I have Hashimoto's, and I went on the AIP diet a year ago. My bloodwork is now within the norm on all my tests! I plan to stay on it going forward. Thank you for your videos. They really help.

I've read a little about AIP diet. But what does it exactly have? Is it the same Glutten free, Dairy free, Sugar free, no caffeine, salty junk food?

I see one person went carnivore. I went all-veggie, except for fish - no dairy, gluten, sugar, or processed for 6 years now. My thyroid is normal and I have no Hashimotos symptoms. Diet also reversed my RA and I have minimal symptoms, and I have no scleroderma symptoms, despite having the autoantibodies. No meds either. So, you don't have to be a carnivore. Diet can work wonders.

Thanks for sharing that... I started the AIP Diet.. a few weeks ago .. not as big a deal as I thought ( but I was glutein free for a year( not perfectly but pretty good) Now I know I will not return cuz the freedom from that Wheat intolerance is ALREADY greatly improved... - ( it appears we need to be at a breaking point when changes need to be made)) And with the help from A higher source ( mine is YAHWEH) All things can be accomplished .. shalom

I eat only healthy and cook I don't crave any sweets,only one black coffee, morning exercise, last meal 1pm. I ate as well the same before getting Hashimoto. Stress and polutated air are way more worse! Diet is only 50% , water quality, air quality. I eat diary fermented in the evening like skyr or kefir and I feel amazing. In my case Hashimoto was not because of diet because I don't even have even glucose spikes (that's also stress) for me it was stress because of bad people around me, polutated air and water, and main reason: exercise in the evening! That hurt my thyroid the most! Workouts in the evening and protein after workout, due to cortisol spikes. Now when I exercise in the morning and only walk in the first in the afternoon I am in remission. So no diet is not only the reason. More important check that is the reason of stress that destroys your thyroid. Even this perfect diet you mention and I would eat in the evening, it's stress for my body. Or wrong order of eating. And glucose spikes 😅

I've been on keto & intermittent fasting since 2017; I've done a few longer fasts, but not many. Diagnosis was Hashimoto's in about March, 2024. Your suggested food list is what I'm already doing. This is our Labor Day "long weekend," and I'm trying a 72-hour fast this weekend. I just learned that I brought down my own TSH numbers from 78 to 16.8 since March, without medication. I think the biggest thing I did to make the change was going dairy-free since March. I'm interested to see what autophagy (the 72-hour fast) does for me. I also received my first bottle of Thyrotrophin PMG last night and took the first pill, so that should be interesting too. I'm tending now toward carnivore, although I do like a fabulous salad every few days. Random observation: I got COVID for the first time ever this past July, and it seemed that in recovering from COVID I craved carbs like never before. I've been on keto & IF for so long, carbs just weren't a temptation at all, until after COVID. There's some connection there. Colleagues who also got COVID for the first time in July (we shared it!) also mentioned the new carb craving.

Just wondering why you did not mention checking selenium level and taking a selenium supplement to boost this mineral ?
@joanna-t4f
@joanna-t4f 4 ай бұрын
Because in general there is not sufficient about selenium in our food, even Brazilian nuts famous for selenium richness are not really containing it due to poor soil. Please if you supplement check blood tests, I've seen many people supplementing vitamins and minerals and not absorbing them. Blood tests are expensive but more expensive are supplements which we often don't absorb. In all thyroid diseases you need to have good level of vitamin D, ferritin,FE and B12, selenium. Avoid any supplement with vitamin mix and biotin, often people don't even know what can hurt them.

I decided to go carnivore since hashimotos is gut related My thyroid antibodies are normal, hair is fuller than ever. I will always stay away from gluten. As far as being carnivore for life, I'm not sure. I definitely will be on the spectrum of low-carb to lion diet. Oxalates & fruits have always made me itchy. I am very happy that everything is optimal

I'm the total opposite: fully plant based diet, I eat gluten, and my antibodies also dropped! (From 850 to 14 last time I checked). Just want to add I have done some life changes and use some "helpers" with Hashi so I think it's a mix of things that have helped.

One remark. Better choices are: primorse oil (due to DGLA content acting higly aintinflammatory and antiallergic). As to carbohydrates. Ketogenic diet cuts inflammation in Hashimoto more thany any other diet as some studies have shown. rT3 has nothing to do with availability of free T3 hormones. T4 and T3 are not changing on low carb diets. rT3 has some effect on hypothalamus, but real function is uknown. T3 hormones are needed for carbohydrate metabolism (and proteins as well), so when your turnover of carbohydrates and proteins is reduced (which may be considered good in many instances), T3 hormones produced by liver and kidney are not needed and bound to reverse transport protein, so they become rT3. That is why rT3 goes up. But it does not shut down T4/T3 production nor affect TSH level... In otherwords, I disagree with this autor has said at 7th minute. Othorwise video is worthy.

Lactose intolerance is almost nonexistent in northern European and Scandinavian cultures, because these folks have benefited from the evolutionary changes necessary for people trying to survive in cold clients climates, and for most that includes dairy. As you move farther south towards the equator, the incident of lactose intolerance is greater and greater until you get into West Africa where it’s something like 97% of people are like intolerant. On the other hand, sensitivity, or allergy to milk proteins, such as Casein Is somewhat prevalent.

Your video is very helpful, my only question is I thought it was bad to “cook” with extra virgin olive oil and that it shouldn’t be heated or else it loses all its positive effects and can even become carcinogenic? Can you please clarify cooking with cold pressed extra virgin olive oil. Thank you.

I have Hashimotos and developed small fiber neuropathy all over my body. The neurologists were stumped. I was already dairy free but gave up gluten and added a supplement containing vitamin B1 (benfotiamine) and R alpha lipoic acid and it’s improved 98%! It feels like a miracle to me. Good luck! 🙏🏻 ps it took two months to see results as I’ve learned nerves heal slowly.

For instance, if you're low in B12 (400pg/mL), or vitamin D (30 ng), or even insulin resistant from too many carbs or too little exercise (fasting insulin level above 5-8, fasting glucose above 90), you will never heal your nerves.

Just started AIP diet 2 weeks ago( which I first heard here by Dr Childs .. It has been a big deal but then again I've had thyroid issues for 20+years diagnosed 13 years ago ( meds were crap ( Levo) 5 years.. stopped n so I did nothing.. now I got very small growths.. with my hair failing out) .. -got on Armour / change to a functional dr.. (as these standard docs nothing except say retest in 6mos.. I think NOT... AIP was told me on my visit..( new blood tests in 6weeks with better testing to ensue) I FEELREALLY GOOD.. I already ate Biblically Clean..avoid some things but I loved sugary stuff.. WHEAT ( the stuff out here I will no longer consume for sure).. eventually HEIRLOOM WHEAT unprocessed I hope to be able to eat.. ... Then I learned I could actually reverse my symptoms .. EVEN BETTER.. I personally say thank you YAHWEH for Wisdom you impart to the GOOD DOCS .. The ability for us hear and learn to trust in the process and to heal.. !

According to Forks Over Knives, the documentary, the protein from plants is assimilated much more efficiently by the body, and the body can only process 3 to 4 oz of meat in a sitting. The rest going to waste. When I eat Whole Food Plant Based, I feel better, and can lose weight, with Hashimoto's, but my health is so fragile right now, keeping up with the prep and making the meals, is difficult for me, plus trying to feed others in the house, who don't want to eat that way. Even my surgeon bragged on how fast I healed after a surgery, with plant based protein.

Everyone has to find what works for them, but I would encourage you to research this sentence indepedently of the documentary "the protein from plants is assimilated much more efficiently by the body". This is not correct.

@antoinettejurgens1177 totally agree. Just like iron from plants (non heme) is poorly absorbed at 2-10% bioavailability, vs meat iron (heme) at 25-30%. Meat is far superior in zinc, B12 as well
