Always Board Never Boring is back with paintbrush in hand to continue his HeroQuest restoration project. In this video, he's going to paint the mighty Barbarian hero. As the Barbarian isn't fond of clothes, this painting guide focuses on painting tanned, dark skin. We also cover painting black hair and broadswords.
At no point in this video does Always Board Never Boring use the word "muscularity."

"Musculature! The Barbarian has it!" Okay, that's out of the way. I was surprised when you were going to such detail with the eyes. Is that a brush with 1 bristle? :) He came up well, but then he has to as the signature figure for the whole game.

I hate painting eyes, but the barbarian's are right out on display, as he doesn't have a helmet, a decent hair cut, or even a beard to help with shadows. So, I had to use my insane detail brush from Army Painter. It's incredibly fine! Thanks for the kind words.

I used deathclaw brown, then deathclaw brown mixed with kislev flash, and kislev flesh for highlights to make brown skin for models I painted. A good friend instructed me to do that to match my skin tone.

Thanks for the kind words. It's really cool you've managed to match your own skin tone. I don't think I have any Deathclaw Brown to give that a try. When I do the elf and wizard they will have much lighter skin tones, but the dwarf in the artwork has black skin so that will require a different palette. Unfortunately that miniature doesn't have much skin on show - it's mainly just a nose!

Great as always. I hate painting eyes... Can You make a video about painting primaris ultramarine someday? As easy as possible and with only basic paints ? My son (10) is waiting for something like this...

@@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring I am not very excited with these new sculpts btw, but i guess new people must buy it, i never owned that game, a friend of mine did but we played the campaign, i remember my excitement when i was 10 years old on a friday morning at school waiting to play it at night.

I like some of the new ones, but I don't really like the new orcs, and some of the stretch goal miniatures were bad. My love of the game is steeped in too much nostalgia, which is why I eventually decided to buy and restore an old copy rather than buy the new one.

Try boiling water. Either dip the sword into a cup of boiling water or carefully pour water onto the stress line on the sword. Then you can reshape the sword.

If barbarians are from Norsca, why do they get so tanned? He's obviously fresh off the boat, because he hasn't acquired any Nuln stripped tights yet.

The answer is because fantasy art told me so. It's probably some kind of visual representation of health and strength. And forget Nuln tights. Your fashion sense is soooo Old World.

There's no lag in the video - I just ran it again to check. It might have been an issue with your connection while streaming, but all the audio and footage syncs up
