth has worn off and you're just completely tired. I find the eat, play and sleep rotation is working well. Once that baby starts yawning try and get them to sleep. The longer they stay up the harder it is to get them down later!

When I watch on KZbin what other moms do at home, I feel less productive about my life, I feel like I don't accomplish enough. I need to remind myself that taking care of my baby is the most important task. I encourage you to show more "lazy" activities in your vlogs, like reading a book or playing a video game, it's really importan for the mental health of the mother.

I love this... These were all very practical tips... Not just the usual.. Wake up at 5am, Make lamented lists, meal plan for a month... Lol. Those are all great too, but this was stuff that could work for just about anyone... Thanks!

I have a 9 month old. It's always a mad scramble to clean and organize while she's sleeping. I've embraced minimalism and it saves me time. There's much less to clean and organize and it's saving my sanity.

Our babies are so close in age! Yeah rook creates so much chaos right now lol. He just empties his toy bin whenever I fill it 😄

I'm always telling myself that it's ok to not do anything other than care for my baby. Being a mom is a 24/7 job in itself.

Thank you so much for this video! I was just wondering, are you still using the Ergobaby Embrace carrier for Rook? I’m expecting our first baby in October, and that’s one of the options I’ve been researching, but I wasn’t sure about the longevity of it since it has a lower weight limit cap. My husband and I are fairly minimal in our possessions and I’d like to avoid having five different carriers 😂

I still use the embrace sometimes but I mostly use the ergo baby 360! It fits him better at this age and works well for facing outwards. I would recommended just getting the 360 with an infant insert. It’s the most versatile 😊

Taking care of the baby is the most important. If you are hungry and so is baby: baby eats because her life matters more than your tummy wants. If you are holding and feeding baby and your nose itches: you can deal with it because the more important thing comes first. If you are tired and baby wakes in the middle of the night: you ask Embers & Ash how they got Rook to sleep through the night, and deal with it by waking up and being a good mom.

Do you happen to know if it's bad to let your baby "play" or sit in the highchair when they're not eating? I find that my baby is happy in the high chair for at least 10-15 minutes playing with his utensils or chewing on his bib but not sure if that is bad because then he doesn't associate his high chair with eating actual food.

Just a thought.. but you could call the video "parenthood" instead of "motherhood". Stay at home dad's or dad's taking paternity leave should be included. This video was so great and had a lot of good information that didn't exclusively apply to moms ☺️
@AshleyEmbers3 жыл бұрын
That’s a good point. I usually just resort to “motherhood” because I’m sharing my story as a mom 😄
