Do you think the Profitec 400 pro new or 2 year old mozzafiato v chronometro PID is a better machine? Thanks
@stevieg74033 жыл бұрын
Hi, is the build quality of these two machines equal? I’m asking because the Mozzafiato looks like the side panels are much more substantial.
@Wholelattelovepage3 жыл бұрын
Hey Stevie, Thanks for the question. The build quality is the same between the Mozzafiato and Giotto machines. The are essentially identical under the hood. The Mozzafiato does feature a thicker slab design of the side panels. Marc

I just got my rocket mozzafiato today however I don't see anything in the manual that shows how to program the PID to go from Celsius to Fahrenheit and my missing something?
@Wholelattelovepage3 жыл бұрын
Hi, Yes really unfortunate they don't tell you how in the manual. Here's how to do it: Turn the machine off. Hold down the up/down buttons on the PID while turning the machine back on. You should get F.01 in the display. Press to change between F and C. When set turn the machine off then back on again. Be careful about going beyond setting F.01. Deeper items in the menu can change the base PID technical settings. That's probably why Rocket does include this info in manual. Marc

Hey Mark one more question they didn't have the model with a walnut knobs can I order those knob separately an upgrade mine?
@diycentral7 жыл бұрын
I really, really wanted a Rocket Mazzafiato with rotary pump so I really started looking closes at all the machines locally and was not happy to fine all but one of water trays on the many machines displayed rocked badly. I don't know if the tray was twisted or the machine frame was. After that my focus shifted to ECM and Profitec. That was really disappointing because I really wanted that amazing looking side panel with integrated handles. Best looking side panel of all brands in my opinion.

Hi Marc I have a "Rocket Mozzafiato Evo type R" plumbed to a" BDST S" water filter system. We drink roughly four (4) coffees a day. My questions are: 1) how often should I change the filter considering that he water CaCO3 is 116 mg/L,. 2) Do I understand correctly that with this filtration system correctly maintained I will never have to descale my machine? Thanks
@Wholelattelovepage4 жыл бұрын
Hi Marcel, Thanks for the question. Assuming you mean a BWT filter system? If using a BWT Bestmax Premium filter cartridge replacement interval is based on input water total hardness measured in degrees. Filter should have come with a manual with hardness/capacity chart listing filter capacities in liters. If you do not reach rated capacity the filter should be replaced annually. Here is capacity info for the Bestmax Premium S from manual formatted as: source water total hardness in degrees/filter head bypass setting/filter capacity in liters 4/3/1875 6/3/1250 8/3/935 10/3/750 12/2/565 14/2/485 16/1/380 18/1/340 20/1/305 22/1/275 24/1/255 26/0/210 28/0/195 30/0/185 32/0/170 34/-0/160 Hope that helps! when I open up the steam there is a bit of a drip that has started... is that easy to fix?
@Wholelattelovepage4 жыл бұрын
Hi Kelly, Yes it should be a relatively easy fix. Likely a washer in the valve. Check our support wiki for the machine here for more info. If in US, you can give our tech support specialists a call at 585-924-7170 for assistance. Marc

Hi Marc, is the Mozzafiato type R able to take water from a water bottle which is underneath a counter top or the line water has to be pressurized in order to be plumbed in ? I read in the manual that it can take a non pressurized source with a non return valve fitted on the line but I just want to make sure with you. Ideally i would pull from a 5 gallon water jug fitted under the counter approximately 24 inch below.
@Wholelattelovepage5 жыл бұрын
Hi J-M C, Thanks for the question. Yes, the plumbed in connection can be fed from a non-pressurized water source as you describe. It's something we've done with Rocket Type R machines and other manufacturer machines with rotary pumps. Fresh out of the box on initial startup it's best to let the machine fill from the onboard reservoir before switching to waterline supply. This will help avoid priming issues. Hope that helps! Marc

Hi Marc, great video and thanks for the reviews! I just got the Giotto V machine and a technical question - do I need to let the steam go manually upon turning the machine off? (to release the pressure)? I plan to use it 2 - 3 times a day.
@Wholelattelovepage5 жыл бұрын
Michal Helbin hi, no need to release steam pressure on shutdown. I do suggest running some hot water out of the wand on a daily basis if you are only steaming. This will help reduce mineral concentration in the boiler. Marc

Is boiler material a concern when choosing a machine? I know rocket uses copper/brass end plates. And ECM/Profitec uses stainless. I want a Profitec but my concern is the longevity of the steel boilers
@Wholelattelovepage7 жыл бұрын
Anthony Campagna Hi, copper is traditional, while stainless is the future and what most manufacturers are using in high-end machines. We have not had any longevity issues with SS. Some think stainless is less susceptible to scaling than copper.

Hey guys great video! I’m looking at purchasing either a mozzafiato R or a R58. I’m just wondering what the recovery time is after brewing and steaming milk? Just concerned that the mozzafiato would be slower making drinks for a group of people. We don’t do it too often but there are times where we make 10-12 drinks in a row when entertaining. Will the mozzafiato be fine for this or is the R58 a better choice? Thanks
@Wholelattelovepage6 жыл бұрын
Hi Matt, Thanks for the question. Both machines recover quickly. By the time you have ground, tamped and loaded your next shot they are ready to go. The R58 gets a slight edge if any in recovery. Total boiler size in the M is 1.8L. In the R58 the steam boiler is 1.8L then an additional .58L brew boiler. Just more boiler in the R58. Marc

Hi Marc. Ended up getting a mozzafiato R. Love it so far! Do you know if there is a way to adjust the steam knob so the R stays upright after closing it? Seems like you really have to crank it down and seems a bit overkill as it goes way past where it actually closes the steam off. Thanks again.

Hi Marc, can you tell me what the difference between the Mozzafiatio and Giotto is apart from their design?

Hi S, Internally there is no difference between the Mozzafiato and Giotto machines. There are type V versions of each machine with vibrations pumps and Evo R versions with rotary pumps. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have more questions. Marc

Hi Marc-Great video..How would you compare the Rocket rotary to the ECM Synchronika..?
@Wholelattelovepage7 жыл бұрын
Hi JL, Thanks for the comment! The Rocket rotary pump machines in this video are heat-exchange machines while the ECM Synchronika is a dual boiler. I prefer DBs over HX machines but they are usually more $$. In general, I prefer ECM for better engineering under the hood. From a distance, the Rockets are flashy. When you look close, the finish quality is higher on the ECMs.

Out of interest did you have to perform a cooling flush to get the desired brew temps?

Hi Howard, Like most newer HX boiler machines with PID cooling flushes are not required in most cases. Marc

Hi Mark, you seem to know your way around the rocket machines, I loved the video. I recently bought a Mozzafiato V, when I use it, the pump pressure is only about 4 bar, it's nowhere near the 9-10 bar it's supposed to. The manuel only tells me how adjust the temperature, not the brewing pressure. Is there a way I can adjust the pressure myself?
@Wholelattelovepage7 жыл бұрын
Hi Ulrik, So, you get 4 bar on the gauge when pump is running with backflush disc in place? On a vibration pump machine, pressure should be adjusted to 10bar with pump running and backflush disc in portafilter. Setting to 10bar gets you ~9bar brew pressure on a vibration pump machine. Pressure is adjustable. You have to remove the exterior housing of the machine and adjust an OPV valve. It's a brass valve with flexible low pressure hose off one end which leads back to the water reservoir. We need to make a video on the procedure!

Hi, two questions: 1. What is the drip tray width? Is it the same as in Appartamento (274mm vs ?) and the bigger overall width (335mm) comes from the 3d sides? 2. What is the lower possible height of this machine I can get by changing the height of its feets (400mm vs ?)

Hey folks, I've recently purchased a Giotto machine and it seems to release sort of a chemical smell when it heats up. I removed the top of the enclosure and it seems to be coming from the boiler insulation material. Is this something that goes after some time and any idea on how long it could take? I've had the machine for two weeks now.

Hi ascosta, I've started up 100's of new out of the box machines. Occasionally, I do get slight odors - that new machine smell! Unless it smells electrical in nature I would not worry. Should abate with time and use. Marc
