I'm curious too! Surely at this age without a mother it's appropriate for them to take care of her. But I am curious about the older bears.

As she doesn't have a mother, she wasn't raised to hunt and protect herself in the way that only a bear could teach their cub. Plus, being raised by humans, she's dependant on them. Sending her into the forest would be confusing and frightening for her and she'd be unlikely to survive. They actually do release some of the bears! For example, if they interrupt a poaching of an adult or young adult bear, they'll take them back, treat any injuries and put them back in the wild. But if the bears have injuries that would greatly hinder their chances of surviving, they keep them safe in the sanctuary. Some poaching traps or brutally inhumane and their snares are more than capable of slicing off their limbs. Survivors from bear bile farms (don't google it, it's pure horror) are often not legible for release as their constant maltreatment means they'll likely need a lifetime of care after what they've been through, as is the case with rescued dancing bears I've worked with FTB a couple of times. Not a member of them, just a volunteer
