Retired and Living in the Philippines/What is a Typical Day?@paulinthephilippinesolddog9234I respond to viewer questions about what a typical day is for me in the Philippines
I think the secret is to enjoy a peacefull life. Forget about the stress of life before. Simple things are good, decent food, friendship, pass times, having a snooze. Eveyone is different. Just enjoy. Happy retiment old dog.

Thank You and Baby Mae for including me as One of those guys you met in person during one of my trips to Dumaguete as I have been watching for years in my journey and adventure and have take so many notes it has become a notebook. And YES Baby Mae is even Hotter in person as Paul is a Lucky old dog to have her and says something about him to have such a Beautiful classy lady that also has a fabulous caboose, face and sweet personality. I know your MORE busy now then ever in the states but amazed How much you dedicate to Expats, the Community and to the Filipino people. Not to swell Paul's head but you are a Great example and leader in the area. I didn't like allot of expats there at first and now see it as being Selective as I actually found it easier to connect with Filipinos and even more so on second trip. We all need to find our own Niche as the "Learning Curve" is more so then in the states. But will always employ the Adjust, Adapt and Accept adding Patience in there Thanks, other Paul

Hey Paul I lost 30 lbs. myself after gaining little by little after a few years. It was a gradual weight gain. I asked a friend who lost 30 lbs. himself how he lost it. He asked me if I drank. I said not really once in a blue moon He then asked me if I drank soda. I said yes. He told me to stop drinking soda & just drink water. I asked him about my diet. He told me it wasn't my diet. I did what he told me & lost 30 lbs. in 3 months. It was the sugar in the sodas that built up over time. It was amazing. Glad to hear you lost 30 lbs. & you are doing well.

Glad you brought up keto... I've been in it for a couple years now and it is an important part of my life. I have asked many YT people to do vids on what meat costs (not chicken/fish) and the availability of it. No one has done one yet.. Keto is simple. Few carbs No sugar Small eating window 8 am to 1 pm Fasting a couple times a month is very easy but I hardly ever do it now Only good oils/fats (coconut/avocado/olive) Went from 305 to 205.... Currently up to 225 because I went off the reservation for a couple months.

Understandably there are a significant number of people who are both retiring and moving overseas at the same time. I was retired 5 years in the US before moving overseas. In my opinion it is retirement that is the big issue with respect to the question - what do I do with myself each day? It doesn’t matter where you are for that to be a big issue in your life. Moving overseas and adapting to the challenges that entails is just one of the things you do to fill your time . . . for a while. When you move overseas you bring your physical and mental baggage with you.
@L4P-Monk Жыл бұрын
IMO… all your life your baggage will follow you. I’m retired and an expat. Thank the Lord. The physical baggage was easy to 86. Be that as it may, I am so glad to be navigating the challenges of life as an expat. Compared to the alternatives it’s a blessing. My sister said I was brave. I think I am very fortunate.

Paul, I just watched your video interview with Regular Guy. I am responding here, because I want you to see this. Paul, I was touched literally to tears with that interview and particularly your final thoughts that Baby Mae was your 'project'. And it led to you saying you are living your best life, and are happy, not afraid of death, you are a believer, Christian etc. I was just so overwhelmed by that, and just wanted you to know that what you are doing is just a wonderful thing. You do not need to hear that from me, but Paul, I needed to hear it, and I needed to tell you. Thank you....

Good job on the weight loss. I did the same dropping about 70. It's not really that hard on paper...putting it into effect however...lol. Gotta drop all the processed packaged foods full of sugar and salt. No fast food. Limit restaurant eating. No breads or grains. Eat fresh whole foods including lean meats, fresh fruits and veg. Snack on seeds and nuts. Go easy on the booze and beer. Cook using healthy oils like avocado, olive, coconut. Once you implement this diet it becomes easier to maintain and the pounds will start to melt off.

Excellent video Paul thank you for sharing. I’m glad you’re on the carnivore diet I have been doing it for years. I wish I could’ve met you last July in Siquijor but Mae had strep throat and that’s life. Timing sometimes is good or bad and because of the Covid nonsense I ended up meeting my Filipina thru internet and friends ‘nagging’ me to use internet ( part of a long story I will share with you when we do meet someday ). I’m still working on getting my Filipina here in the USA. When that happens you will be one of the first to know because you and your videos helped me prepare for many things from travel at Covid times to understanding differences of the Philippines upon arrival so thank you again for all you do. Most excellent on the one meal a day, intermittent fasting and the carnivore diet. Your health will benefit!!!! You can tell the difference with your weight loss. Some time maybe you would be so kind as to do a talk about where you shop and what you eat in a typical day if you don't mind.. That is one of my biggest concerns about moving to Cebu is the food choices. I am full carnivore as well as my Philippines girlfriend I did find Landers (kind of like a Costco setup), and they have a better setup with the meat and egg choices. Thank you again.

People need to realize that we will face this topic regardless of where you are. Retirement is the transition from from "prison" to freedom. In prison your routine is imposed, so you basically don't have to think, which makes freedom "scary" to some people.

When people ask what do you do there, you should ask them what they do where they currently live? Outside sight seeing for the first little while, people tend to gravitate to what they do where ever they live. Myself I adjust based on the season. In the summer when the weather is nice, my friends and I get together once or twice a week, go golfing, play baseball, bbq, go swimming, all those summer activities. On my own I will go hiking or biking. In the winter my routine changes a little because the weather isn't conducive to all the same things I did in the summer. With the invention of indoor golf simulators we do get together every couple of weeks for a night of indoor golf. We will get together to watch a hockey game. I tend to travel south to enjoy the warmth every now and again. I tend to read more and watch a few more shows on tv. If I moved somewhere else, I would probably explore for a while until it became routine and then I would start back into the things I have always done where I currently live. It is surprising how much time is taken up just by living; things such as cooking, cleaning, shopping (groceries), getting the car repaired, etc.

As a kid, I saw a lot of these foreigners, would drink beer early morning, I kid you not! One particular guy was a German so I always thought as a kid, all German are alcoholic lol! Others were American foreigner, it was crazy how they would drink all day, by the time, I come home from school, they were still drinking. I have been watching your videos for a while now, and these are all I think at the back of my mind. So now I can go shopping for a house for my new family and I to live in. Hopefully we can get this done in January, so I don’t need to find another expensive Air BnB to stay in, during February… When I permanently move there in June, then I’ll have a base of operations, and I can go exploring. I can definitely say that my first year of living there, I won’t be sitting idle! Thanks for a look into your retirement life, Paul 👍

Hi @MyLifeThai371 Thanks for sharing! We've had some fun days out at those malls ourselves.

I have been here 2 years now and my biggest problem is weight. It seems no matter what I do I can't loose weight. Walking and sweating helps some. Your weight loss is amazing.

Hi @lavonyoung2366 Thanks so much for sharing your experience! 🙏 It can be challenging to maintain a healthy weight in the Philippines, especially with the delicious and abundant local cuisine. I'm glad you've found that walking and sweating helps some, as it's important to find activities that work best for you. Keep up the good work! 💪

Sir Paul, so I should thank the "vid", for motivating you to start a KZbin channel that guided me on my year-plus adventure in the Philippines? 😅 Thank you for ambitious endeavour(s). So helpful and on point. However, I'm a person who needs context. After I arrived 9/12/22, I stumbled around for nearly a year...then your videos really made since😂. I had to face my own western interpretation and communication issues, but learn to see the BS and to handle it in a responsive but respectful manner (who's looking to get barred?). Accepting the contradictions and transactional nature of the Philippines is a real challenge for me (sign says, "don't feed cats" while people sit next to it...feeding the cats!). Oh, don't get me wrong. Contradiction are not unique to the Philippines. But it has a special twist. No need to say more...remember, who's looking to get barred?😅 You sharing your story/journey and insights have helped hundreds, if not thousands. What a legacy. I wish you many more years of shooting the "S" and sharing your perspective. However, about driving "I'm a walkin' man, no time to talk", "stayin alive!" d...formerly Big D! 😂

My typical day with my Asawa... wake up to cooked breakfast (sometimes I cook to return the respect). After eating, she gives me my bath by hand. From there, we do whatever we want together. For us, being together 24/7 is best for us. Once a month, I fly us to another location in the Philippines. A province girl. She never expects anything I do for her. She's my Gwapa Asawa 😉.

One of the biggest questions I've had about moving to the Philippines is how easy would it be to maintain the Keto diet I've been on for the past 3 years. Is it easy to buy quality meat over there? Do you find restaurants accommodating of your needs?
@paulinthephilippinesolddog92348 ай бұрын
Hi @johnkulik887 Quality meat can be a challenge, but we've found some reliable sources. Restaurants are getting more keto-friendly, especially in Dumaguete.

the charge for subbing to a youtube while true isn't monetary but its your time and mental expenditure of energy and processing power, so not free. if you value your time at zero then it costs you zero I suppose. also if you pay to remove ads, youtube is trying to become a subscription service similar to a netflix, close to 20 a month.
