Nice work you saved a lot . I can’t believe they didn’t put the shims back in. That’s why your camber was off when you put the new leaf springs on. I’mglad you caught it. A lot of people don’t know you should jack up the truck before you grease it and take the weight off the shackles, then let it down. It’s easier for the grease to get in the pins smart move. I can’t believe they didn’t put the shims underneath the saddle, and sometimes the left spring has more of an arch on it in the passenger side because the driver is sitting on the left side and it evens out you might not had to change that spring.

Oh man, hope you work it out. Every days a school day and I know all diesel mecs have access to data sheets online detailing the specs of every part on every machine, have you thought of posting your struggles with Big Blue on forums for suggestions? Your very brave to take on these jobs on your own.... Get her done brother :)

I’ve been on a bunch of forums reading about the guys that had the same problem like I have, but unfortunately doesn’t seem like anybody knows what they are talking about on there. So I just decided not to post mine.

Without those shims that the other shop didn't use, you can almost guarantee that it was the cause of the leaf springs moving around.

Bandit, I forgot to mention, when you have the alignment rechecked, mention the position of the caster shims, if they were reversed the caster would increase.
@harleyhoracio114 сағат бұрын
I’m glad you changed all the parts that you bought bc if you didn’t change the $500 hangars, you’d always wonder if that could be the issue down the road. Plus, you were right there, might as well do it. The ease at which those shocks compressed is a little concerning to me. I know they’re relatively new, but I don’t think they’re suppose to be that easy to compress. Essentially, all you have is the spring doing all the work and maybe that’s why it’s hitting the bump stops. Time to trash the shocks and convert to air ride. You’ve already come this far.

Thank you my friend for your time videoing this.. I was wondering if at some point, having an alignment way back when, & which ever shop did it, put the wrong size castor spacers on, and since then until you changed the leaf springs, B.B. needs a different spacer on driver side & passenger side ? Again, hope this fixes the issue, have a Modelo or three.. Be safe.

There was definitely a few red flags with that front end that could have been the culprit for Blue's lane etiquette. Here's hoping you got things squared away and you can keep it between the mustard and the mayonnaise and shiny side up.

Hate to say it but that caster shim isn’t enough on your truck . Also the black shim under the caster shim isn’t correct. Looks like too many dummy’s got ahold of your truck. Sad that alignment shops dicking you around for 50 bucks work of 8 degree shims . Plus axle not pined to front axle. Needs way more caster than that. I believe it might even have wrong rear spring hangers but thats a guess with out measuring. So frustrating to see you suffer with this.
@OTRBandit17 сағат бұрын
All of these parts that I put on our factory parts. I gave them my VIN number and this is what they gave me. I talked to one alignment shop about putting 8 degree shim in there and he said he would not do it because it’s dangerous.
@docholiday103412 сағат бұрын
@@OTRBandit well I’ll tell you this. The guy that told you it’s dangerous is a complete incompetent a hole. Only thing increased camber does is make steering a bit harder at stop( something most of us know) but increased stability at speed. Most of the idiots doing alignments are only taught by the manufacturer of alignment machine and specs the oem gives them. Gliders are a different game when getting things correct. Sadly i think i know exactly the feeling your getting being a driver,owner operator also a suspension designer for many different vehicles. If your ever in PA go see Ferguson. His builds will do triple digits loaded all day long … no wander No stability problems. I actually dont see any center pins in your springs reaching down to axle either. I could be wrong on that… those black blocks we toss in the garbage. It lowers front of truck about an inch. Wanna call your alignment guys bluff? Tell him to get you 8 degree wedges ! He cant as he wont know were of how. This pisses me off. As i have done this for a living. Fixed so many problems it sickens me how simple geometry isnt taught to these a holes that set the tow and go. 10 min job with a tape measure a 15 year kid could do. Sorry buddy hate to see you suffer because of others stupidity

I was thinking the same thing about the center bolt not long enough to reach through that black spacer and the shim. What's keeping the axle from moving forward and backward ? Only the friction. I maybe missed something ?
