1998 Honda Accord Coupe EX-L V6 OWNERS REVIEW

A walk-around, start up, and full in depth review of my daily driver car, a fully optioned sixth generation Honda Accord Coupe. This is my second video on this car, I decided to replace my first take since the car was pretty dirty in that clip and I didn't start it up or film as well. This car is still my daily and she is not for sale :)

This was the second new car I ever bought in the first new car I bought basically by myself I was around 25 years old. I bought it at the Honda dealership on Broadway in Yonkers that I believe moved to Central Avenue years later I love that car I remember the tail lights Reminded me of the legend, it just look like a lot more expensive car than it was. I’ve remember driving the car home from the dealership and Police pulling up on the side of me asking me what kind of car was to think that car is 27 years old is crazy, I’m 50 years old now I will be 51 August 16, 2024 to think how time flies is an understatement. I always go back to the movie back to the future in that movie. He went back 30 years and it seemed like it was such a long time back, meanwhile if I go back 30 years, I’m basically at this Honda accord coupe. I was just looking at a record in my house from 1974. to think that Rocket is 49 years old if back in 1985 you told me you had something from 1936 I would’ve freaked out and said wow that is super old and it must be super expensive lol or it must be worth something but now I look around and I have a lot of things that age and older and I usually don’t put it into perspective until I think about things like back to the future. Going back 50 years or more is a thing not all of us get to do. I’m going to make a video with all the old things on my channel soon. Come check it out. Peace out yo

Good review. I really liked this generation of Accord coupe from the minute it was released. Imo, it has timeless coupe styling. I have a very low mileage 2002 EXV6 coupe in San Marino Red. My first choice was Noble Green, which is lighter than the Dark Emerald. But it was July, 2002 and one could not be found at any dealer in the area. There were plenty of sedans but I had to have a coupe. Honda was already tooling up for the all-new 2003 models but I hated the preview pics of the 2003 coupe. My dealer only had two V6 coupes in stock, one in flashy San Marino Red and the other in boring Satin Silver (yaaawn). I decided it was time for a little flash in my life and snagged the red one. I still have the brochure which features a red one as the centerfold.

Gorgeous car and you stole it for that price! My girlfriend has a 2012 Accord EX-L sedan and it's fantastic! I am looking at a 2001 Accord coupe for myself. I love the look of this generation coupe and they are dead reliable! Thanks for sharing, the only negative I have about yours is having two V6 emblems on the back is just straight up cheesy! Haha but you do you!

Designed and manufactured in the USA but not only for the American market, because it was also sold in Europe with some specific features for the European market (orange rear turn signals, absence of side position light and white front position light...). I have two.

My mom used to have a 1996 Accord sedan, then we had a 2004 Honda Odyssey, I’m fan of Hondas from the mid 90s to the mid 2000s. I currently have a 2015 Camry I also like Toyotas. Honda and Toyota are my favorite daily drivers. Even though Honda doesn’t make Coupes, I would love to have an Accord V6 Coupe, they are a lot of money, especially in good condition.

Wow your car is extremely idental to my own, having the same paint, same interior, even having the wooden trim in the center console. However mine didn't come with the spoiler, but I installed one on my own. I also changed the front bumper to an 02 model since I prefer that style. If I remember correctly it lines up perfectly and is super easy to do. 220,000 miles on mine and running strong. I live in Dallas, but maybe some day I'll see your beautiful accord, since I travel all the time. Cheers mate!

Clean your clutch pressure solenoid a and b, it’s one unit with three feed pipes and the middle one typically gets debris in the screen first. Also check your shift solenoid c. Best of luck!

If you tap the gas pedal to the door and realease while moving, it will downshift. Other than changing mg gears that how I got it to move. Had the same with 2002 and 2007 acura Tl (although they each had a sport shift feature)

As for the fake wood, came in all ex models, I had an 02 sedan ex had full leather sunroof and fake wood on the dash and the window controls on the doors on all doors.

I would bet the same gen civic would beat it off the line, theyd be neck and neck in the 0-60, but the accord v6 would pass from there. Hold this car in 3rd gear and it will pull strong and steady up to 126 mph, then shift to 4th and it continues into upper 130s pretty easily. I have not had a chance to drive an Si though, only a 99 prelude which I would think is pretty similar

Facts. Bought an 01 for 2k and had to spend another 2k for a transmission solenoid rebuild. And it's starting to go shitty again. Especially in cold weather.

damn, wanted to see how the transmission works, lol. I got a 2002 model and I didn't even know you could shift between gears, I just keep it on D4

my bad it was tough to film that part. Pretty much just start off in 2 and then I either full send it up to redline and then let off the gas a little and shift into D3, or shift at about 4k rpm if I'm being more conservative. And then once in D3 you can stay there for the power or shift up to D4 whenever for economy. When coming to a stop just shift down before fully stopping, I usually go down to 3rd at about 50 mph and then down to 2nd at about 20mph or less. Once you get the feel of it it becomes second nature and just kinda feels like a shitty manual. (which still beats a shitty automatic).

I have the same problem with my transmission I being driving it like that for 2 years ... Just have to shift them from 1 to 4 lol ... Motors are great ... But transmission are bad... Being slipping for 2 years and It hasn't broke down.

its a beater with 205k, ill probably just drive it to the ground as-is. If it had 50k less miles and a better tranny I'd probably do nicer 18" rims, lowering springs, an intake and fog lights. Overall these cars are pretty tough to mod and I think part of the cool factor is just how sporty they already look for a stock accord

i agree that’s expensive for one of these. Maybe if it was perfect in all ways with under 150k and lots of service records. Even then it’s not really a “good deal” it’s just a fair price if you’re confident that the vehicle is perfect and will last awhile
