Review Fjällräven Keb Ecoshell jacket

In this video I am reviewing the Fjällräven Keb Ecoshell jacket. A well made jacket with great comfort due to the fabric used. However, the fabric has some trade offs.

Thanks! I really like the jacket too, although I really dislike that it wetts out faster than a arcteryx beta for example. But the silent and durable fabric makes up for that trade off for me! Otherwise very beautifully crafted jacket, with the leather details etc.

I guess so! But so are all other competing jackets like the Beta AR, Mammuts, Tierra's and so on. But I would definitely advise to keep an eye out for the sales.. A nice deal makes this jacket a no brainer.

What do u mean it wets out earlier? Does water get inside after standing in rain for long time? Also you mentioned it’s not hard wearing, have u seen any damage in the fabric from your wearing it outdoors? It’s very expensive, so I really appreciate you sharing your experience. Thanks you

Hi! Ik haven't seen any damages so far, except for some velcro of one cuff getting loose which fjallraven will fix. Have used it a lot with packs on skiing, hiking and everyday use and it looks great. With wetting out I mean the face fabric getting saturated by rain. That doesn't mean you'll get wet, as the membrane is still waterproof. However the top fabric will become wet, heavy and breath less.. Which eventually will also make you a bit wet from the inside. I found that the fabric wets out quite early, which means the dwr is gone quickly. Reapplying nikwaxs doesn't seem to improve it a lot. This observation was made in comparison with other hikers on say the kungsleden, wearing gore pro jackets like the arcteryx beta. I would say this is only an issue on prolonged rain, like all day long.

I also had this jacket, and i used it al the Fjall raven Classic Sweden.. Biggest mistake i made.. Wetted out after a couple of hours.. Wenn wet the breathability is gone.. I sold mine and bought a Arcteryx beta ar. This breathes superior to the fjallraven.. I walked the fjallraven classic Denmarkt with these.

Hi i have also found out that mine is not taped at bottom of chest pockets and they get damp there.Did you taped yours or had issue of water getting in ?

Water gets in in deed. It a design choice and a bad one, as water wicks in. The pockets inward are taped, but everything in the pockets will get wet

Would you move up a size to layer a fleece or down jacket? Good vid.

I have a size m (while normally wearing l) and I fit a fleece and Patagonia down sweater.. And even both but a bit tight. So no, I personally wouldn't move up a size :)

I must say I am not sold on the quality. Couple years in I had one exchange and two repairs on seems. The customer service of Fjall is great, but its too bad it is necessary on a EUR 500 jacket.

@@starthiking2871 ok, got one 2 weeks ago for a good price, will see how it holds up, so far I'm liking it. Hiked for 2 hours in heavy rain and I was comfy and dry.
