I did come across this striking, beautiful, flower 2 years in a row in late August. Since I had not researched their caring process, I did not buy them. With your demonstration, the growing of this plant is less intimidating. It is good to know that this plant can be propagated and overwintered.

I am in far northern California on the coast, Arcata, with cool but not cold weather. Rarely very hot here but the red hot pokers do very well.

Yes you could use the seeds to propagate. I have never tried it. But from what I understand you will need to expose the seeds to cold temperature such as in the fridge for 6-8 weeks before you sow the seeds.

Hi yes you can grow the Red hot Poker in pots. The size of the pots will depend on the varieties. They are dwarf varieties and the taller varieties. The one I displayed is the taller variety. I would look at a 20 litre size pot. They are fast growers once settled so may have to keep an eye on the plant. If it gets too overcrowded then I would separate the clump and plant in the garden.

If you live abroad exporting plants is a lengthy process. However if you live in Nairobi, Kenya the plant is available in most of the nurseries. Sorry for your loss.
