That's true! I don't have a real heavy foot, I'm good with 75 down the interstate. .y Ram classic with the 5.7 Hemi gets me an average of 21 mpg and 6 days if driving on a tank of gas.

The cons are absurd. I’ve driven one from Louisiana to NC. The diesel is almost a second slower with exact payload of 10K lbs as the Ford in a quarter mile scoot. But, the launch and ride is far better an not a bad thing at all. The Chevy version comparably is unsettling from launch and struggles throughout the rev band. Again not noticeably to most. The second con mentioned is it’s off-road chops. I drove this in LongHorn cladding eco diesel optioned up into the Blueridge mountains and in some serious dirt fields and acreage after a massive tropical storm hit day before. (We drove in the storm on the way there to boot. ) bed full and had a gear rig in tow at about 8800lbs respectively. Unhitched on the land sight at 3200 ft. Above sea level and kicked in the 4x4 and went surveying and the truck handled flawlessly. Drove over a rocky clay creek and no issues. Caught some air over a gravel hill bump when descending the mountain and it was the final little burst of fun at the enemy of the day. This Ram had other options added than standard BigHorn models which is in the middle range of options but Huge sunroof , Largest touch screen , Ram boxes and full leather made this the best mix for me.....the owner. It was out the door 46K. The nonsense on it doesn’t have lane assist. That means if your too stupid to keep your truck in your lane then lane assist is for you. I never have a problem knowing where my truck is and what lane it’s supposed to be in when I’m driving it. The new safety tech is just bad ideas that nobody asked for or needed. That’s why Ford offers it standard . Ford drivers generally have no clue there trucks are drifting out of there lanes into others so;) Overall the Ram 2020 in any configuration is better than the F150/250 and the Sierra /. Silverado by miles. For the majority of people it’ll do everything way more comfortably with the nicest interior and best ride and tech of the three. Mttoty two years in a row and won three times beating Ford for the first time in 30 years in sales quarters 1-3 2018, 2019 and quarters 1-2 2020 That’s the real scoop here

Cannot understand why so many of todays drivers are into these electronic nannies. Lane assist, park assist, adaptive cruise control, etc. Huge amount of distractions on the small tv on the dash. If you want to watch tv, and play driving video games, stay at home on your couch. Unfortunately, these electronic gizmos are huge sellers, due to the fact that there are a lot of lazy, poor drivers out there. So, the manufacturers are going to build what sells. I do love the Ram 1500, and may buy one, one day. However, I am not a fan of all the electronic crap.

@@kennethgrutter9406 The 2021 has minor revisions but added power on the ecodeisel by a good amount over the 2020. Ram has the least as far as add on safety tech than any other brand. Where I’m from you don’t need lane keep assist or front collision mitigation. I want to stop , I press the brakes. I want to drive in one lane I simply stay in it. These trucks drive a lot like luxury SUV’s . Very similar to a Mercedes AMG as far as Mechanical feel and mass but, the interiors are versatile picking whatever suite or package you like. Skip the safety tech but splurge on the trim levels and paint. The Limited is $85 grand. But, a Longhorn with the moon roof , air ride and say the blackout package is almost as good for $45 grand. Point is you can buy a lower trim level model and add key features of what you want. Even aftermarket stuff is relatively inexpensive.

The 3.0 L Ecodiesel was actually introduced in 2013. I own a 2016 Ram 1500 with the ecodiesel and I will be buying a Ford once my lease is up. It is a nice truck, it's comfortable, quiet and it does ride well. The reason i will not get another Ram is actually quite simple, I have had to replace so many things on this truck in 4 years, I feel it's ridiculous. Combine these replacements with the nearly 17 recalls issued on just the 1500 series truck gives me no confidence in the engineering team putting these together. The things I have had to replace have not been typical maintenance items, such as the rack and pinion, water pump, DEF injection pump, exhaust particulate sensors, cruise control steering wheel button cluster, brake booster vacuum pump, brake booster, brake master cylinder, ABS pump and module. Even after all of that, the check engine light still comes on. I had a 2001 F-150 that I bought in 2003 and sold in 2018, it had 340K miles on it when I sold it and other than typical maintenance items, the only things I replaced were the alternator and fuel pump.

Still Car and Driver long term 40K Ram had both manifolds crack. That only gives you a 20 k window when the warranty does not cover and you have major expense. I want a Ram but I don't want to spend every other month at the dealer fixing stuff and you some of those little issues will get; that is just how it sounds or operates, or that is "normal". Buying a Ram scares me. I cannot afford to fix stuff on a 60K truck.

Just upgraded to a 2020 Laramie level 1. Hard a 2017 Lonestar and it was superb. I hope this Laramie does as well or better. BTW 1st highway trip saw average of 24.6 MPH with hemi doing 65-75 mph. Not bad. Also extremely smooth ride

I took my mula and bought a classic porsche which value is increasing monthly. I just can see myself paying that for a truck, I already have a luxury car..

Although I do like the new body style I chose the Ram Classic because of the very good rebates. Still, the 4th gen Rams are a great truck! Get one with plenty of options and the 5.7 Hemi with the same horsepower as in the 5th generation and save yourself $10,000.

Great review. Looking at trading my Tacoma for a Ram today. Family needs more room. Originally looked at the Tundra for it’s reliability but it’s dated looks and 13 miles per gallon.....it turned me away. Also didn’t want to wait for the redesigned Tundra....2 years away?.. The Ram is a truck but with the amenities of a Grand Cherokee.

You will be sorry. I have the 2019 Ram Bighorn and I am here to tell you that the reliability of mine sucks!!! I have had to have the bed realigned, it had to have the rear seat belt anchors installed as they were missing, the passenger side inner fender has been replaced twice the drivers side once because they warp and the tire rubs them, the drivers side seat cushion had to be replaced, and now I have the dreaded tea kettle/ morse code whistle that they cannot manage to figure out how to fix, oh and let me not forget the uconnect that locked my phone out of the system and would not let me take it out or put it in. Yea Fix it again tony FIAT RAM sucks!!!!! All these things and not even 25000 miles on it.

Have 2018 Ram 6.7, assemble in Mexico, electronic sucks, body, not aligned, but the ENGINE VERY RELIABLE. I wouldn't buy anything poor quality control, Japan started the QUALITY CONTROL assembly, and best one. But price, looks, outdated technology, what stop me of buying a tundra. Happy with my 2500 6.7. Have no mechanical issues, just electronic(Gremlins) minor problems.

yeah I just love my clunking body to frame mounts....but its not sluggish at all...the tuning they put in is excellent. Trans is flawless. Torque convertor rocks. Braking is best ever seen. With 5100 series Bilstiens this truck is absolutely sick. No one mentions the work put into the drive system.....the all wheel drive/part time 4 wheel system is phenomenal....You stab this Ram it will grunt, snort, & kick.... and its gone. these trucks hook up exceptionally. very smooth exceptionally tuned machine....

V6, but if you want to tow, also go for the 3.55 gear ration on that v6. It's is rated up to around 1500 cargo, and 6000 lb tow, but in reality, at 6000 lb tow, you'd have probably 900 lb on the tongue, which also counts against cargo weight. Further, there is too much squat at that weight as well, so you also need the air suspension (+$2k), and if you go for the air suspension, it seems kind of silly without the hemi (+$2k) and the tow group ($800) and tow mirrors ($300). ....pretty sure you'll want to go offroad as well since you have that nice air suspension lift capability, so go for the offroad package too ($800)....anyway, I've talked myself into a $55k truck via this line of reasoning.

I have been shopping trucks a lot lately full and mid size. Just looked at Dodge for first time the other day. I gotta say I am most likely going to get a dodge when I am ready now. I can get a full size double cab 4wd that is pretty nice, for just a couple, like 2-3k more than a tacoma or the ranger rip off. Ford and chevy full size trucks and Toyota Tundras are stupid prices , dont see how any honest regular working person can afford one.

I ordered my truck just before the COVID shutdown with only $500 deposit. I was told by the dealer 3 weeks ago that the truck would not likely get built & delivered until next year. Got my deposit money back. Last week, I dropped off my wife to pick up her car from servicing and noticed a gorgeous navy blue-ish truck. Looked at it. Talked to the salesperson. Turns out the buyer ordered it early in the year and it had just been delivered. But since his job has been affected by COVID, he can’t afford the payments. He got his deposit back and tomorrow, I’m picking up this beautiful PatriotBluePearl 1500 Sport just about fully loaded at a huge discount.

@@mattman8822 if you're keeping them long term, I'd rather go Ford or Chevy. The interior material and design quality is far superior in the RAM, no questions asked. But I've had arm handles and grabs simply fall apart in my hands with Rams. Their infotainment systems have been buggy. Suspensions it in two years.

Not sure about this model specifically but...I am finally looking to get into a next gen. I am still rocking a gen 3 2500 that I bought new ‘03 that is going strong, traded in a ‘96. Sure there have been some issues as it’s almost 20 years old. But...motor still solid, trans / drive still solid (minus a front pinion seal that I have to replace), int...meh. Def sticking with ram and this will be my third one and not a ram fan boy just find them to be one of the best.

The 3.0 L diesel is the 3rd generation engine. It's significantly upgraded from the earlier model. This is not a Cummins that they put in the 2500s and up models.

I smell an odor from Billy...had a 2019 first run limited fully loaded...zero issues. Just got a 2020 limited blacked out edition fully loaded and zero issues. Also had a few other Dodge products since 2016 with zero issues, not to mention my jeeps with zero issues!
