Sitting down with two friends on a stormy day. All the light off, all the shades drawn, sound way up. Just two of us watching the one friend that has never played before take this game on. That's a core memory.

Dead Space 1 and 2 are still the pinnacle of sci fi horror for me personally the atmosphere of both games just blow me away. Extraction is an amazingly faithful on rails shooter to the Dead Space universe and the criminally underrated Dead Space Mobile that was a prequel to Dead Space 2 deserves to be talked about more it was so faithful to the source material in Dead Space 1 and set up 2 beautifully

I'll never forget convincing my best friend, Zach, to play through Dead Space 3 with me. I was used to the horror, but he was petrified. Every time my guy got scared I laughed. But when we started experiencing hallucinations in game we noticed something. I was playing as Issac, he was playing as the co op partner. We noticed that his character couldn't see my hallucinations and I couldn't see his hallucinations. That really freaked BOTH of us out. It was a brilliant touch in DS3. I hated DS3, but it's a fun co op experience and that touch with the hallucinations was honestly brilliant. We ended up making it to the end together and beating it. His immediate response once the credits start rolling? "Never again Brian never again!" He starts laughing. To this day, it's been almost a decade, we still mention it occasionally. I love horror games, I honestly haven't found a scary game that scares me anymore unfortunately since I played horror games so much. One rule I have thanks to dead space, is whenever I'm waiting for a door to open in whatever horror game I aim my gun ready to fire. I don't trust doors in horror games to this very day lol. Same with enemy corpses. I occasionally shoot them first before approaching them. DS is my favorite horror franchise.

I love all the games (2 is my favorite of all 4) and even though people like to shit on 3 I say look at it from Isaacs POV. He's already had to deal with not one but two different outbreaks. Every time I go into a store and see a huge TV on display, my first thought is how amazing it would be to play Dead Space 2 on it. The lack of a HUD makes the screen feel somehow bigger to me, and I love it. Of course the other two main games didn’t have a HUD either, but DS2 is my go-to favorite.

Dead Space 1 is a masterpiece and Dead Space 2 is perfection. Some of my favorite games of all time. Not just horror games, but games. I even like 3. Not as much as the first two but I think it's good. The beginning with the derelict warships orbiting the planet is the best part. It gives it an exploratory feel the previous games didn't have. And I like initially crashing on the planet. It has heavy The Thing vibes. But the ending I can't stand behind. I don't care how super charged his kinetic module is. He can't solo an eldritch god thing by tossing pebbles at it. Even if he had a fleet of ships backing him up I wouldn't be convinced.

Dead Space is an interesting one for me. I'm not really into horror but finally sat down to play it in October of 2012. I played for a few hours, loved it, and then got hit by Hurricane Sandy and had no power for nearly 2 weeks. The first thing I did when the power came back on was turn on my Xbox 360 to play more, but it just was too dreary to play after everything that I had experienced. I never went back to finish it but thought about it quite a lot over the years. I guess I'll wait for the remake at this point.

The ending of the dlc expands on the original ending and ends on a dark note. The game is graphically impressive to this day. I am a die hard fan of the Dead Space series. I own the series on Xbox, PS3 and PC. I think the entire series needs a Remaster with 60fps and 4K before it gets a Remake but it is what it is. I am thankful for Xbox One X backwards compatibility but, I play part 2 on PS3 because that is the only way to play Dead Space Extraction. (Yes I am aware of the interior Wii version of Extraction) How do you play Dead Space?

The only thing I really hate about being a PS guy is being locked out of PS3 games. I have wanted to replay the Dead Space Trilogy for a few years now and I can't. I was hoping a remaster trilogy would come but EA going down the remake route means that's probably not happening. When I get an Xbox for Starfield, Avowed, Hellblade 2 etc. I'll replay them on game pass. The first two games are absolute CLASSICS. Dead Space was one of my first platinums!

Will never forgive EA for gutting VG’s original idea for dead space 3. (They we’re going to dive even deeper into Issac’s mental health. But then EA shut down the original story because “mental health was too sensitive to tackle”) Then after that, gutting the studio and sending them to the EA graveyard. Their dead space 4 idea was even awesome too. Now EA seeing the value in dead space after all these years is a spit in the face to the devs and fans. So idk, bittersweet I guess when it comes to the remake.

Not trying to defend Dead Space 3's story, because it truly is the worst part of the game, but I have to point an error that was made in this vid. Norton was never working for Danik, he simply cut a deal with him to hand over Isaac and let everyone else leave. And after Isaac shoots Norton, sure he doesn't instantly tell Ellie what happened, but Carver does and says that Norton had a gun on them and was going to kill them. So, it's more on the writing being bad for Ellie, not Isaac.
