14:40 it's even better than you thought. It's not a different take, it's the same exact shot, mirrored. The black truck, guy in the hat, woman in white in the far background, all the same, but the "es" visible on the newspaper is backwards in the later shot. He couldn't be bothered to shoot another take of him walking down a sidewalk with a bag of groceries.

Has the usual audio issues but so much more fun than Kill Switch. Shot of Seagal with groceries is the same shot just flipped - the cars are driving on the wrong side of the road. Even more fun is the shot following it panning from his apartment to the beach - it’s the same shot used in the opening titles but printed in reverse - look closely and you can see a guy on a rooftop walking backwards!!

There’s a novel by a Soviet dissident, called Faithful Ruslan about a guard dog at a GULAG camp who assumes that the place must be a sort of paradise. Apparently the name Ruslan has snob appeal because it’s the name of a character in a poem by Pushkin, but I kept thinking of Seagal as a dog…

Big scary guy at 13:18 was one of the Blanchett's minions in Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull. He was on that rocket sled with Jones in the beginning and the one eaten alive and sucked into the ant hill.

As a russian i got a kick out of Steven saying lines in russian in this movie. If you know russian it makes the movie so much better because hilariocity level is rising dramatically ) Other than that it's pretty boring action movie but probably one of best direct to video in Seagals career. Also attempt of Steven to speak russian is admirable although hilarious )

@@RedEyeReviews I would say decent but he didn't say any complicated words or sentences just curse words and general things like greetings and with the strong accent There was a funny scene in the beginnng when he mixed english with russian. It got me puzzled for while because i initially thought the whole phrase was in russian but it didn't make sense For the russian ear it sounded like "Here i'm the rain" (heavy rain to be precice) but it actually was Я здесь (I'm here) leaving )

LOL, they found the stolen ring at the pawn shop? Dude, when I went to college, I had my bike stolen. It was a small town with 2 pawn shops, each at the other end of town. I went to each of them for a few weeks looking for my bike. Because I had built the bike with custom parts, it was easy to spot. I NEVER found the bike at the pawn shops, and NEVER saw anyone riding it around town (a very small town). In fact, never saw it again. BUT, Seagal just wanders into this pawn shop, and find this tiny ass ring???? OMG Seagal movies are terrible. Thank you for watching them for us, putting these reviews together, and making us laugh.

The movie opens with Seagal buying groceries?🤣 Gonna watch it soon, high as a kite. By the way, watch how Seagal almost never is in the same scene as his fighting opponent. It's all doubles mostly. Same goes for a lot of the acting scenes in his latest movies (2001 - now). He also produces most of these himself, so I'm sure he is ok with delivering half baked products.

Oh it's very true. It's just filming of Seagal up close reacting to things, and then wide shot of the other guy fighting. Then close up Seagal again lol. But yeah he just wants to make a quick buck at this point in his career

@@RedEyeReviews at this point?🤣 He started in the late 80s. His movies got bad at the beginning of the 2000s. He only got like 10 good years. Which means the last 20 is a total joke. Even in the first 10 years, only the first few movies were good. When he started he was already in his 30's. More than 2/3 of his career has been phoning it in. But he's not the only "action star". Chuck Norris did it as well. Massive doubling. Overrated screen fighter.

@@Shaki123 that's true. I think Under Siege gave him alot of money and he was desperately trying to find that amount of money again, but just started turning out as movies as he could. He was making 2 to 3 movies a year for awhile. It's pretty crazy

Not sure why they dubbed it so much. There are lines in the trailer which are clearly Seagal’s voice, but then in the film the very same lines sound dubbed. If you think the Driven to Kill tagline is off the mark, check out the back of the UK DVD for The Keeper - it’s an almost totally different synopsis to the movie!!

Cheeki breeki i v damke! 1:24 I miss LAN parties. My friends and I use to do that on the regular from 1997 up until 2011 or so. Then we just couldn't find the time anymore. More's the pity. Mountain Dewm was our standard-issue (as per typical), but I'd occasionally drink Nos which is the best tasting energy drink. 3:54 Half Russian, half Irish. That's his actual heritage. Probably more complex than that, but those two are confirmed. 6:07 A ye olde third-pattern pre-1959 AK (aka "AK Type-3" or more commonly "AK-47" which isn't really its real designation). "That belongs in a museum!" 6:11 Not the best selling point. This guy isn't very good at the whole "Lord of War" thing. No showmanship. At any rate, any arsenal needs at least one shotgun. If it's good enough for Doomguy, Quakeguy (aka "Ranger"), and Gordon Freeman, it's good enough for Seagal. 8:51 They're wearing Adidas tracksuits like proper cheeki breeki gopnik bandits! 9:03 Poor technique. 9:05 Czech that muzzle, greenhorn! 12:12 He pulled those same shotgun-flippy shenanigans with R. Lee Ermey in 'On Deadly Ground'. 14:03 Hey! Is that the guy from 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull'? 14:41 Not only that, but it's mirrored for no reason! The newspaper is a dead giveaway. Why do so many directors do this?! Sam Raimi is muh fave, but he has a severe tendency to overuse that "mirror image" or "flipped scene" editing technique. You know that infamous flipped scene in Evil Dead 2 where Ash goes down in the cellar to find the Necronomicon pages and it looks like the chainsaw is on his left arm instead of his right? Well, it's not just that. The whole scene is flipped. You can tell because no one makes left-handed chainsaws, plus the shirt Bruce is wearing appears to fasten right over left. Men's shirts always fasten left over right. There might be a few exceptions, but they're the exception, not the rule. You can also tell by Bruce's eyebrows and also the arrangement of scars on his face (the L-shaped scar on the left side of his chin is real). Okay, now I'm going off on a tangent. Back on track here. I might be mistaken about the second one being the flipped one. I can't tell if that's an "e" or a "9." So maybe the first one is the flipped one. Note: Duh! Of course! I can just go by which side of the road the cars are driving on. So the second one is flipped. But wait. What country does this take place in? Or what country was it filmed in?

another movie filmed in my hometown , the opening beach seens with the really long pier is White Rock B.C. Canada , hours drive from Vancouver along the USA Canada border , theres a long piece of land in 1 of the shots and theres a spot called 1001 steps , when i was teenager n stuff me and the crew would have a bonfire at the bottom of the steps , drink are asses off , race each other to the top of the steps drunk , then jump off the pier at 2 in the morning , during the winter the cold water would sober you up real quick

Erm were do I start lol when I watch a seagal film now I just get lost of what is going on and I think seagal doesn't stay on set long so thy just put in these slow shots of him walking and replaying more hits and strikes on the bad guys ha . And seriously the hairdo looks like he can just take it off like a German helmet or lego hair and wake up next day comb it and put it back on . While the plot is a spin off of *Taken* I really enjoy this film. I can rewatch it and not grow tired of it. I love how Seagal has to basically take his daughter's fiance and teach him how to defend honor. And Steven's Russian accent isn't half bad. Btw I took that receeding hairline joke personally because I wear my hair in the same style as Steven. A slicked back ponytail.

Seagal's accent is more like Tommy Wiseau than Russian. And as a healthcare worker, its ridiculous to see the oxygen tube placed wrongly on the daughter. Thats why it keeps flopping around.

Haha I am grateful to have a Healthcare workers perspective on this. I'm sure you lose your mind watching some of these Seagal movies that involve hospitals. I can't imagine there is much accuracy anywhere. Thanks for everything you do! Especially in recent times, Healthcare workers are worth their weight in gold.

It’s a shame that Steven’s characters never reflect the fact that he’s Irish and Jewish. I really want to see him play an ex-Mossad agent with a drinking problem. Seagal kicking ass while wearing a Kippah and holding a Guinness would just make my day!

I rather enjoy the faux Russian accordion music during the knife fight. Doesn't Steven know that a "widow's peak" naturally draws the eye to the part of his face that looks artificial? Steven has no real friends and that is kinda sad.
