Fun fact about that interview! Dr. Gundry tried to have it taken down due to “defamatory statements regarding Dr. Gundry’s medical advice.” All Dr. Mike had to do to beat the claim was tell the KZbin rep “watch the video. He made those statements, not us.”

If that's true Gundry knows he's skating in thin ice, cherry picking data. I've seen other docs that say, "eat this one thing to cure blah". Except the amount needed to cure anything would be far in excess of what you could actually eat in a day without getting sick - same as the fitness gurus that say doing it the way they say to do it will give you awesome gains (except you have to be pretty advanced as a body builder to even have the support of one's stabilizer muscles

A Hershey's milk chocolate bar (1.55 oz/44g) has 220 calories and 25g sugar. For the same amount of sugar, you could eat 156g of grapes, or 65 grapes for 104 calories. That's more than 3 times the food volume. Also, the chocolate has 8g sat fat, 5g unsat fat, 35g sodium, 1g fiber, and 3g protein, 160 mg potassium, 4% vitamin D, 6% calcium, and 8% iron. The grapes have 0.2g sat fat, 0.5 g unsat fat, 3g sodium, 1.4g fiber, 0.9 g protein, 191 mg potassium, 0% vitamin D, 1% calcium, 1% iron, 6% vitamin C, and 5% vitamin B6. The grapes have more volume, less fat, less sodium, more vitamin C and B6. But it also has less protein, vitamin D, calcium, and iron. Both are about the same for fiber and potassium. I could see looking at the nutrition and thinking that's a wash. But if you're trying to prevent weight gain, the 3 times volume of grapes for half the calories is a huge benefit to satiation. And of course there's lots of phytochemicals in the grapes that aren't reflected in the nutrition label.

The way he acts so pleased with himself after saying something contrarian really reminds me of some people I've come across in school and in engineering over the years. No matter what your IQ is, when you put your ego above the scientific method, you're functionally an idiot.
@David-qj1mr14 күн бұрын
That last line goes so hard. I'm banking that lol. One of the best things a professional can say when they're stumped is "I don't know! But I'll look into it and/or refer you to someone who might" I don't think Dr. Gundry would ever say that at this point.
@frankcooke169212 күн бұрын
Understanding why the consensus is correct requires understanding of how it was arrived at, but it doesn't allow you to show off how smart you are - because it wasn't your idea. But being contrarian enfranchises people with little knowledge of a subject to feel as though they are part of the conversation. And then other people with little knowledge of the subject go "this guy might be on to something - he sure is smart, and I must be smart for agreeing with him. I AM special". As a smoker I can confirm it is garbage. How much a garbage it is i will give you an example. I take a preworkout, it starts working, i smoke 1 and after 5 minutes it starts completely killing the preworkout. You get tired, wobbly and dont wanna workout. It is addictive for some reason because after few hours of not smoking you become angry at everything and you need a smoke to relax . Smoking relieves it for like 30 minutes and the cycle repeats. All in all a horrible drug and definitely not a stimulant. It is a downer being sold as a stimulant and more addictive than anything. I did pills and even was an alcoholic for a year or two, this stuff is more addictive. I hope I will quit soon, its killing my gains and my willpower.

You're forgetting that all sugar is not the same, this is why I hate the fitness industry and bro science. You guys seem to be stuck on the most basic of basics, the best example is calories in vs out makes you gain or lose which metabolically isn't true... You'd rather focus on energy/heat instead of what and how compounds, componenta and bio chemical feedback is interacting with your body??? 😳😳😳 Fitness industry... Really? Carbs for example besides being unnecessary as your liver produces a volume between 7.8-11.221% glucose, not only breaks down into a micro stresses and micro inflammation which effects every bio marker within the body but it also competes with vit C for Glut4 receptors and transporters meaning you need more vit c compared to if you excluded carbs. Then there's the feeding bad and good bacteria in the gut such as Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, lactococci, streptococci(only certain subtypes) Enterococci, Lactobacillus fermentum, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Lactobacillus paracasei, Lactobacillus gasseri, Lactobacillus reuteri, Lactobacillus salivarius, Lactobacillus helveticus Clostridium, Faecalibacterium, Eubacterium, Ruminococcus, Peptococcus, Peptostreptococcus, Acinetobacter calcoaceticus Bacteroides, Bifidobacterium, Streptococcus, Enterobacteriaceae, Enterococcus, Lactobacillus, Ruminococcus, and Campylobacter which again effects every part of the body... But naw, it's calories that makes the biggest difference right 🤣 gym bros... "We think we're smart"

The "Hershey vs Grapes debate" was a winner fosho! This is how everyone NEEDS to think; all things have nuance! Don't only consider the point of comparison the salesman offers, think of ALL other considerations that come into pay. Another simple way i try to describe "nutrition" to ppl attempting to eat healthy; "You wanna keep your calories low, but get as many nutrients as possible. So if some snack you're considering is 300cal, how many nutrients do those calories deliver to the body? You want the nutrient per calorie ratio ^high^." Vitamins, minerals, proteins, fiber, micronutrients, etc... these are all things your body needs to function properly, and can develop issues if not regularly supplied. The point of eating is to get enough of those without to much unused energy (calories). So use the energy or eat more efficiently! EDIT: LOL@17:30 ... your editor is the all time boss of ad integration : D Every... single.... time, he finds a hilariously coincidental place to insert it 😅

4:40 "Real doc" here (also a Russian Jew): Cigarettes do not relax you - nicotine is a stimulant. This is a common misconception. They relieve nicotine withdrawal symptoms (tension) and also the act of smoking might be a form of pace breathing, but the bottom line is that statement "cigarettes relax you" is wrong and misleading. PS. Love your videos, just felt obliged to clarify that.
@Tman00110014 күн бұрын
There seems to be a correlation of cigs relaxing some people psychologically rather than physiologically...still, the negatives just monumentally outweigh any possible benefits. I'm glad I never got into them. Also, one of the most expensive habits.

One would need genetics and exposure to get COPD. To my knowledge, we haven’t yet found a link, but that’s a possible reason why some end up living without the adverse effects of long-term smoking, and others end up with debilitating disease. This is why many know someone within their friend circle or family who has smoked for many years and is relatively healthy. Congrats on working toward quitting! Genuinely impressive!
