@@BrotherTim I will have to disagree. Helen was perfect in her part and was also great with Opie and aunt Bea. Helen played the teacher part well and Andy loved her. Watch them on the show. Admiration for each other. It shows. Yes, I know he was married and divorced. Helen earned respect in the town of Mayberry but she never tried to take over the show. This doesn't mean Joanna wasn't absolutely great. Maybe he did not ask her to stay on the show. He had lots of ladies but they were not asked to stay on. I really do not think Joanna could have lasted 7 to 8 years. RIP to all the greats that still bring us joy and comfort, no matter how long they were on the show. We remember every one of them with respect and love.

I liked the friend or relative of someone who could outshoot Andy at the skeet shooting range. I think she was friend of Barney's girlfriend, now that I think of her. Her outdoing Andy in such a way was kind of a fun twist with a mild sexy flavor. But she was a one hit wonder.

@@teller1290 Second season episode, 'The Perfect Female' (Nov. 27, 1961) guest starring Gail Davis, 35, as Thelma Lou's crack shot cousin, Karen. Arkansas native Gail Davis, tv's "Annie Oakley" (1954 - 57) and Gene Autry's Flying A Productions' film and TV contract player thru portions of the late '40 to mid '50s, looked like she was born with that over-under (shotgun) in Karen's hands. What's remarkable, especially for "TAGS" fans, is that out of Gail's dozens and dozens of credits, this guest shot was her final onscreen performance! (ed. - according to IMDB). She was so good in 'The Perfect Female.' Andy definitely looked like he was having a good time. AND the writers wrote her character well. Most children in the '50s and early '60s were enthralled with Saturday morning live-action half hours like "Sky King," "Fury," "Buffalo Bill, Jr.," "Roy Rogers," "Annie Oakley" (sharp-shooting Annie with her little brother Tagg, about 12) in both first-run and network repeats, before ABC's, NBC's and CBS's switch to cartoons in the '60s. Lots of boys wanted to be Tagg; lots of dads wanted a shot at Annie. Can you imagine a hit sitcom today where part of the plot shows the male lead enthusiastically participating in trap / skeet shooting?! If it did get past the network censors several of the pc-minded advertisers would remove their spots for sure, meaning the networks couldn't afford to take a financial bath for that week's show. . . . And if Ron Howard was invited by an elementary school to be a guest speaker and tell the children what it was like playing Opie when he was their age; in the chance he brought that episode as an example, why, he'd by tarred and feathered by some of the staff AND some of the appreciative children's parents.

I was watching an episode of Andy Griffith off of Sundance, where Miss Peggy fills in temporarily for Aunt Bee. She comes over to Andy’s house and sees he burnt the chicken. She fixes up the place and gets a candle light dinner feast for Andy and Opie and herself. After dinner, they’re on the porch. Andy grabs his guitar. They’re singing. I forgot name of song. I grew up in Americus. She was 11 years older than me. I just turned 78 in February. Americus is also known for having two head coaches in the NFL AT THE same time. Most people remember Dan Reeves who died on 1-1-22. He was only 1 Year and 18 days older than me. I went to school with him ; 1st at a small county school New Era, then at Americus High where as a Senior Dan helped us win State Championships in basketball and baseball PLUS in football he broke his collarbone, missed 4 games, but he healed up and at the close of the season and we played and beat Dublin in Dublin 26-21 who won the State Championship at the end of the season and had also won the championship the year before the season. In the 4 games he missed one was a regional game and we lost it 7 to 6. Back then if you lost a region game you got disqualified for the playoffs. Dan was an All State basketball player and was drafted by a big league baseball team but in football he only was honored as HONORABLE MENTION since he missed those 4 games. His cousin Jerry Reeves was All State BACK OF THE YEAR that same year 1960. Jerry, a very good friend of mine, picked up an AMAZING 13.3 yards a carry that season. Both Dan and Jerry were invited to the Ga. North/South all Star game. Jerry had a good game. Dan was held out of the starting QB job till the North got ahead by a couple of touchdowns. The South coach put him in and he brought the South team back to a victory. Dan was awarded the Most Valuable Player of the game. Most of the other players were a year older as Dan started to school at the age of 5. The South Carolina Gamecocks had already offered him a Scholarship so with his fine character he turned down the opportunities many of the big southern schools offered him following that game. Charles Chappell, Americus, Ga. By the way the other Head Coach is Chan Gaily who was a QB at Americus High, later at Univ. of Florida Gators. He started as a Sophomore, and lettered 3 years. Chan coached at Ga. Tech for about 6 Years. Also I believe he was Head Coach at the Air Force Academy and one the Natl. Champ for the Division they play in. In pro ball he was head coach of the Dallas Cowboy’s, coached at Denver with Dan for a few years and a few other teams. He was also the Head Coach at another Pro Team up near New York

Beautiful tribute to such a beautiful woman. Such beauty and talent, a warmth shines through our TV screens whenever Miss Peggy was on camera. The sad truth is that Ryan O'Neal has hurt so many, many people who should have been loved by him. Kudos to Tatum for being there for her mother in her final days.

I remember Joanna Moore and her comfortable southern accent. Thanks for this informative vlog. You gave facts about the actress's life I had never heard. It proves again that bad things can happen to good people.

Wow, Tim, what an incredibly sad life she led. You did a very thorough tribute! I didn't understand what you said at the end after until next time, though.

Thank you kindly sir. I can only strive to be as good as you are with your tributes. I close out some of the videos by saying "until next time, the road is closed". My channel art says, On the Road with Brother Tim so I thought that would be appropriate. Thanks again for watching, it is an honor.
