We review the LG 27GS95QE OLED gaming monitor with MLA+ OLED panel, 240Hz refresh rate & 1440p resolution, occasionally comparing it to last year's 27GR95QE, the Asus XG27AQDMG OLED monitor with glossy screen, as well as the Alienware AW2725DF QD-OLED monitor.
The "Includes Paid Promotion" message in this video refers to the sponsorship by LG UltraGear who asked us to review this monitor. We accepted the sponsorship only on the condition that we get to maintain 100% editorial independence, which is why this video is exactly like our unbiased technical reviews where we point out the pros and cons of the display being tested, so potential buyers can make an informed decision.

I'm still waiting for the holy grail monitor: 27" 4K OLED with high refresh rate 😔 LG makes an ultrafine that checks all the boxes except it's 60 Hz, and there are plenty that are only 1440p. But once you see the clarity of 4K at 27" it's hard to go back. Apparently late 2025 is when they're expected.

I wonder what the hold up is? Kind of ridiculous tbh. It's almost like all the brands are in cahoots with each other in an illegal conspiring manner. There are 4K 27" OLED displays, but only 60Hz. There are also 4K 15" OLED displays, also 60Hz. Nothing higher refresh? Seems implausible that it can't be done.

I would never in a million years waste time waiting for the overrated 4K. QHD is more than adequate for this size, when placed next to a 4K display you barely see any difference, you will notice the difference however in performance native if you cant do any of those DLSS or similar blur-simulation BS.

yeah, very curious to see how the Bravia 7 compares to the 9. It's so unbelievably amazing how difficult it is for human eyes to perceive differences in contrast particularly with any ambient light. Brightness we immediately notice but contrast, you need to take the panel off and show the backlight for us to see the difference cause once it's part of the image, our eyes and brains have trouble seeing it🙂Who can tell 100,000 contrast vs 400,000 contrast or 400,000 vs infinite? @@teekanne15 For HDR, yes. I'm not sure it's essential, but Vincent does usually recommend using it where available. Basically, it tells the TV/monitor to not do any HDR tone mapping; you instead calibrate to the correct nit levels in-game. With tone mapping in the display you might have to tell the game to send a 4000 nit signal to max out your 1000 nit display. He explains it all in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jHiyZGucZqqij6c

BUT it had a dead pixel, so I am switching brands. I couldn't find this anywhere else. Thank you for your work!!

When are you reviewing the M4 iPad Pro? I'm curious about test results and your subjective impressions. But most importantly, if your 12 pro HDR settings advice applies to the tandem OLED. I've turned off true tone and autobrightness for HDR and OMFG the night skies in Apple TV+ "Earth at Night" look stunning. Those individual stars shine bright af. Looks like a planetarium with fixed fiberoptic LEDs. However, the panning cinematic shots were sturrery AF. Motion handleling looked really bad in my eyes at least. I would like to advise people interested in those 27 inch Oled monitors, to look for examples on how those monitors look at very low grey percentages, like 10 or 15%. In games like Starfield on dark scenes you can make out some kind of texture on the screen that I've read its part of how Oled screens are made out. I’ve noticed a ton of macroblocking and generally bad artifacts while streaming House of the Dragon in SDR, vs the same show in SDR on the Xbox. In fact, the issue is so noticeable that I’m returning the Apple TV 4K and sticking with my modest Series S! The compression artifacts are truly horrible and I think a comparison video of streaming app bitrate quality across a set of devices could be really informative and entertaining

With the 2023 version, you can use a cheap service remote to disable the ugly vignette brightness (CPC setting). The 2024 model cannot be used with a service remote (no IR receiver) therefore there is probably no way to disable the vignette brightness dimming. Furthermore with the 2023 version + service remote, you can also disable a few more settings to slightly increase brightness (LEA refresh, etc.). Also, you can also massively increase brightness further for all 6 window sizes (6x APL settings). Finally, you can still increase brightness even more by putting the monitor in HDR mode (HDR enable setting) while the monitor is receiving an SDR signal. These changes make a humungous difference to brightness and enjoyability of the 2023 model, humungous.

Hey Vince! Can you do a video (or do you have any specific knowledge) on OLED degradation over time? I have a CX 48" I bought in 2020 which I use for both monitor and TV/streaming machine with 29,066 hours on it and it feels like it has lost some of it's "pop" and color saturation. If it has it's done so gradually such that I didn't notice until I thought back to what it looked like when it was new and then I feel like it has definitely degraded over time. Every resource on the web gives the same answer...OLEDs are good for 100,000 hours, but that's just LG's standard answer. No one (that I can find) has done a serious study on color saturation, brightness, etc., for a quality OLED over time. There's lots of burn-in tests, but no brightness/saturation tests. Anyway, if anyone can do an objective & technical study you're the man to do it. One thing I have noticed is the pixel refresher has started coming up and requesting to run more & more often. I let it run fully and then the very next day it's back again. I think over time the panel gets out of sync and starts reporting the need to run nonstop because it can't compensate back to spec...maybe that is what is happening. Anyway, if you can add any value in this area we'd love to hear it.

Some who knows what they are talking about pkease have the patience to read this and clear it up thank you. Ok I have asked this question on KZbin and other people have asked similar questions,and no seems to answer them. Ok on the Xbox HDR calibration app,if you press the four shoulder buttons at the same time it displays a read out of cd/m² or nits in the upper right corner. Mintml,maxfftml,and maxtml. I have the 77" Samsung S95C QD-OLED. I put the the mintml to 0.0000 because having an OLED can achieve true black "zero light",which is simple enough. Ok here is where my and others confusion starts. If you read the HGIG documentation they base the mintml,maxfftml,and maxtml on a 10% pixel window. Ok on the S5C that rtings tested in game mode the peak brightness in a 10% window is 1203 cd/m² the sustained window is 1189 cd/m² the MaxTML is the 10% window correct? Because of the HGIG guidlines? On the Xbox Calibration app it says to adjust the image until all the blocks are the same brightness if I adjust it to 1203 or 1189 cd/m² like what rtings says the blocks are not the same brightness.They are the same brightness when the MaxTML reads 2500 cd/m² which doesn't sound right. Next is MaxFFTML the FF stands for Full Frame which to me would mean a 100% pixel window the "base"luminence of the screen correct? On rtings it says for a 100% window sustained is 230 cd/m² and peak is 234 cd/m². Of course though if I put those numbers in the blocks are not the same brightness they are the same brightness when the MaxFFTML is 1650 cd/m². Gamingtech and Vincent with HDTVtest say to put both MaxTML and MaxFFTML to the same value wich makes no sense why would you put the base luminence to the same luminence as the "spectral highlights"? Which numbers to a go by,is it ok if the blocks are not the same brightness? Also what is the difference between Paper White and MaxFFTML are they both not "base/average" luminence of 100% of the screen? Also do I go by the "sustained" or the "peak" numbers on rtings. I want the most accurate and best settings possible.

Hello, Does anyone know what the difference is between a LG UltraGear OLED 27GS95QE-B and a LG UltraGear OLED 27GS95QX-B? Has the QX any advantages because it’s a bit more expensive?

We need a CRT to return
@greggmacdonald9644
@greggmacdonald9644 Ай бұрын
I get it, I used CRTs in the past, but.. nah. Way too heavy AND deep, especially at modern resolutions. Better to have LCD in some form, where the pixels are so small that you can emulate various other resolutions, and have them all sharp. See, an actual use case for 8k! lol

I'm pretty sure you can order a CRT. However, they only open their factory once every couple of years when they have enough orders. That's what I've heard, but I haven't confirmed if it's true
@alexatkin
@alexatkin 17 күн бұрын
When people rave about CRT they are only talking about the top-end models that nobody could afford back then. They also never got nearly as bright as modern displays can and affordable models had huge black crush issues. A lot of us also found them uncomfortable due to the flickering, and you couldn't generally get around it as the higher the resolution, the lower the refresh rate you could use.

This 1st time LG Customer will NEVER Buy another LG Product. I was put through the ringer with my 32 Inch IN WARRANTY LG Monitor, and it took well over 3 months to get the replacement that any 10 year old could figure out what should have been done, While all this was going on, This 1st Time LG Customers 65 Inch LG TV Arrived and It NEVER got off the Truck.... I might have been able to understand if I was one of those customers that Thought they were special and deserved some kind of Special treatment but I am Not, And as a 1st time Customer I found it unbelievable how I was treated, Especially for Something that was ONLY Months Old and took so long to get a replacement, LG? Nope, NEVER Again

This person was advertising new Evo panel on the c2, claiming it had an average brigthness of 1000 nits, and the c1 only averaged 600 nits, that was the reason I bought the c2, now if You go back to c1 c2 comparison video that part is gone, he deleted it because he knows he tells teh same lie every year, he is getting paid by LG and Samsung.
