I was a very young employee at a resort and he treated me and the other employees with loving kindness. No matter who stopped to talk to him, he treated them like close family and made time to finish the conversations. As he stepped away I told him to have a good day and he responded in the same soft voice he used to close his show with, "Have a good day? Son, the day is half over, have a good life!" That was 55 years ago and I remember it like yesterday. Listen to his explanation of the Pledge of Allegiance if you want to understand his insight.

I still smile when I think about him. @@timrichard8798 Real comedy did not need "laugh tracks". The I Love Lucy Show was recorded before a live studio audience. Those laughs were real, as were the ones in front a lot of shows back then. If I listen to a modern show from the other room, these "laugh tracks" are extremely irritating. I don't need someone to tell me when something is funny.

How can you not love Red Skelton! It's like he was everyone's favorite uncle! He was actually the direct opposite of most modern day comedians. Not only was he not vulgar, I guess you could say he was the polite comedian. Which actually made it even more funny !

He also did a Radio Broadcast about The Meaning Of Christmas In 1951. The Little Christmas Tree. My Favorite Red Skelton Quote: I personally believe that each of us was put here for a purpose and that's to build not to destroy.

Best at stand up, situation comedy and pantomime. Sheer genius! Had a show in the 60's. Must watch tv. No one like him since.
