My Miracle Story (Faith Based)

This is a very personal video, wherein I share my own testimony and experience with healing from food addiction.
My name is Heather and I'm from Portland, Oregon. I am eating a plant-based, whole foods, unprocessed diet, with no sugar, oil, flour or alcohol, to take off weight and regain my life. I once weighed over 436 lbs and have released over 110 lbs eating this way and walking for exercise. I call my channel The Butterfly Effect because I believe that all the small choices you make, over time, add up and have a huge effect on your life. I wanted to show people like me who have 100, 150, 200 or more pounds to take off that it can be done and we can do it together. I am far from perfect and have struggled with compulsive eating and been overweight for all of my life, but there is hope for me and there is hope for you too. I used and still use prayer. One of my miracles is so far lasting 33 years--I've been sober for 33 years and still no cravings for alcohol. And I've been plant-based SOS free for 8 years, also using my God for support along with like-minded plant-based buddies. I'm Jewish and miracles are working for me too. 👋 hi, I'm here cause I was watching chef AJ. I I'm a believer and I know that God's it's a God of miracle. When I start my journey with God I use to smoke 🚬 and I want it to quit, so on my last cigarette 🚬 I talk to God and I told him, God this is going to be my last cigarette and I'm not going to smoke no more and that was it for me. I was 30 years old. Now I'm 45 and I'm struggling with food. When I was watching you live, I cry to the Holy Spirit to help me and I went to the bathroom And when I came back I felt this urge to run and I start running around the living room and doing exercise and I was, like wow thank you Holy Spirit cause you're here with me and you're the one who gave me the strength to do it and The Bible says that I can do all things throughout Christ who strengthened me. Dear Heather, Thank you for sharing your story of healing and freedom in Christ. You were very open, honest and clear about your life struggles. However, you voiced your regrets about how much time and potential service were "wasted" and prevented you from serving others. May I just address that feeling of regret from a personal, positive standpoint. Those very difficult struggles have formed your character and enable you to understand and comfort others with the comfort you have received. Time is relative, God is not limited by time. You are still a young woman; there is no retirement in God's service; God willing you will have many more years ahead to go from strength to strength in the power of the Holy Spirit. "I asked to not want what I shouldn't have." This is so brilliant! I will be adding this to my prayer. I've been asking God that when the temptation to eat off plan shows up to please provide me a way out. NKJV 1Corinthians 10:13: No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. thank you for sharing your story, I'm currently "battling sugar cravings/addiction ", yes it does take the power of God to break that ugly cycle, all we need to do is ask , believe and receive by faith, I know that sugar even tho it does taste good, is really not that good for us, please continue to share your journey, I'm glad your back!

Of course, I find you now when I have moved out of Portland, Oregon!!! I live in Waikiki now. I have lost 180 lbs with this WOE and will continue for life!!! I still have 60 lbs to go!!! Wow Heather- you are awesome…..i have been vegan/plant based for 15 yrs….off and on……and i have been a born again Christian for over 35 yrs…..i pray a lot but never thought to ask God to take these cravings away….thank you for the encouragement to do so…like you, i just figured he had bigger world problems to deal with than my cravings….i ate 6 Oreos yesterday…..i dont even like cookies but i guess i craved the sugar…..blew all the good i did for my body all day…..i cant wait to journey through this with you ….Teresa winchell

That was a beautiful miracle story, so grateful to God for his grace and mercy. I have prayed that before, several times. I'm in recovery for drugs, alcohol, sex, and sugar. It's a struggle, but a beautiful journey to walk w Christ. Smoking is the next battle I'm giving to the Lord. So proud of you, thanks for sharing. ❤️❤️

I understand you very well, when I first became a Christian I was a heavy smoker I prayed earnestly for the Lord to take away the addiction it took 10 years your that prayer to be answered It’s been 20 years. Praise the Lord.

Laurie I eat great on plan , can easily resist temptation during the day. But after dinner.....I resist any self talk ...I EAT into early am.I feel so helpless with this addiction. Not hopeless...Hoping I can find something that clicks! Good Luck to us both!

YES, I did ask God to heal my heart and mind about wanting food that is bad for me about a month ago, and I too have lost the cravings for sugar and the bad things that I know have kept me overweight and physically ill! This is wonderful that he healed us of that addition! Thank you for sharing this~

I have had an answer to prayer. I was cured of multiple sclerosis. It has been 21 years and I have not relapsed! Praise God. Ask with a pure heart.

And thank your or sharing.. i had such a moment of clarity as you were sharing… i am addicted to alcohol and have been off of it for close to two years now.. it was a huge struggle in the beginning as i tried so desperately to do it on my own… finally i admitted to God that i can NOT do this… and to Him i give the glory of my sobriety….. i had so much shame around it and kept trying to justify it etc.. etc… when i finally and truly surrendered He took care of it! So why would i not do the same with other substances in my life! Oh my word!!! Yes… i am going to ask God to remove caffeine from my life.. it is a huge addiction… though i don’t drink a lot of it… thank you for your gentleness, kindness and heart to serve and share!!! God is so good!!!

Hi Heather - this is the first time I have heard someone say all the things denied because of their weight. I am 75 now, and, when I look back at all the things I have denied myself or put on hold until “I was the right weight or fit into the right clothes or go to a party or learn to swim or dance or accept a date” all because I felt too fat - the list is endless. In 2019 I switched to a WFPD after being diagnosed with some health issues. I love following a plant based diet. Losing weight was an added bonus. I wish you only the best in your journey towards a healthy and happy you!

God is SO good. Praise Him for your healing. I believe in miracles too and I am going to pray that prayer right after typing this. I had a miracle healing of a nose polyp several years ago and give God all the glory for it. Nothing is too hard for the Lord.

I so agree, because I always heard you change your brain and the weight loss will follow, I also just heard that every time we snack it is because of an emotional reason. I have been saddened by too many people who thought that they could do so and win. God helps those who help themselves. I don’t believe we should do less than our best. I hold these close to my heart ♥️ and they are precious. I don’t do this often…but you just brought me to the idea I need to do this for myself every day…bringing myself to that deep place way way way inside and asking for help in removing all that is not or holds me from making me what is best for HIS intention and the highest good. To place me in the center of that..to give me clarity to see and remove the distractions, the false desires of my body they presents itself as a lie and lift me so high the false desires can no longer be relevant. I really enjoy listening to you. I just saw you on chef aj and I can really resonate with a lot you've said. God is so amazing. Like your sugar addiction God helped me with my alcohol addiction. I just can't believe how I went from a major alcoholic to not wanting it one bit. My only problem is I traded one addiction to another. I can't stop thinking about food and it just consumes me.
