As far as Ash getting dumber each time on film.....he has taken ALOT of head injuries & PTSD. That why in the show the continuity makes sense ...it all happened to Ash, the movies, video game; even the one where he played poker with Brock Sampson. I saw this opening night in a packed theater and I had no clue it was part of the Evil Dead franchise until it started. It was a fun experience because most of the crowd were fans, so there was a lot of whooping and hollering. It was more like watching a football game than a movie. I was in Michigan at the time so the place just erupted at the "boomstick" scene. That was the last time I remember going to a movie where everyone stood up and clapped at the end.

When I saw the 'South Park' movie in the theater we had such a crowd. We were singing along and clapping, quoting and cheering - it was so much fun. Army of Darkness is a true gem. So quotable, full of laughs and b-movie-esque charm, and extremely re-watchable like few other movies can say… it somehow defines a real part of the male personality that just makes sense. Personally I put it right up there with the Big Lebowski and Monty Python and the Holy Grail. “Yeahhhh Baby!”
@Tom_Van_Zandt2 жыл бұрын
Although the Holy Grail is obviously a comedy classic, I don't find it to be nearly as funny as I did when I was in middle and high school. A lot of the jokes just don't hold up for me in my old age. And I've always hated it when one person quotes a line from that movie it's inevitable that 1 or 2 other people will respond in kind with a different line from the movie, which prompts the 1st person to keep it going with another quote, and they all laugh and mention how much they love the movie. I don't know why, but that has always irritated me.

@@Tom_Van_Zandt You should really see 'Spamalot' on stage if you want to rekindle that fun you had as a child. I saw it with friends when I was in my early 30s and we all loved it - it isn't just a rehash of 'Holy Grail' as I had feared it would be.

"The original ending is more appropriate for Ash as a character" So true. Ash is defined as the (unlikely) hero who, just as everything seems to be coming together, loses big time and the end of his movies. That's one of the things that made the Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness so unique at their time (nowadays it's a bit of a trope but at the time it really wasn't). Still love these movies - each in a totally different way.
