Awww, Thumbelina is so adorable....I had a pet squirrel when I was younger....He like your little girl didnt know he was a squirrel ...He came up on my back porch one morning I shared by breakfast with him and 10 years later he was still coming up to my porch...I would let him in the house when mom and dad weren't home, they weren't as fond of the idea of a pet squirrel as I was...but my Dad knew what he meant to me and built him a little house...If I was late coming out to the back porch...he would go to the front of the house, climb up on the railing for the stairs and ring the doorbell with his nose then run back to the porch where we would have breakfast together...I would go to school and he would be waiting for me when I got home...His name was Petey and I loved that little guy...This was 40 years ago and a day doesn't go by that I dont think about him...❤🐿❤

@@luckycappy Hello Michito...I actually meant to write the end of my story but was getting teary eyed and just kind of ended it and left everyone hanging...Petey lived a long, healthy and happy life...We spent 10 happy years together...and as I said I saw him everyday, even if my family was on vacation there was always someone to check on him and leave him food in his little house with a flap door, he was always free to come and go....No matter where I went I could always count on his adorable little face pressed up against the back door waiting for me to come home...And one morning I got up, and hurried outside as I did everyday for 10 years, he wasn't there, I called his name over and over again but he never came...I just saw him the day before...I stayed outside all day and night just calling his name...but I never saw him again...I Iike to believe he passed away peacefully, knowing he was loved, under one of his favorite trees....I have so many pics that I still love to look at till this day ❤🐿❤

How old is she? I raised a female and she was my love as well. She got a litl notty though during her 'adolescent years' I'm guessing... She would scare me with these really weird noises She started making and she definitely got a litl more aggressive....she never hurt me ever...I remember having scratches on my bare shoulders during the summer from her jumping/springing from the bed onto my shoulders...or my back! I reintroduced her to nature later that fall in hopes of her returning to the wild and living her best life. She was my companion that summer of my youth and she brought great fun, joy and many special memories for me. I slowly brought her outside more and more and she would would run up & down trees and come back to me...play with the many other squirrels in my yard and run along the fence together. She once made an earnest attempt at building a nest in a tree...and I and my neighbors watched and laughed for the nxt week. More branches of leaves fell to the ground than stayed secure up in the tree. It was quite humorous and we found her to be just as diligent a worker. Her favorite was fried egg sandwiches..and she would bounce all over til she came over & then would tuck her head under the bread and ate half of both bread and egg and then lay full spread, belly full to contentment, bathing& basking in the sun on my bedroom windowsill and fall off to slumberland as if she were in the Catskills. She spent more and more time outside, neighbors would find her upside down on their screened doors and porches begging for a treat. One evening she never returned and my heart felt in half. Yet I reminded myself over and over that was the goal I had set out for her...to return her to her woods. I pray that the rest of her life was as magical as she was. We wete also in the Manchester Union Leader that summer or was it the Derry News? (I was from Derry, NH) I cannot remember now but still have the old newspaper somewhere. We were front page my squirrel and I. I was proud. She brought many laughs and all those memories...of helping a strange lit'l defenseless critter that day in the summer of my youth, has never left me... she made my heart full 🤍 I absolutely delighted in seeing/watching this video!!! Brings me back.....and fills me with that special kind of love all over again. 💕 Thank you

reminds me of my little Cheezit, we met at a Rainbow Gathering in Michigan back in 02. He must have been a pet before I found him passed out in my tent after he'd eaten about 4 grams of my bud stash because when I stopped giggling at the sight of the little fuzzy stoner snoring away with little flecks of green in his whiskers I opened the flap and indicated there were no hard feelings between us (squirrels deserve a buzz too) and he was free to leave he just crawled up onto my shoulder and started playing with my hair. We spent 3 awesome years together before old age took my little Cheezit and I will cherish every memory for the rest of my life

She's Precious!!!💖🤗... I too, have raised Many Baby Squirrels... And I had a few like Thumbalina... Who didn't want to be released!!!... The One I had the longest was one I named "Baby"... And Boy was she!!!🤣... She had access to the outdoors... But spent most her time inside w/ me and My Girls!!!... All she wanted to do was Eat, Be Loved, Cuddled, and Played with!!!💖 ... I fed her a very Healthy Diet and she got plenty of Exercise and Lived to be 22 yrs. old!!!...I think their average life span is about 6 yrs... So she did quite well... And was still quite active when I lost her one day after she climbed a Telephone pole after a flock of Turtle Doves had flew up on the lines and she went to investigate and was electrocuted by an open Transformer.😓😢😔... So Please... Even if you don't rehab Squirrels... If you have Squirrels in your neighborhood... Ask your Power Providers to put what's known as a Squirrel Gaurd on the Transformers in your area!!!... PLEASE and Thank You!!!🤗 I still Miss her Terribly and think of her often!!!💖😍🤗... 💖God Bless Everyone who Rescues and Helps God's Sweet Precious Creatures!!!💖🤗😙😃😍😉

@So Cool1 so, what about pet dogs, cats, birds, etc, etc., Or are squirrels different in YOUR eyes!?
@dilannadsjayath62965 жыл бұрын
@So Cool1 okay. You don't even KNOW who tf I am. Calling people stupid won't get you anywhere in life, and that's YOUR opinion. Go tell that exact same thing to bird owners and pet owners, alike. Oh, and I'm guessing you are the type of person to leave a sick, injured squirrel baby whose mother is dead, to suffer and pass away right there on the road. Don't you DARE try to deny it. You are the type of person who thinks ALL squirrels should STAY in the Wild, but the fact of the matter is, some squirrels are OK with staying with the said owners. Squirrels have so many natural enemies outside, like cats, and birds, etc., So if and when a squirrel CHOOSES to STAY with the owner, let them!!!!!! That shouldn't concern you because YOU are NOT the one who is taking good care of those squirrels. If a squirrel that I took care of, decides to come right back and stay, and if they want to build nests in my home, I will let them!!!!!! I LOVE to take care of the squirrels, and usually, I try to release them. It's up to THEM if they want to come back to us, or not.

Watching these beautiful baby animals get rescued and nurtured back to being healthy happy pets ready for their Forever Home. And we especially know how it is being a foster. You just get those certain fur babies that come in your home that chose you as their Forever parent. We ended up keeping 6 different fosters. And 4 were to be but down for different reasons for all. And we can never see our lives without any of them. Our 1 dog from our fostering days is laying between my wife and I shaking horribly. We have ppl shooting fireworks on Christmas Eve. WHO SHOOTS FIREWORKS ON CHRISTMAS EVE?! But we'll press tight against her from both side, & send positive energy & love to her. To keep her calm until the fiasco finally stops. Merry Christmas Y'all

(If we have pizza we have to put her up then throw the crust to the dog because she will steal the pizza, for some reason she really likes pizza.) But that girl is right when people say she just a squirrel why rescue her every animal has feelings and can feel pain no matter how big or small it is.

Many years ago I rescued an abandoned baby squirrel. I bottle fed it until it could eat nuts. I loved it and named him Jake. After a few months I realized I was being selfish to keep him cooped up in a house, and that he'd be better off living in trees. I released him at my mom's house in the country. He lived happily for many years and brought my mom a lot of joy watching his antics.

MaLLinz289 That’s not overly surprising. Squirrels will forage over a wide territory but tend to come back to the same places. And if the squirrel associates the house with memories of food, safety and comfort, it will likely want to stay nearby.

Vivian S she is not killing the squirrel... all squirrels can get chubby but it’s not right for the people in the comments to be calling them fat or saying she is dying its like a person basically when people are chubby they don’t say they are dying...
@Zizzyyzz4 жыл бұрын
@@tropicalkiwi3552 Still, squirrels in captivity are a lot more active, so it is important to be careful with how much they are fed.

not that fat, it's the way she's sitting that makes her look so fat! look at 2:33. She's plenty agile and in good shape. She's got a liiiiiitle bit too much weight, but nothing major. When she sits like a human, she sure looks huge though XD One thing is for sure: She's adorable AF!

Precious. I have several squirrels around my home that know I'm a constant extra food source for them. They forage and everything, but sometimes you just gotta have peanut butter :) They come up on my deck and look in my window, in this pose, as if to say "would you have a morsel you could spare?" They're adorable creatures.

I had a small Yorkie and she thought she was a human. She would jump on a chair, put her paws on the table like we did and eat our food when we weren't looking. If we had a family meeting she would get mad and bark for us to let her on our laps. She loved to cuddle with us and if i cried she would snuggle with me and lick my face until I stopped crying. My poor baby Tilly passed away two weeks ago sunday. She was hit by a car while a lady wasn't paying attention to the road. This is why you should pay attention. The lady may think she just killed a dog but that's not true. She killed a living, breathing small yorkie who thought she was a human, and she killed my heart. Every time i think about Tilly, she kills my heart again. Please pay attention when you are driving.

I am so sorry for your loss.......I had a yorkie when I was a little girl It was my best friend in the whole world. (Penny) helped me get through a childhood with domestic violence and gave me the unconditional love a comfort I so desperatly needed. I mother gave her away and it broke my heart. So I know how hard it is to loose a pet that is your world.

no kidding was thinking two things... could never survive the wild cause couldn't outun anything & someone needs a diet... who'd ever guess it was a squirrel... (honorable mention... doesn't like to jump? wonder why)

@@mikes8434 Honestly, I've had six pet rats over 5 years, and it was the same story every time. I got them, they were blazing fast and high on energy the entire time. Then, after half a year their personalities settled and they calmed down. After that, there was always one that got fat. Two of them would stay normal, one would live like a Greek god. It got to the point where I he slept next to the food, because late-night snacks were his favorite. My " two fatties" both died last. They used to jump and climb, they stopped. Diet worked for a little while, they got even fatter afterwards (they share the same food source). So for a tame squirl? This isn't that weird. But, all the small snacks are bad, doesn't matter how much they like them.

I love that this video shows how unique every animal is and that when we see pigeons, or flocks of sparrows, or squirrels running through trees in the parks, that each one of these single animals has an individual personality with their own specific likes/dislikes, preferences, behaviors, and “emotional” life. Their emotions may not be exactly like ours or as complex, but humans aren’t any different from other animals when we look at our very basic needs, wants, and desires. All animals (including humans) have the need for food, water, and shelter. All animals (including humans) want safety, to avoid pain, and experience fear. All animals (including humans) have a basic instinct/desire to procreate, and most mammals and birds, have desire to be social and form partnerships, families, and/or social groups. People should have more empathy towards animals. We share the planet- it’s their world too.
