Kristenleannimal hey, something my reptile specialist vet told me when I got a leopard gecko with an impaction. Was to syringe feed a small amount of liquid cat food to my gecko. It’s a huge amount of protein for a gecko and forces their stomach to cleanse everything out. Would recommend you see a vet about this, as I don’t remember how much I syringe fed. Could possibly help your problem.

Someone brought in a leopard gecko to my job, the kid didn’t want it anymore, he was on sand, his meal worms were all over the sand, he didn’t have any water and i was so disgusted and horrified i had to bring him home. So now i have an amazing gecko called sully who hopefully now will have a long and healthy life

I'm guessing that the one water dish was covered in Hard water deposits and lime scale. It was probably never cleaned between water changes. I bought a Boa off of someone last year that had never cleaned her water dish, and it was covered in lime scale. Had to soak it in vinegar and scrub it. Would have just tossed it, but it was a $30 Zoomed repti-bowl.

I “rescued” 2 leopard geckos from a pet store, the store was family owned and was not a chain, but they had no clue what they were doing. My one female is 2-3 years old, she had no humid hide at the store or her previous owner. Her nails on some of her toes are missing and she had a bloody toe when I got her. Now she has a proper humid hide and that bloody spot cleared up! She’s a very good geck, she seemed to be quite underweight as well, but she is now about 60 grams she was 30 or 40 when I got her so she’s very healthy now! :)

Omg my heart 😭 we just got our third leopard gecko this weekend and they’re all my whole heart. I was going to suggest the olive oil but you said that at the end. Lol I would feed them crickets because they’re easy to pass as far as the poop issue. I know you can give them massages on their belly too to help any digestive issues. That really helped our little girl out recently. I’m also happy to see they seem to have healthy looking tails 😭 I love these videos. I wish I lived closer. I’d take them in a heartbeat. 💕 good luck though! 💕

Good luck!!!! Rescued a bearded dragon found in a park in February. He was so cold he couldn’t move for an hour and a half with heating pad. He is doing well now but 2 broken arms ... he still gets around and one eye sunk in from dehydration. You have a big 💜

Leopard geckos truly are one of the most neglected pets on my experience. They are treated as "throwaway" pets or just unintentionally neglected due to not bothering to do reseach. Btw these two are adorable 💙

When I got my leopard gecko she was homed in sand also. She wouldn't eat for weeks. Now shes so happy and has a nice set up and loves being held by my kiddos (obviously not all the time)

Your an angel. I have a female chameleon I have had the pleasure of taking care of ( which are very temperamental and need lots of care) . Anyhow I rescued a little male that had rot mouth and was severely underweight and extremely fearful! I’m currently working on nursing him back to health ( god willing and lots of care and time)! I wish people did research before purchasing ANY pets!

Wild Leopard geckos almost primarily will live in burrows they have dug on there own. So I’d recommend using some terra Sahara or some substrate they can burrow in, and holds moisture well below the surface, because they will definitely make a burrow if given the chance.

I rescued a Leo off craglist as well. Her front toes are numbs and she clearly had some MBD. I do my best making sure she doesn’t have stuck shed and all the vitamins she needs. Her owner would just throw dubias in the tank and leave her. Hazel hates baths but I feel much better getting all her shed of rather than letting her loose more toes

My leopard gecko was rescued to. He has no toes and he’s blind in one eye. He looked horrible wen I first got him. He was all foggy. But he wasn’t shedding. As soon as I got a heat light he looked much better! He still has trouble eating though. ( because he’s blind in one eye he has trouble seeing the food.) but I love him! He’s such a good boi!

All three of my leopard geckos are rescues. My first one had spent her entire life on sand, did not have some of her toes, shed very badly and was malnourished and impacted. She was tiny and I feared she had weakened bones. She's much healthier now, sheds normally, is confident and impaction is no more. My second was a former breeding male, his skin was absolutely vile and he refused to eat his shed once he finished shedding. He was absolutely tiny and I genuinely feared he would die within the next few days of me saving him. I had to put him on slurry for a two weeks since he refused to eat, now he's a completely normal and healthy gecko and has such a funny personality (though I fear this is more neurological as he's a morphe). My third is still a baby, her tail was pulled off by a child and has never grown quite right since. She feared humans and most everything, it took me months to tame her and now she happily sits in my hand. I think a lot of people dismiss reptiles and assume they feel no pain and do not need to be tended to as well as other animals, that is not true at all. It saddens me so much that this is going on still, and will for many years. Thank you for rescuing these poor babies, I know they'll have a wonderful home with you. ♥️ Edit: imagine the relief she must of felt when you removed the shed from her front feet. These poor girls.

I came across an ad last month and rehomed the geckos. The problem was that the male, Zeus, was suffereing from MBD and the current owner was oblivious to it. He believed he was just a little sick from digestive issues from eating his shedding. Another thing with the male was that he was an enigma, which he knew nothing about himself. The female, Athena, was very dominant in the enclosure and the husbandry was horrible. At the time, I still have the female, but the male was given to a foster that specializes in reptiles and reptile rescues out here in Riverside County. The ad on craigslist was so misleading, but I knew I had to get them out of there.

At least they look cubby. I rescued 2 and I think their growth was permanently stunted because I’ve had them for almost a year and they aren’t getting that fat. They eat well and their tails grow but their bodies don’t seem to get too chubby.

I have a rescue Leo as well named Chubbs. He has some neurological issues and has to have special care. I’m thankful I got him rather than some random person because otherwise he would most likely be dead. He’s almost 2 years old now!

Now all I can think of is our leopard geckos. We had three but the oldest one died couple of years ago. Now we have two left and they are over 20 years old. Now you can see that they are kind of old and tired but they still have some spunk left.

I adopted a leopard gecko nearly 4 years ago and she was about as big as that Hypo you have! (the yellowish one) and we always called her chonk ( she was 90-95grams consistently even though she only ate twice a week). Once i got her i put her on eco earth afte her ownser had her on sand and in november (2018) i found out that she was actually severely impacted but it hadn't affected her til it slowly caused a blockage! I took her to the vets after she stopped eating and thought it was just her ovulating but found her severely impacted with the first stages of calcium deficiency! We instantly put her on a liquid diet and a medicine to flush her which did the trick for a month and she lost ALOT of sand. All her chonk was actually sand! :'( After about 4 weeks she ate her first morio worm but unfortunately her intestines were too damaged and she couldn't pass the worm and died afew days later :( I only held her afew hours before then when i came back from work she was gone. So i am STRONGLY against sand as a substrate. Me and the vet were both shocked to find out she had this issue for so long! She had been to the vets before this all started for regular check ups and she was just so healthy! It was heart breaking. Now im always worried when i see really really fat geckos on sand. I now use arcadia earth pro substrate and its fantastic. I also rescued a baby leopard gecko from my local store. They said it was a dominance issue in the group but this guy was 4 inches long and weighed 5 fucking grams!!! 5!! (i wish i was joking) he was gorgeous, named him pickle. My vet told me to give him small amounts of this supplement food (critical care??) and he perked up a little. But 5 days he eventually passed in the night due to impaction :( The shop immediately replaced all their sand enclosures to something more suitable.
