I've had my Ioniq 5 since early March, great car. Highly recommend. We've gone full-EV now and aren't ever going back to gas. EV's are way too convenient and way better to drive. And the vehicle to load capability ran our fridges and lights for a full week after a big storm knocked out our city's power grid in the spring. That week only used 10% of my car's battery to keep the essentials running. This car is awesome.

It reminds me of the first gen VW Rabbit/Golf design by Giorgetto Giugiaro with the front grill taken from the 2010 Camaro. Just an appealing body shape that moves away from the giant pissed-off sci fi insect designs that too many cars of today have taken on. @@nicklikesradio EVs aren't going away. They're only becoming steadily more affordable...just like the Fords of yesteryear, in fact! As with every technological advancement ever, they don't happen immediately. But look at the adjusted price and the specs of the objectively groundbreaking Model S in 2013, roughly $75k adjusted base price and just over 200 miles of range. This Hyundai is better in just about every way than the original Model S and has a base of 41k ish. And that's not just Hyundai of course, that's EVs across the board. This is from a simple observer, by the way. I don't own an electric car, but I can still observe goings-on dispassionately and objectively, something most people can do but often refuse to for some reason.

It's hideous The overall exterior design might have worked but the front end looks like a thrown away van sketch Hyundai dug out of the trash can at a VW design studio in 2013 The interior is extremely pretentious and is everything wrong with EVs Also anyone foolish enough to make the promo and default interior of a car they are selling white is just plain trying too hard Mechanically speaking it's a good card But that's it, they worked from the internals backwards and they took the wrong visual cues from a cyberpunk craze that's already a decade old. Typical car company doesn't understand a craze and by the time they act up on it it's already old Which is weird to me since Syd Mead invented cyberpunk vehicular design and literally has two books dedicated to the very basic philosophy of how you design one(and even has made a few videos on why and how), so all they had to do was check him out to understand the whole thing

@@hendo337 first off, people were forced to buy gas cars. Henry Ford and the oil baron class bought up American mass transit options and defunded them and paved over entire neighborhoods of walking-distance living to replace them with highways to someplace ten miles away. In 1900, nobody needed a car. By 1940, everyone did. That's "forced". Second off, there were tons of downsides. Leaded gasoline poisoned GENERATIONS of Americans. Auto collisions killed thousands and made it a crime to spend time outside on the streets. Wars over oil have killed around a billion people in the last century or so. Third off, the quote Henry Ford allegedly said which he was referring to was "If I had asked the people what they had wanted, they would've said faster horses.'" He wasn't strawmanning at all. I'm sorry you get so bent out of shape over the existence of an electric car.

Please be careful with the EV6 and Ioniq 5 twins. I'm a Kia tech and we currently have three of them in the shop for malfunctions on different sub systems, on of them for a bad throttle module. I find them very handsome and they can pack a punch but I suggest waiting a couple years to get one. Or at least get an extended warranty so you don't have to constantly eat diagnostic fees

I first saw this car in London a couple months ago and it’s HUGE like a very very very big hatchback, proportions are great and design has definitely euro-taste but it’s a big car compared to let’s say a Golf or an Astra. With all that said, it’s a gorgeous sensitive piece of engineering. If I ever can afford an EV this would definitely be my choice. Brilliant review as usual.

Not going to lie seeing one these in a dealership a few months ago I actually did a double take on it and had to look it up. The design is actually pretty nice, not over the top bulky or excessive. Seeing inside it the interior is pretty nice as well, although I don't think I would want it in white. If I was going to buy an EV (once my 05 Matrix rusts apart) I would look at this car for my short city commutes. Of course I would need to look into it more and see how it does in the winter though, since I have 6 months of that to deal with here.

I feel like everyone must be driving different Hyundais than I have access to. I've driven their entire lineup since they entered the U.S. market in the 1990s and they remain the biggest rattletraps I have ever driven. From brand-new to broken-in, Hyundai's build quality has always been subpar in my experience even in the 2022-23 models. Side note: As the Hyundai marketing department will tell you, "It's 'hyundai' as in 'sundae.'" In other words, stop saying "hy-un-day," it's "hun-day." Love the video, as always!
