my main gripe with re6 (storywise), like dumbfounded by this, is why Claire wasn't in instead of Helena. Game reunites Leon and Sherry. No Claire. Chris is a broken man that nobody can get through to. No Claire. Even an easy excuse to meeting at the college would have been that doing antibow speeches around the world was one of the things she did after RE2.

2:03 I disagree with this point. I think it makes much more sense for Leon to have the instinct to rush and save them. I don't think him being seasoned should change that. Leon views it as his responsibility to protect innocent people and he takes it very personally when he can't. I don't think that should ever change about his character no matter how experienced he gets.

I do not mind the direction you went through. That said, Adam Benford could have easily been the VP during Graham's era. As it was once said, in one of the games or alluded to. That he was the one who recruited Leon after the events of RE2. So, my own personal interpretation is that he started out as a Director of an Agency. Was chosen or chose to run for office with President Graham. Winning himself the VP seat during RE4. Graham finishes his two terms. Benford becomes president afterwards.

Benford was never mentioned or hinted at prior to RE6. Some say he is the guy in Leon's epilogue in RE3, but we never learn the name of that guy. While it is possible he could have been VIP during those events, i personally wish he was more character than plot device for Leon. Adam makes his first appearance and suddenly has known Leon for over decade. There should have been more to allude and substantiate their friendship.

I think it probably would've been better if Claire was Leon's partner in RE6. Given how Sherry has been missing for months, it would make sense that Leon and Claire would be working together to find and rescue her. Not to mention that it could better tie in Simmons as an antagonist to the pair. It would also help big time in the moment when Chris and Leon meet up since Claire can also help in convincing Chris to turn away from his vengeance fueled path. Also have it changed where Leon and Claire help Jake and Sherry break out of the facility during the duo's escape in chp 3 in order to allow for more interactions when they meet up.

Chris and Piers's campaign is the best. I'm not sure if it's true, but it feels like the different campaigns are written by different writers. Jake and Sherry's campaign is a nice RE4-style experience with the tone. It's goofy, but taken serious enough when necessary to not feel like a farce... until the end, anyway. Leon and Helena's is disappointingly... nothing. There's nothing to it and it has writing issues immediately and in perpetuity. Glaring issues, too, so even casual fans will notice. It's wild to me how something so intense so frequently leaves no impression whatsoever. It's like some food that has a lot of ingredients and comes out tasting like nothing. It's like magic. Bad magic.

@Gibram R Saying it's the best one does not mean it's great, just executed the best of the 3. Well, 4, but I don't care about Ada's story. It's probably because Chris's story is the only character-driven one where we have a sense of investment in the evens. Leon's and Jake's stories just have them being dragged around by the nose toward wherever the plot needs them to go, whereas Chris has agency in his story. The co-op characters (minus Sherry) all feel tacked-on and could be removed and the story would still be the same, but Chris's story was written to make Piers matter as much as he possibly could for a disposable character. It would've been something special if Chris was the one who died at the end, but Piers bailed him out. Makes it so Piers leaves a good impression despite never being seen again. It's no masterpiece, and is subject to the contrived nature of the plot to keep the protagonists together the entire way, but there's a solid idea for an actual story with Chris in RE6. Feels like the writers cared, even though the bad, segmented format of the game keeps it from being as good as it could be.

I love RE6. It was the first game in the series I finished. The combat feels great and as a fan of bayformers, the plot was exactly my kind of stupid. I will stand by, 6 is something you have to accept to bring back old characters. Leon was helpless in 2, experienced by 4 and here he's John wick. 6 is not the problem, the problem was how long the series went. They've course corrected with 7 but village escalated to a more action tone and Ethan had more training. The series will probably end up at something like 6 again because sequels escalate the stakes. 6 is a fun romp that goes all out to be completely bonkers and show how much it loves Leon, Chris and sherry. Even ada was fun with the progression of her being closer to Leon to the point of having his phone number and damnation confirming they slept together once. That stuff was cool to see. TLDR: RE6 is a stupid game, but that doesn't automatically make it a bad game. Also that tgbs vid was what originally made me give the game a chance a few years ago.

Apparently, Benford was the guy in Leon's epilogue in RE3, the guy who basically coerces Leon into working for the government. If this is true, then they completely botched their development as friends. Yes, people can bond over the years, but that kind of detail should have not go overlooked and just happen off-screen.

There is a way for a US President to serve up to 10 years in office but that would required them to have been elected as Vice President and the Sitting President to have either resigned, been impeached or died with 730 or 731 (for a leap year) or less days remaining on there term in office at which point the vice president is still eligable to serve 2 four year term plus finishing the 2 years left on the previous president (If more then 730 or 731 (for a leap year) so 731 or 732(for a Leap year) days are left in the Previous President term they can only serve a single 4 year Term)

I know Leon's the legacy character and people view the campaign through his eyes, but I always felt he was kind of inconsequential to his own campaign. His only real connection to the events is that he was friends with the president which we don't even know until well into the first chapter and it doesn't seem to matter after once scene establishing them as friends. Compared to Helena who betrayed her duties to try to save her sister, but then tried to stop the attack and failed to save either the President, the town or her sister (who she spends some time trying to carry out to safety), after which she tries to get vengeance/bring justice to the man responsible for all of it and willing to face the consequences (although doesn't b/c I guess we had to have a "happy ending" for some reason).

So a few random things. 1) The president was at campus to reveal the extent that the US Government was involved with umbrella, why do this at campus when doing it in a sort of meeting in the war room would probably make more sense, specially if this can also lead to umbrella's links towards other governments I don't know. I'd change it so the president was planning on that but after tall oaks, I'd also screw with the dates a bit (The Tall Oaks outbreak takes place in June 29-June 30'th) and makes it so it takes place in the anniversary of the Racoon City Incident (September 23-October 1st) so the president (or ex president) talking on campus is about the memory of it, making it more tragic when it happens again, only unlike Racoon City which had some survivors, pretty much everyone in tall oaks dies with the exception of Leon, Ada, Helena (or our hypothetical partner). thus making it look like simmons was trying to plan ahead to make sure all of his bases are covered with 2) I think the swat team dying in Vendetta was more meant to be a "Straw that broke the camel's back" moment, where leon feels like nothing he does matters since 1998 resulting in him becoming a drunkard (though there have been some moments in other movies like Damnation where at the end he's serving himself a drink as he sees the news about the events that happened). what honest to god confused me was that it felt less like they were trying something new for the character and more reusing Chris's state from RE6. 3) As much as I do enjoy RE4 quippy, bad one liner Leon (and it honestly fits the sort of tone RE4 has) I can see it being a facade for the same reasons you do. 4) I have a slight counter argument from your Jill video about Chris.. but not in the way you'd think. I Iike the idea of him being taken by the bad guy and forced into the same situation that Jill was, however I propose a different way, it starts out the same: Chris injured and stumbling across the now dead town after leaving piers behind and gets captured by Carla who tries doing a somewhat more subdued version of the brain washing Jill went through but it fails somewhat, if fucks with chris's memory enough that he can't remember but he also has no loyalty to either Radames or the BSSA so instead he's a Rogue element in the plot showing up in Lingshang to screw with radames's plans while at the same time going against Jill and her crew (lets say, Piers and Sheva) and the BSSA as a whole. it's only until he's defeated in a boss fight that Jill's able to get through to him and they join up to take out the Oil Rig/Secret lab along with Piers and Sheva, meeting Sherry and Jake along the way (you could have Jake make a "Have I seen you before?" comment to here if you want to) things play out, Piers dies and sacrifices himself leaving Jill, Chris and Sheva as the survivors from the lab's destruction after Sherry and Jake escape. maybe through out the campaign you could have them reference events that happened prior like The Outbreak at Marhawa Academy, even referring to Merah's death (Piers) and the incident in Kijuju (with the later one having Jill give some commentary due to being there). Now for the last part of this, make Ada's campaign available from the start and instead have the now gone rogue Chris as the secret campaign. any thoughts on my ramblings?

Chris and Leon both going through a depressed drunk stage devalued the cliche a fair bit. Leon's joking side often is thought of a lot with RE4, but he really does show a nuance of emotions like anger and frustration towards Salazar's antics, sympathy towards Luis' story of leaving the police force, and a mixture of sadness and respect when having to fight Krauser and when they take breaks from the action to reminisce over their past relationship. I never saw as much interesting traits with him in RE6. It's more like the game wanted to just kill civilians and allies around him in the most frustratingly stupid and contrived ways possible just to further his grumbling.

Hard disagree, I really liked the dynamic Jake and Sherry had seeing as how they were the children of the 2 most prominent villains in the franchise at the time. It was cool to see polar opposites like them learn to work together and see their teamwork pay off as the book end to the whole conflict surrounding the C-virus, almost a complete inversion of their fathers and their involvement with the T-virus and Umbrella. I think Claire should have either been in Leon’s campaign instead of Helena, or Claire and Jill should have been the 4th campaign instead of Ada seeing as hers is the weakest, at least in my opinion.

i feel like brekable knifes won't relly be a issue theres probably gona be plenty of replacement knifes or repair kits across the areas the merchant can repair and upgrade the knife you just won't be able to cheese small groups of enemies for free and with all the parry moves dodge would be op they'd have to make the game extremely hard for the enemies even touch you and i don't think there gona make resident evil 4 a hardcore game

One Missed Parry will cost 6 Seconds Worth of Recovery Time and It'll cause Leon to Lose Some Health/Get One Hit Killed (Depending on the Enemy, of course) if The Player was at trying to Parry The Attack (IF The Effective Stamina is bought in the Parry Master Upgrade Section, I'll explain in a bit what that idea would be) and a Successful Parry will Not Deplete that One Cube, With Dodge Rolls being on a 3 Second Cooldown for Each Dodge, HOWEVER THERE ARE NO PERFECT DODGES LIKE IN RE3R AND PLAYERS MUST WAIT THE 3 SECOND PERIOD FOR THE CUBE TO TRULY RECOVER. THERE IS ALSO NO BUTTON PROMPTS FOR THE PARRY WITH THIS NEW IDEA, INSTEAD IT RELIES MORE ON PATIENCE AND ENEMY ATTACK KNOWLEDGE TO MAKE THE MOST EFFECTIVENESS OUT OF THE PARRY SYSTEM. The New Knife Upgrades will work as such: - Power: Which Runs on a Level Up System in Which Each Upgrade must be Bought to Increase The Damage. . Level 1 = 15 Damage - Costs 20,000 Pesetas . Level 2 = 25 Damage - Costs 40,000 Pesetas . Level 3 = 50 Damage - Costs 60,000 Pesetas - Parry Master: Which adds Three Additional Abilities To Stamina and Parrying . Effective Stamina = Decreases The Cooldown from 10 Seconds to 6 Seconds and Successful Parries Will Not lose The Cube - Costs 50,000 Pesetas . Keen Eye = Makes The Window to Parry Less Tight - Costs 50,000 Pesetas . Knockdown = When a Successful Parry is Landed the Enemy After being Kicked Back Will Fall Over Giving Leon Time to Perform a Downed Finisher. - Costs 55,000 Pesetas As for The Breakaway System I would just being back Defensive Daggers from REmake and other Defensive Items with the Daggers Being able to be Bought from the Merchant or Rarely Found in the Environment (and they take up the same amount of space in the case as the Knife in VILLage) as well as keeping the Manual Breakaway. Then it comes down to Two Choices: - Choice 1: Lose Health but keep the Defence Item for Later - Choice 2: Lose the Permenant Defensive Item But Maintain Your Health. So now the Player has Four Melee Options for dealing with Enemies instead of Three: - The CQC Moves - The Classic Poke Them with a Knife - The Parries (Followed by a Kick) - The Downed Finishers. It has Classic Design whilst also still feeling Modern & Reinvented. EDIT: To Parry will be a TAP of The LB/L1 Button and To Ready The Knife it will be a HOLD (For 0.3 Seconds) Command and The RT/R2 Button will Swing The Knife, This Will Be like How Ethan Swings the Knife in RE7.

And what's wrong for punishing a player for using poor implementation of mechanics. You are aware that every game is like this right, in Mario if you time your Jumps poorly, you will die or you get hit, in DOOM if you don't Shoot Enemies or engage with the systems you die you don't progress. Also Parrying is NOT something you have to engage with, it's an OPTION, a Very High Risk, High Reward option but still an option. Just like The Implementation of a Dodge Would be an Option for a Player if they need Breathing Room.

Things that woulda been cool in RE6: 1. Replace Helena with Claire 2. Replace Nivans with Jill 3. Overall, the game just needed a better story I still loved the game though, even I can say it’s not the best in terms of the story. As a fan of RE, I’d really love to see a game where almost all the playable RE characters come together to fight a revived version of Wesker or something, I think that’d be really cool, finally see characters we’d never thought interact before actually interacting with each other.

Chris has earned that story. i dont think leon has yet. leon didnt even know any of the cops really in re2 and marvin was already dying at that point and they barely talked. chris lost all of bravo and basically all of alpha who he worked with for years. got his ass beat in veronica by wesker and didnt really get him back till re5s end. Chris is far more deserving of the story imo than leon. ya know what the games kind of need.. someone to be fun.. can that be leon again?

I was kind of confused for a moment. "Instead she'd be Angela's best friend, partner or girlfriend". I immediately thought you'd just said the same thing twice, always forget that partner can mean in a professional sense. Personally I feel like sister still remains super strong because I find sibling relationships aren't portrayed strongly in a lot of media outside of RE, and RE only really has Chris and Claire who have been in... what, one game together at the very end? Also having a romantic entanglement, as much as more LGBT+ representation is always nice, it also then dips its toes into both the bury your gays trope and fridging. And having them as partners in the professional sense I always find is kinda a hard sell for an emotional bond unless you see that grow and expressed over the expanse of at least one game (Like Chris and Jill, or Chris and Sheva.)

never had that much a problem with leon's mature nature in 6/likely remake as he's always had a dorky nature as my problems were that it should've been him with sherry & claire,have the president be 4's(when i saw the news of the game i actually thought it was going to be that.) having a grown experienced ashley replace helena,get rid of half of the deaths as it went overboard,have him go through a bit more thought about ada & why he feels close to her/tries to help her despite her mystery. and like you said have jill valentine as it really feels like she should be in the new games helping chris as it couldn't have been that long for her 5 trauma to have been healed.

You know something this actually works. It expands upon Leon's character introducing some characters in a more interesting way and brings back old characters but not has them be super into the story in order to work. If Resident Evil 6 did something like this for Leon then it would have been great. As it is the game is an absolute mess and as far as remake for 4 is concern at 1st I thought I wasn't that interested in it until I thought and saw some footage this actually looks good, Leon seems to still have a bit of some Snark in the remake but not to the degree that he had in the original so I'm all for the remake now. The only thing I would love for them to keep from Resident Evil 4 OG is the ballistics line lol. Other than that this is a good small little fix for Leon in 6.

I know I'm late. But I agree. She has been there for him. Not like Ada that just manipulates him every time they meet. Because of Ada I have realized that there are a lot more manipulative people out there than we think like most of Ada's fans. Most of them are just as manipulative as her and that's why they like the relationship between Leon and Ada. I should know cuz I have dealt with a lot of manipulative people like her and them in real life. Hopefully they can make him move on eventually like I did with the people I had in my life. Thank you for pointing out Leon's characterisation problem in RE4, he turned a Dante knock of and totally unnatural one. And for people who says he created before or DMC planned as RE game, no, he was totally different in RE2 and the protagonist of RE game turned DMC was a different character. Leon was a good lovable duty guy, tried his best despite being a rookie, much better fresh breath than stiff Chris in first game. Never liked him in RE4 and not really cared for him in RE6 (and sadly only decent campaign). RE2R captured that again, hope they continued that and not made him quip machine again. Lastly, RE6 is horrible game.

Controls were mostly fine with exception of turning in corners where you will usually get stuck against the wall. Story, on the other hand has some good moments but i find it to bloated mess.

Leon is basically a Gary Stu to me. Wasted potential would be Sheva from 5. I wish she came back in 6 with Chris's team. Sheva could have easily been the voice on the phone that talked to Ethan Winters in 7 and meet up with her proper in Village. I hate that she was a one off, worse a way to make the game not seem racist.

The problem here is that Capcom games in general are poorly written and rely on both tired cliches and new characters to avoid the series getting stale. Even if the differences in characters are superficial at best. Jessica Sherawat is a ripoff of Ada Wong, Jake is a ripoff of Billy, the list goes on.

Only difference between Jake and Billy is that Billy was falsely framed soldier while Jake became mercenary willingly to provide for his mom, but as she passed away, he is only out for himself. I still don't like the fact he is Wesker's son, but over the years i've learned to some accept it even if i don't like it. Instead of copying Wesker's fighting moveset from RE5, why not make Jake into brutal and dirty street brawler to differentiate him from his father?

The truth is, Leon's personality in 4 was due to the localization. In the original Japanese version he's got that stick up his ass that he has in Degeneration and 6.

Re6 was the ensemble of re characters like the expendables was to 80s and 90s action heroes icons, it was gold, re2 and 3 remakes were dogshit, change my mind 🙂

@Gibram R thats pretty much how it was with the expendables you had 1 or 2 well known stars and the rest were relatively new and the other stars were cameos but for the game they were just mentioned via a file or got their own games altogether, i really dont see the problem with re6 it was just what i as a long time re fan wanted at the time. Sure i can agree some of the characters coulda been done better namely jake and ada i wasnt really fond of them sherry i could forgive cuz we hadnt seen her since re2 so who knows how much she changed in 15 years, everyone else we saw change gradually but ada they butchered and jake was just annoying, nothing against troy baker i hold capcom responsible for that one. Ada just felt like a... well not sure how to describe her, the closest thing i can compare her to is the kind of woman who would cuck her boyfriend and rub it in their face and that was offputting to me. Helena she just had a weak set up i mean ya really think you can kidnap a govt agents family and not go unnoticed? Even if youre a govt official yourself? Come on! Piers just didnt get enough screentime for me to really feel his loss the way capcom intended. Chris im a bit on the fence with, he wouldnt have gave up like he did, he was closer to jill than that whole team but didnt do shit for her, maybe he felt he can handle 1 loss of a teammate but hed never lost an entire team under HIS watch so it might be justifiable. Leon sure one can argue he wouldnt act the way he did when the prez was a zombie but one can also argue he didnt know anyone who was close to him who has ever became a zombie so that was a theoretical first for him in that way. Yeah re6 has its flaws i never said it was purfect gold isnt always purfect it can be dented or damaged in some ways so ill say this re6 was DAMAGED gold.

However, Leon had kissed Angela in "Degeneration" and so bringing her back for RE6 (rather than just having the new gal, Helena) would force them to address the possible relationship and mutual romantic feelings. This would definitely interfere with the whole Ada/Leon thread.
