My spasms exacerbate with overthinking and anxiety. I do deep breathing and giving myself permission to rest. Placing a hard ball under the spasm seems to help a bit, and telling myself that this too, will pass; to just ride it out. But the spasms are painful and scary. Thanks for being there Bob & Brad❤

The one thing they did say that really works is the handheld vibrator. I have one in my nightstand and I got a spasm while in bed. I'm not going to lie it hurts at first but after a minute or two it starts to relax the muscle and the contractions will stop. You may have to do it multiple times. it just feels like you have a really stiff back like arthritis afterwards. But it stops the immediate pain of the spasm.

✨ Please can you address how to deal with back spasms when you’re on your own with no help around and you literally can’t move - no fetching pillows or cushions, no getting your phone, no crawling to a bed, no assistance of any kind. So often when an attack happens, we’re not in the best place, there’s no one to help or bring things, we don’t have anything to hand, and it’s absolutely terrifying. I’ve yet to see a video about how to truly cope when it’s just you. Every video out there about coping with back spasms shows people getting help or moving about in a way that the initial phase of back spasms just DO NOT ALLOW. Please help. No one else is responding to this question, but you guys are really good and I hope you will 🤞 Thank you

@misskim20582 жыл бұрын
@@rsign37 That does not address the question whatsoever. IF someone has a phone actually in hand and can actually place a call to paramedics, they’d still have to break in, obviously if someone can’t move. And likewise, they can’t get to ER alone. That’s the whole point of the question. And pain management and a PT for home? Pain management isn’t going to release a spasm. Is a PT going to move in and stay 24/7, so the person can call out for help? The question is about being alone, with no phone on hand, and Not. Being. Able. To. Move. At. All. If one has fallen, or is standing, when they’ve fallen and were not able to crawl out) and if one literally, (not figuratively) cannot walk, cannot crawl, and everything else that is already stated, then the person wants to know ahead of time what, if anything, can be done to release enough to crawl or walk and call for help. Otherwise, telling someone who is in a muscle spasm and can’t crawl, or walk, or even reach for a pillow or a way to pull oneself up to go to ER, or have a doc send someone to do PT in-home is like telling a homeless person to “get a job”, when the logistics of doing that require a shower, decent clothes…and a way to keep clothes clean, a way to wake up, a place to get ready, and a way to get to work.,.and eventually a safe place to sleep, because it’s hard to hold a job when you don’t ever get decent sleep, and maybe even are freeing outside. Shelters get full, and aren’t usually safe at all. Many shelters have all kinds of staff stealing what little they have, run drugs out the back door, there’s no privacy, and people can steal from one another when they’re sleeping or have stepped away from their stuff, they can also be assaulted and staff won’t step in. Some places won’t hire if you don’t have your own transportation, but even bus fare costs money; too. So, telling someone to go to ER when they can’t even crawl, or to have a doc order PT at the house, doesn’t really solve the problem or address the question at all, quite like telling the homeless to simply “get a job”. Both situations have many immediate barriers that prevent the very thing they are being told to do.

Recently my back "spasmed out" like four times during three weeks. I went to PT, things were getting better, I was finally able to exercise again (I'd been doing the core work that the PT prescribed) and then it happened again anyways (kinda my fault though, I got carried away writing something at my PC and didn't notice how I was sitting). I had enough at that point as my back had been hurting pretty badly non-stop for weeks... so I called a doctor, they gave me muscle relaxants and pain meds (I couldn't sleep as no position was pain-free) and the same day (yesterday) things got significantly better, and today I am able to function as a normal human. No side effects of the meds, although I was instructed of course not to drive. I'm not tired, just happy to be relativelly pain-free. I get the sentiment of trying to do things "med-free" but for me personally these back cramps would last 4-5 days of pretty severe pain and this way I am able to move and do some gentle exercise (and sleep!) so much faster.

Not for any kind of long-term drug use, but okay for 1 day. What do you guys suggest to get me through the flight? I do get up every couple of hours and walk around. And of course I stay hydrated. Advil just doesn't cut the pain for me. Any herbal supplements you suggest? I know things like magnesium are good for muscles, but doubt it's going to take away a spasm. I have tried tumeric, but it upsets my stomach. Suggestions?

Never experienced a back spasm? Let me paint a picture👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼 One day (yrs ago) I had my appendix removed. Dr told me afterwards that it had burst. For 8 days after, I rec’d alternate shots of demerol & morphine, I was on a triple antibiotic drip bc they we’re trying to reduce my 105.3° temp. In addition, I had 2 drainage tubes - plus the drs didn’t close up the wound b/c it had to be irrigated a few times a day Well, let me tell you - back spasms come in a close second… like a jolt of electricity shooting through you! It can stop you in your tracks b/c the pain it off the charts Well mine is & whoever is going thru this, please be careful & listen to these guys God Bless

I was innocently watering my tomato plant on the balcony when suddenly my back went nuts and I dropped my watering can. My husband had to half carry me bent over to the couch. I've been no good all day.

you guys are doing a lot of movement in your demonstrations for someone who is suffering in the moment of a muscle spasm. I literally want to pass out. No way i can do all of this movement without at least taking one muscle relaxer.
