At first I thought you were going to make a scenario based on Lucy and David barreling down the street on a hospital gurney, dodging traffic a la quicktime events. I didn't think the subway scene would have given you much to work with, but David's Sandevistan ability is super cool to see. You definitely did it justice.

It adds atmosphere that makes it feel like we're right there with Brandon doing his thing, stopping and merely checking his source material before continuing on his pixel art. I bet there even is a proper term for it that's known in documentary film production.

Whoa, that's fricken rad!!! Totally knocked it out of the park again! The aesthetics of Cyberpunk (the Game) seem to work so well with this style of pixel art, everything from the characters to the environment. It's such a cool combination right from the get-go and the execution is amazing 🤩 Loved the little details too like the weathering on the train and the parallaxing background too The non-destructive effect layers are a feature I wish Aseprite would adapt in some capacity, it's one of the things I dearly miss from Photoshop 😌 It was a smart idea to use them to create the same repetitive effects reliably! Also thanks for reminding me that I have to catch up on Edge Runners 😎🍿 Gonna have to get on that one soon!
@BJGpixel2 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! Yeah I'll have to try out Cyberpunk 2077 at some point as well, but even just experiencing the world through the lens of the anime and then translating that to pixel art was a fun experience; I love the character that can be brought in to things like the HUD etc. Right, I remember seeing that Aseprite can use the 'Color' blending mode for layers, but no Gradient Map, and no formal Adjustment Layers either - wonder if it'd ever be added 🤔 Enjoy Edgerunners btw, it's quite a ride! ✌️😎

that's so incredible Bradon! Gameboy Advanced is one of my personal favorite styles aswell. just enough resolution for beautiful details and a wide enough palette to play around while stlil being in the limited pixely world of early games. oh btw the animation looks sick. the text might need some more time to actually be readable, and maybe a slightly bigger font size might work better too. but the scene feels really alive with all of the subtle things moving here and there
@BJGpixel2 жыл бұрын
Thanks dude! Yeah that's spot on, it's a great intersection of hardware and resolution - never had one when they were out originally but have been catching up ever since getting in to pixel art :D

Love your stuff. Pixel art is one of my artistic hobbies, it is part nostalgia but also part exercise in a kind of confined artistic expression. Working in a medium that is restrictive is challenging, yet freeing and exciting all at once. It has boundaries but there is no end to its possibilities. Keep doing what you do! It's rad.

There really is something about the GBA that hits that perfect balance in resolution and color. I tend to think PS1 sprite-based games were also pretty fantastic, but when I really think about it the limitations of the GBA's resolution add a certain iconic look to it. It's just enough space to be detailed, but not enough to go overboard.

I love how humans have spent endless time and resources to be able to now create basically photo-realistic and/or stylized animation with incredible fidelity and then some folks just go "Let's see if I can make the same thing from tiny squares like they used to!" haha. I'll never understand the appeal, but I really love the color choices and the amount of dedication even if it's not really for me. Keep up man!
