I'm debating purchasing a used UX or NX... thoughts?
@sammyt3514Ай бұрын
This would be the perfect car for my needs; I'm single and live downtown so the small size of this SUV is a major advantage. It also gives me access to the Lexus dealership experience (a major factor since the service you get at the dealerships of mainstream brands is different shades of horrible) and unbeatable reliability/longevity.
@janoycresnova9156Ай бұрын
Why do you need an SUV then? Go with a Lexus sedan or a coupe.
@sammyt3514Ай бұрын
@@janoycresnova9156 For the obvious reasons most people get SUVs; winter driving (it snows where I live) and higher ride height.
@janoycresnova9156Ай бұрын
@@sammyt3514I don't think you've really thought it through. Most people get SUVs for cargo space. The ride height of this UX is the same as a sedan. It's got a very underpowered AWD system. You're better off in a Lexus sedan like I said before. Much better choice and has better AWD. Don't fall for obvious marketing gimmicks.
@sammyt3514Ай бұрын
@@janoycresnova9156 You're misinformed; the UX is higher riding than the average Lexus sedan, which is enough to make it more capable in the snow. I'm not climbing rocks with it. Same applies to its electronic AWD, it's plenty effective for what I'll use the car for. I know what works for my needs; you need to focus on what works for yours.

Last year, I purchased my wife a Certified Pre Owned 2023 UX 250h Premium model with 9k miles for $34k. She absolutely loves it. She’s averaging 41mpg and it costs her roughly $27 to fill up from empty.
I own a 2021 ux250h. I’ve owned everything from the Lexus LS ES and RX. This is a fantastic car. Don’t listen to naysayers. Drive one and decide for yourself. Love mine and plan to replace with the us300h.
@Realistick27 күн бұрын
I don’t think many people actually dislike the car or how it drives (for the most part), it’s more about how impractical it is and how it’s hard to justify for a lot of uses.
@wackit6756Ай бұрын
I test drove a '21' earlier this year and I was appalled. The gas mileage was poor, at 5'8 the center console dug into my knee, seats were hard and uncomfortable, the rear seat and storage were bad, the Nav. System was confusing and abysmal, the styling was awkward. I think Lexus was confused on this car's mission. There were much better choices, ironically the Prius is one of them. But as always, a good comprehensive review!
@RealistickАй бұрын
Thanks! Maybe they improved the seats since then, I liked these (didn’t like the space either). Kind of a weird car for the money but for a specific person with a specific body type, it’s great😂

Back in the 2010's, Lexus marketed first a small hatchback and then a sedan that were mechanically just gussied-up Priuses at higher prices. Both had powertrains no more enthusiast-oriented or powerful than the regular Prius, and neither sold. History repeats.

It's making me feel like it's a Honda competitor inside ... Quality wise .. or what a 90s Toyota use to look like inside minus the tech... Definitely not what Lexus should be ... 😞

90s Toyotas had hideous plastics on dashboard with combination of brown grain and flat black. Corduroy upholstery that smelled moldy after a few years. The shifter had a bellow rubber to hide linkages instead of leather.

i own a 2010 RX450H (air suspension) and drove the UX250H AWD around 200mls. I was impressed by its much better handling and very much better suspension (much better damped). Very precise steering and overall comfy seating position. But in the end i was happy to get back my V6Hybrid. The 4cyl is a crying machine under some load and the trunk is to tiny. All in all its much to expensive....but all Toyotas are these days ! Perhaps i switch to a Mazda CX-60 with its new 3.3 inline 6 Diesel because even the new RX does only have crying 4cyl engines :-(

Making the more powerful yet also more efficient 2.0l hybrid standard has somewhat increased the value proposition of the UX. But it's still the worse vehicle Lexus sells. A more practical succesor is desperately needed.

From other brands, the Audi Q3 or BMW x1. From lexus, I’d say you get more for your money with a lexus NX. I don’t think the UX is a bad deal or anything. It’s awesome if you rarely use the backseat or cargo area but it’s hard to justify if you want a crossover that does crossover things!

I find the fact that Toyota put a SEVEN hp motor driving the rear wheels and called the car an AWD very funny. Perhaps lawsuit level funny. 7 hp is less than some lawn mowers... and to drive a 3500lb hunk of metal? They should've called it AWM for all wheel Movement or Motion instead of Drive because those 7 ponies sure aren't going to drive your Prius or UX250.
@RealistickАй бұрын
It’s hilarious but it still had a function. It was to help during low speeds (think getting out of a snowy parking lot)🥸
@anthonyng3014Ай бұрын
@@Realistick Thanks for the clarification and I'm honestly surprised to hear the 7hp AWD system actually accomplished anything more than tick the checkbox to label their car AWD. I guess 7hp is better than nothing but it's still a disgrace to all AWD vehicles produced.
@ruffmadmanАй бұрын
@@anthonyng3014you're right that the HP figure is very low, but it should be worth noting that in the situations this would be assisting with (low speeds in snow) torque is the most important figure, and Toyota's hybrid electric AWD motors have been quite excellent at that.
