Alcohol Inks in Epoxy Resin - The Ultimate Guide to Timing plus GIANT 8" Rainbow Petri Dish Clock!

Using alcohol inks in epoxy resin is all about the timing. Different brands of resin poured in different volumes will all need different timings to produce the various stunning effects. Using this video as a starting point will give you the best introduction to figuring out the timings for your own resin and moulds, meaning less waste and more success!

@@BoojiePanda Hi, at this time of the year in the UK my house is heated to 23°C (73.4F) during the day but will drop to 18/19°C (64.4/66.2°F) overnight. The relative humidity is currently 60%. ♠

@@resinAce thanks for the info! The resin I use has recommended temps during cure time (21C to 23.89C / 70F to 75F) and I typically keep it at 73F for 24 hours while curing. We try to keep it at 34% humidity or thereabouts (hubby won't let me go higher, something about causing ice in the attic and damaging the wood in the winter), which seems perfect for the art resin I'm using (The ArtResin brand here in the US). I've got one of those silicone pans in my cart at Amazon, and am looking forward to trying your experiment at the 20 minute and 30 minute marks, how exciting!! Thank you for always being so patient and answering questions, and for your videos!! I'm relatively new to working with resins and epoxy and I always learn something new from you.

When you added the white, the alcohol ink just burst with colour, in clear epoxy resin, you could barely see the yellow before you added the white, the yellow was suddenly like “here I am!”

Thank you so much for sharing this video. I didn't know that at all. I've been having troubles with pinata ink art. I did my project of epoxy resin coaster and tray but I couldn't do cells and lace well ! I didn't even know how can use white pigment paste! lol in my country , we can't get it easily because its kind of expensive and rare stuff. Popular stuff ' castin craft white opaque pigment' is 230$ at Amazon Japan! ! 😵 well ...I think I have to find good white pigment paste .

Thank you, it's all in the timing and every brand of resin may be different. If you drop the ink onto the resin and it spreads across the surface very rapidly then that's a sign that you've probably gone too early.

I love your work and was inspired to try the clock. Unfortunately, I bit off more than I could chew. The clock wasn't as beautiful as yours but it was ok for my first big piece. My issue was the mechanism. I could not drill through to attach the hands. How are you supposed to do that? Can you tell me what to use please? It makes all the difference. It's a sign you're too early if you drop the ink and is spreads quickly across a large area of the surface. If it hardly spreads at all then you're too late. You have to find that 'middle ground'.
