Elton gives his all on these live solo performances. That's just the kind of person he is which is so rare to see that there is no compromise. This is probably why he had to have the operation on his vocals so early in his career. Thank you Elton for being so committed to quality performances so we can all see the true raw talent.

He had the photo operation in early 1987 after he did that orchestra tour around Australia and New Zealand at the end of 1986 so had the operation in January or February 1987

My mom once told me that she was close to aborting me as she had three kids already and that something told her to keep me. I had dreams about her rejecting me and losing her love for me around the age of 25. She told me this information and said that children who were going to be aborted with the mom emotional leaning that way affects babies in the womb and that these feelings tend to manifest in a person life.. but she told me that this song and was the reason she kept me. She dedicated this song to me and told me I was her blessing that change her life. Makes me cry every time i hear it. I am so blessed and thankful to be alive.

Saw some of the concerts with him and Ray Cooper in the late 70's and 80's but this concerts' artistry and song arrangement is utterly amazing for this body of work. Yes Bernie Taupin lyrics. Older now than 1976 at the Capital Center but wow. It was a great concert. Remember having someone coming late to pick up the group and we got to go in where they were loading the trucks. Met the manager of the group. Lovely people. Got to see the piano loaded was all and a coke to drink as our ride was late. Best concert I ever attened. Better than, Yes,, Bob Dylan, Peter Frampton, Credence and so many others. In that time EJ was king.

Elton is and was always the man. Perfect toned, fabulous voice. Just EXCELLENT! This is by far my favorite song he ever did. I sing it karaoke all the time. And what an incredible piano player. Sorry, but better than Billy Joel ever was and I’m not taking credit fm Joel. But I once Heard that when Elton was just a little school boy the piano was his only escape, so he kept playing til he got good at it and listen to him now. Elton, you’re one of the best.!
