It's on sale right now $25 it's still a little steep for such an old game but I broke down and got it. I'm glad I did It's been surprisingly fun and nostalgic nice little throwback to being a kid in 2010 we were just recovering from the economy collapsing so I have fond memories of this game.

The 100 million dollars spent to develop this game, and all the blood, sweat, and tears, and sleepness nights from dozens of developers, didn't magically go away because the game is 10 years old. Not to mention you don't just drag the game from PS3 to Switch like an mp3 file onto an iPod. They had to hire a whole development studio to painstakingly re-write the games code for the ARM64 architecture used in the Nintendo Switch's processor. It's not like a car that depreciates in value, gets rusty, parts start to fail etc. It's a digital good and it's value doesn't drop. With that being said, I ain't paying no $50 either. I have a modded switch, and I've paid full price for the game bore on Xbox, so I pirated it lmaooo

This port is nothing more than Rock* nickeling and dimming folks. RDR1 is amazing game, but we shouldn't let this slide. Rock*/T2 treat their own IPs like second hand cigarette on the prison yard. Sadly, it doesnt matter in the end. This port will make a lot of money.

Never played this game. And I bought the switch oled specifically to play handheld. As I was busy studying in the ps3 era. And didn't have time to play games. I discovered a lot during the switch oled life span. I love playing before I go to sleep. And I love this game! I am discovered so many playstation ports and others and I just love it.

I noticed that Rockstar has always been a little subpar at 3rd person shooting mechanics yep except for MP3 Wow They are however great at storytelling.. I’m tempted to get the physical on Switch if possible even owning the OG version digitally.. It just looks to me like they wanted to get more Red Dead out there quickly so they can focus on potential remakes & sequels more so in the future

I guess I'm a minority that thinks a port is fine, especially after seeing the GTA Trilogy "Remasters". 30fps lock is disappointing but justifiable on switch at least but what really ruins it is the $50 USD price tag, should've been $20 max with no multiplayer. Also I'm glad someone brought up how awful the shooting is on controllers. Even at the highest sensitivity, free aiming is to slow to be useful outside of turret sections, and the auto aim system is clumsy and has a mind of its own, you can be wanting to shoot one guy running away but snap to another guy that's behind cover that you can't hit anyway. What saves it is that Red Dead Redemption isn't a difficult game so any fuck ups can be corrected before you get killed or even take damage.

I just don't understand how anyone can call the controls "clunky". To me they were absolutely perfect, and with regard to the auto aim, you can take it off and manually aim as well.

About the combat controls… you CAN control your aim and turn off automatic aiming for good if you’re in hardcore mode. Definitely recommend you play on that mode and mess with the sensitivity of the controls in the settings menu and you have yourself a game with good controls

Wow man I just laugh to myself when I see such idiotic sheep that always need someone to bitch about lmfao 🤣. Anti-consumer,,,,, seriously? Not even close to accurate they actually care so much more about their customer base then any other developers. Right now they are working on one of the biggest videogames of all time with an enormous amount of staff and actors, and one of the biggest (or definitely the biggest) budgets ever seen. The budget is around 9 times larger than Red dead ones. They also will delay a game they are working on because they always have awesome launches with their games because of this. Unlike developers who rush out games to make deadlines for the holidays and such, CD projekt red and cyberpunk 2077 come right to mind, they lied about so many different aspects of the game that they never intended of putting in. They didn't fix any of the numerous game-breaking bugs and simply rushed it out, instead of putting more time and energy and money into the game because of a simple word.... greed and not caring about their customers whatsoever! Hell would freeze over before rockstar would do anything like that simply because they are dedicated to putting out a quality game.

How rockstar handled this release was underwhelming and disappointing, but the allure to play it portably was too much for me to resist, at least it looks decent and runs at a stable frame rate even if they didn't really do anything to it at all I still would have ultimately paid top dollar for a remake of this game in the Red Dead 2 engine with the Red Dead 2 gameplay mechanics But that was always wishful thinking, on a last note I'm hearing you say that you think the controls are better in this game than they are in Red Dead 2 and I have to adamantly disagree. Red Dead 2 is more animation-based which can kind of get funky, and the horses every now and then will inevitably just be magnetized to a rock or a tree or a fence, but I am finding things way jankier revisiting this one, I don't ever remember the horses being this terrible But it's manageable and it's still fun

It's a truly amazing experience on the switch, I didn't buy it but my partner gifted it me knowing I wanted to relive one of my all time games but didn't want to pay the $50, Imo the price is expensive for it's age, wait for sale if you've played before and if you haven't well, it's truly up to you. I've been having a blast with this game on the switch though! it runs great and have had no problems with frame drops as of yet.

This port is a fantastic addition to the PlayStation catalog finally we don’t have to have the terrible stream service version. We have a stable and beautiful port with a also enhanced undead nightmare. This has always been my dream to play in 1080p 30fps on my PlayStation. Let’s just celebrate double eleven for their work here. Maybe rockstar in the future might work with this studio for porting other titles like gta 4

What’s the deal with praising the game and then giving it a 7? Has it set the bar that hadn’t been surpassed since? (Besides for part two?) YUP. is it better written and acted than 99% of the cringy games out there (that u guys give 10s to?) YUP THIS IS THE PINNACLE OF GAMING. This is up there with the greatest movies ever made (does Scarface or Lord of the Rings need a remake? Slap yourself if you say “yes”). What people say about this port is true. And it's true Rockstar didn't want to bother with this because they have new games in the works, and yet, they still give something to those people who were asking for it. Rockstar is still the of the few companies who puts out a bunch of extra content for free. Really, Rockstar isn't going to make much from reselling RDR, it wasn't a good choice for them, but they give us something. I really wanted to play liars dice and poker online again - i was planing to uy this game to enjoy and play liars dice.

Let me save y’all some money. It’s buggy as HELL. The stranger mission that pops up the first time you go see Seth (old woman sitting in a demolished house, she asks you to find Peter), I have tried finishing this side mission four times now. Each time, when I talk to the piano player in Armadillo as she requested, and the instructions appear “pay him $5 or go see his wife”, a loud glitch popping sound will play and you cannot actually pay the piano player. If I pause the game, the sound pauses, the piano player has done weird things such as split into two clones, one sitting in the others lap backwards, etc… there is no way to complete the side mission. I’ve loaded my last save four times and EVERY time that loud glitch sound starts at the same moment and will not stop unless I load a save. I’ve also seen the same NPC Clone spawn glitch other area in the game. I’m about 8 hours in. I REALLY wanted to like this port. Do NOT buy this!

Honestly if you’re younger or just haven’t played it, I think the game alone is worth the money. But Im torn tbh. I have red dead on my Xbox One and it’s fine. I’ve had it for years and I think I got it on sale for like $20 on the Microsoft store way way back when. Super great deal and wonderful time. But I really want to play this portably.
