LOL!! I love you and miss you. I was definitely a feral kid too, but we had no food. So, . . . I was a hungry kid, and now I just suffer from food insecurity all the time. I think I've told you before, I eat ALL the food. If I make a salad, I eat ALL the salad. But if I make a lasagne, I eat ALL the lasagne. Anyways, . . . Now we have to parent ourselves. I love that concept.

Congrats, Heather for the awesome weight loss! 136! that's amazing!!! You go girl! I too was a latch key kid (feral, lol ;-) ) and have the skill to break in my own home too. Watched all those classic shows plus Andy Griffith, lol! Like you, at age 10, I babysat neighbor's kids, age 5, 3 and 2 months old. Crazy, I know!! I don't know how anyone trusted me but I had really enjoyed babysitting so that I can grab some hard-earned quarters to run up to the dime and nickels store for gums and candies. My brother and I were always doing dishes, cleaning house, laundry and cook meals too, lol! It's amazing that we still have great teeth for not brushing our teeth as we should! Thank you for taking me down the nostalgia road and see that re-parenting that I'd need to refocus more on self care and be kind to myself. Love you so very much, God bless you!

another great, video hon. next wk, u will be in the 200's, 👍I really enjoy ur perspective on things. I have thought recently, about being rewarded with food treats, when children, ours parents did it, theirs did it, & we did it. AND, i always remembered having a night lunch, from childhood, to age 66. It has only been these last 3 yrs., since following Chef AJ, & you & others, that i figured out, i don't HAVE to eat 3 meals & 2-3 snacks a day, it is ok, i will not die of hunger. It's ok, to not eat as soon as i get up !! As long as, i eat the right amount of whole starches to satiate me thru, i IF, from 5-6 p.m., to 12-1 p.m.. I am lucky, since i detoxed from animals & processed foods, i don't crave any more. & when i binge, it's on fruit. I prob told u this b4, i will be 69 Jun5th., lost 98 of my 100 lb goal, 5'1", was 3x ,now 10 bottom & small top, was 44BMI, not 27. tried to hide my size in baggy clothes, but, i think that just defeated the purpose. NOW, i actually LIKE what i see, in the mirror & camera, when editing our videos. Our channel is small, 400 subs. self care, yes, we need to do it, for our selves. I have never been so confident , either.no longer a yes person/pple pleasure, just to make every one else happy. I love love love being smaller, PLUS, i was nearly bed/home bound, by lot food/drink related illnesses. I healed them, got off 5 meds, no more CFS or fibro pain 24/7, no more cane. I am now back working side by side with my very supportive hubby. He is 8 yrs younger, so, it is my miracle , he will be 61, me 69. But, i feel 30ish, not 80ish. He even lost 40 lbs, not even trying, eating what i cook, 10-30 days a month. Ok, sorry so long, i just want to shout it from the roof tops. i know, u know xo💖💪🙏 💪 PLANT STRONG 🥦🍠🌽🥬🍅🥒🧄🥕 L❤️VE 💋 there is magic in them there veggies & fruit !! hehe but it's true !! ❣️❌⭕️

Heather, you look radiant! Your face is glowing and it made me smile when I saw your sweet face! So happy for your success!!!!!! The Lord bless and keep you on your trip. I was an only child and always alone. My Mom was a single mom and life was not easy. There is a saying ......."childhood is something we spend our whole life trying to get over" lol Food was my friend, inspiration and comfort......so, once again I'm starting over with my weightloss ! Sooooo, we press on! We will only eat to live, not live to eat! You are in my prayers. Thank you for your video. XO

Hi Heather--you have such an amazing connection with all of us and such a wonderful insight that I haven't thought of! I was just like you--a latch key kid in upper elementary & middle school years. I never thought of how that has affected me and what I deal with today tho until you put it into words. I think a lot of my security is wrapped-up in all those processed foods wrappers and those same afternoon sitcom tv shows! I loved the Partridge Family and Bewitched, and even Green Acres, PettyCoat Junction & the Beverly Hillbillies along with the ones you mentioned. I do think the tv shows were good for a young child alone to watch tv but the food I would consume has left me struggling at in my old age now. Thank-you so much Heather for sharing your heart with us--you are so strong, so inspiring, yes 136# is incredible in itself but you'll soon be in the 200s and you really are so pretty too! Thank-you for this message--I'm so grateful you love & accept yourself--and just say that everyday when you look at yourself--cause we all love you too!

You look beautiful :) Heather you can upgrade to a business class seat at the front of the plane if the flight is not sold out. I did that and it cost about 70.00 more, but the seats are much wider and more leg room, which I enjoyed since I am 6' 2". It was so worth it.

I’m praying for you. 🙏🏽 using the power of prayer...(for us both). Here’s the thing. I just finished reading “Can’t Hurt Me” by David Goggins. Well, I listened to it on audible. Like you, I was left as my parents worked . We didn’t have words like “latch key kid” back then. I was 5 & was told to tell anyone who might find out that my mother was working so we could have a nicer vacation. I was afraid alone. I spent time figuring out hiding places if someone wanted to break in, Rob, etc. We didn’t have food to snack on. I was to start dinner in the frying pan before she got home (meat ). I had everything...but I was told I needed more love than any of my older (and absent) brothers & sisters. I was just “needier”. My older brothers & sisters didn’t like me much. They had their own lives. Portion control was easy. If there was cookies 🍪 we could have ONE ☝🏼 ~ two on special occasions. I was hungry a lot. I was underweight. So for me, eating potato chips was heaven, French fries were absolutely heaven...now I’m 5’2” and over 200 lbs. I’m 72 years old, gained about 80 lbs. I’d WAY too hard to walk...impossible to stand still (3 back surgeries) and other things sinusitis, etc. Taking showers 🧼 is difficult, cleaning myself is difficult. I got a bidet and solved the privates cleaning part. But showers and even soaking in a tub is scary now. The shame is awful. My husband doesn’t know what to do with me...eat in front of me or shame me more. This is MY journey..MY path & No ones going to save me. I am in this with ME. I’ll use this pain to remind me that I’m in school to learn to remember that I’m precious and precious things need to be treated as such so they don’t break...and last. Thanks for your talk.

Oh Heather. So proud of you. Very Happy for you moving to your goal as you are. I have the same exact severe anxiety of flying because of the same reason. I thought I was alone in that anxiety. My friends and family think I'm bonkers. Also I think you and I grew up in a similar house with the exception I was an only child. Thanks so much for sharing. I don't feel so alone and ashamed of myself now. And love how your self parenting.

My Dad drove truck and most of the time my Mom rode with him. I spent years with baby sitters. First grade, I walk home, cook mt dinner, make my bed if it didn't get made in the morning. Sit and wait to hear the truck pull in late at night, get tucked into bed. Pretty much my life till 5th grade, they bought a truck stop cafe. Then I went to work ofter school waiting tables, washing dishes, peeling potatoes for french fries, don't ask me if I Like peeling potatoes.... Graduated from jigh school, no plan, no self-esteem, feeling lost and alone. Now 69, married 49 years, still feel lost and alone, hubby has Parkinson's so retirements plans are down the drain for travel. Sold the big 5th wheel and pick up, he can't handle it. Got little popup that I pull with little Toyota pickup. Don't go far from home. Wasn't my dream at all.

Hi Heather, I enjoyed this video. Self parenting...yes we all need a littleof that. My childhood was similar. Raised by grandparents who did not speak English, I was pretty much my own boss growing up. Heather you have so much to offer utube viewers, as you have been in the trenches of food addiction like so many of us. I sure hope you come back one day...we all have so much to learn from each other as we go forward. You are genuine and have a sweet gentle spirit. Be blessed. ❣

Thank you for sharing this. Mine was weird in a different way. I was forced to eat as much as I could hold down because my parents thought that was loving since they had both been so poor in their childhoods. I would eat until I was sick. They’d keep insisting to “ have more”. As a result I have struggled with never feeling full.

Sorry you had such a difficult upbringing. Remember..YOU are in control of your life now and you are doing a great job. Yay for losing...and being sooo close to being in the 200's. I am in the 200's too and had lost 20 lbs about 1 year and half ago an gained it back and am redoing it all and sticking to it better this time around. I am also enjoying the food better this time around. Maybe that is because I know more what to do this time than before and know some recipes that I like or can mix and match some foods and love it. I feel confident that it is going to work for me this time. Feeling better too. I have no doubt that you will be in the 200's the next time you are on here. Take care.
