Lagree is NOT Pilates at all. The machine was based on a reformer but Lagree is a METHOD and has nothing to do with Pilates. The Megaformer is the name of the machine not the name of the workout. The Lagree Method focuses on Muscular Endurance and Muscular Strength. If a Pilates workout looks similar to Lagree or is called "high intensity Pilates" or "Modern Pilates" they are copying the Lagree Method. There is no such thing. The Pilates community will thank you for clarifying this. They do not want to be referred to as Lagree and Lagree does NOT want to be referred to as Pilates. They are two completely different methods. Older licensees of Lagree unfortunately still use Pilates in their branding, but the Lagree brand does not support this.

Great video and awesome breakdown of the two different machines. My wife is obsessed with the Megaformer and calls it Lagree fitness.. named after the creator of the Machine as the one instructor mentioned in your video. She’s a big fan of Sebastian’s and his workouts on the Mega. We are looking to relocate to a new area and I know that this is something that she really loves doing 3-4 times a week. Now that I know the difference between the two machines and workouts, what would you recommend when searching for a Megaformer studio? Lagree only pops up here and there so I was wondering if there’s another name.. I recall you mentioned something like body rock in this video. Thanks very much again and great video!!

dont agree with many of the mega former comments, having done reformer for nearly 20 years, and, having a clinical background you can use boxes and other props to get the same intensity

If a person is new to this type of exercise and is mature should they take aerobics before a pilates class. If they workout at a gym?
@chelsealoveslifeАй бұрын
My mom is pushing 70 and she started pilates. It's very safe for mature folks to get into without any background in fitness--Your local pilates studio can meet you where you're at.

I feel like there’s an issue with how the term “resistance” is being used. Shouldn’t it be “assistance”? Reducing resistance would make a movement easier, not harder.
@biteme34706 ай бұрын
That’s not necessarily true. It’s easier to be stable the more resistance you have but when you have less resistance you have to use more core strength to keep your form, like with planks and bridges.
@biteme34706 ай бұрын
And with other movements, more resistance does make it harder it just depends on what movement you’re doing on the reformer.
@beatrizmartini32223 ай бұрын
actually depending on which you are using , reducing the resistance, it makes the core work harder when you are doing planks, it destabilizes the stand making your body work harder at maintaining the posture, a the nuances. if the resistance is too hard, say on the reformer, your shoulders will wear a lot of the brunt ofthe weight and you should be extending your spine in order to ensure no compression. OMG this is so exciting, the body is with you 24/7 feel it, sense it. and enjoy

Within the Pilates World there is a divide between classical/traditional and contemporary. The class you took would be considered contemporary. A classical reformer feels very different. Would love to see you compare the two!
