Plus circuses in this era wouldn't have been as far removed from freakshows and that grotesque connotation wouldn't make it hard to believe she'd been through something horrible.

Loved the OCs! For side character suggestion, make a gay cowboy couple that Theo & Ruth meet and seeing the couple interact and talk makes them both realize they are in love when leading up to the the confession, that would be awesome!! (doesnt have to be a gay couple persay, but i think it would be cool since they did exist and the dynamic of how society especially about lgbt was would impact the couple in different ways but they found salvation from it in each other)

I just got the inspo for my last character in my samurai, pirate, cowboy and British lady story, a magician. Thanks for the inspiration, now I should probably start working on the plot of the story lol.

These two are adorable and my kind of ship lol. I can just see it, Ruth’s prior friend from the circus realizing that she is with Theo and works with the cops to get catch him. Forcing Ruth to come back with him if she doesn’t want Theo to die, trapping her even further. Cue breakout sequence, with Theo rushing back to save Ruth and stopping her formar friend. love the designs and characters ❤

i have watched this like 3 times now and I just love the story- I find it to while being almost like an enemies or lovers It just feels different... probably because of the settings and the clown and cowboy- all of this gave me motivation to actually do more drawings of a little universe I myself made a while back and actually try and explore it more. and I also just love the redesigns lol- the change of color scheme completely for Ruth both makes her stand out from Theodore... but also for me at least fits a lot with the like sad story with the blues... and I actually found the blonde hair on Theodore to make his design connect with Ruths like how they are different but work well together it's just cute!

Ok so I have an idea for like possible shenanigans. First of all, I love your designs and its nice to see how much you grew as an artist in the past 4 years. The idea is that the cicus fiance guy could send his goons to catch her. Each goon could be based of an other position in a Cicus. (Like a knive thrower, a fire breather, a strongman, a snake person) and so he sends them after her, one after one, but they defeat them or make them be arrested or something. Then at the end hes like: "fine, ill do it myself" and then he's like the ringleader or something. Dunno if that fits the tone, but that what I immediatly thought of when I heard there was an evil fiance involved.

not gonna lie when you said that you got the idea for this while bored in class remains me of how I created my first pony oc SunRose. I created this emotional anger driven pegasus oc in the 6th grade of middle school. During a time where I myself was going through bullying and at the time couldn't stand up for myself so I took all of my pint up anger towards these people and put it into SunRose. it's been several years since I created that mare and all that's changed about her is her mane/tail style. She used to look like a recolored Rainbow Dash with an orange coat, a red mane/tail, and bright blue eyes, her update design is now a smooth mane/tail with her mane pulled back between her ears with a light green headband to keep her mane in place. Now does she still have the same personality as she did when I created her? Yes, I'm not changing that, 6th grade me put too much anger into her for present me to get rid of. She is however now seen as a rose with thorns. One moment she's sweet and laughing along with her friends and next you talk crap about her dead mom or how her adopted mom only adopted her cause of a promise then you will be waking up from a week long coma with broken teeth.

I love the new designs! I've also been obsessed with spotlight for the past who knows what. They bring so much to the characters!! One thing I noticed (maybe not intentional) but I like how in the last drawing Ruth looks sorta out of place with her color scheme meanwhile Theo looks like he belongs in the wilderness/desert. Given that Ruth spent all(/most) her life in the circus of course she would look out of place when she's in a new environment! I love storytelling through art.
