If I could play as well as that I'd have one - too long in the tooth to learn now. Did enjoy that though, it sounds so good.

Don’t even think about not giving it a try! I just got past the 72nd birthday and bought a Regal douliian. Being honest - in 1958 or 59 mom & dad got me a $80.00 Kay guitar from Sears that had a 6 or 8” amp built into the case. Sounded like crap but it was a guitar! You can’t name a guitar that I haven’t bought or sold over the years. I made more $ playing music from the 9th grade to graduation from high school and then got drafted and shot to hell in Nam. Out of the service, married a beautiful piano player, had 4 kids and started started playing music again. Life’s gone by so fast I can remember the highs that were only occasionally interrupted by the inevitable, short term lows. Now the guitars that I didn’t sell are worth about the same as my 401K. Played everything in standard turning until Keith Richards discovered open D tuning. Then 2 years ago- it all got boring except my for my practice. And then my wife and I went to a Buddy Guy concert in Columbus OH and there was a filler act with some kid with a wired-up OLD resonator. I hadn’t conquered that or even thought about a resonator. For my 72nd birthday my wife and kids got me a Regal resonator. It reignited all the old good feelings. Covid-19 and a paranoid-power hungry governor gave me three months off and the grass wasn’t growing until mid April and I can’t take commercial television for more than 10-15 minutes so I lived in KZbin watching all these guys and women playing stand-alone resonator blues- the real blues. Hell!!- I gonna keep working and and get this resonator in high gear. If your long in the tooth- try being gone with the teeth and hello dentures and the thinning hair (my favorite daughter says”thinning your ass... Dad you are Bald- ..face reality!!!” (I’d cut her out of the will but I still kinda Like her) I’m going to get this resonator down and play one more gig somewhere and if the spotlight reflecting off my thin spot blinds someone in the church or at a blues jam ... too bad for them! Everybody knows you’re supposed to wear dark shades at a blues jam !!! Buy that resonator!!! It ain’t that hard to learn- Hell they’re all tuned to one chord- how hard can it be?? Robert Johnson never had to play an augmented F 9th with a ruptured 7th. Live on brother and make it work. I love being the crazy grandpa that all the grand kids all want to hang with. I might even quit riding my old Sportster/bobber. The bones don’t heal as fast as they used to and with a bottle-neck slide I only need to save one finger and a thumb on the left hand for the guitar. Go buy that resonator tomorrow.
