George thanks for the review ... going to pick up mine tomorrow ... 1500 SE .. 3.6 .... I thought what the heck do I need a Hemi for ... then people told me gas mileage wasn’t that much different and I second thought my decision .... You know ... after your review ... I feel much better ... basically got it for the wife’s gardening ,,, got tired of cleaning the van that got treated like a pick up ... black interior the van shows everything ... now all I have to do is hose out the box .... Thanks so much for the honest and a great review ... ur the best!!

I bought a 2017, ram 1500 4x4. work truck, pentastar. Love it . I traded a Nissan frontier after just 4 months , road like a rock,, bone jarring ride. A small amount of weight and it looked like a low rider. The Ram , rides line a big Cadillac, and works like a truck. Have it loaded with side tool boxes, ladder rack and gets 20 + highway. I may be a dodge Ram truck guy from here on.. great review at 50k, mine has under 20k on it. I had a Mercedes sprinter work van that road me to the poor house, $$$8000 in repairs first 3 years. I also lost a ton of work and time both under warranty and after warranty.. never , never Mercedes crap.. Ram truck are tough!!! And great style and mpg, and work...thank you Dodge..

Watch this video so many times. Before making my final decision on buying my truck. The Hemi was fun. But I needed the saving on gas mileage and overall daily driver needs. Went with a 2014 Bighorn V6. Overall it’s been great.

I got one of these as a company vehicle. I'm a sales rep. First Ram. 2018 Bighorn 3.6. I was apprehensive. 3 years and 66,000 later and I can say it's a great vehicle. Plenty of power and I like it so much I plan on buying it. This truck also has great suspension with rear coils as opposed to leaf springs which ride nicer and handle washboards and potholes better. Cheers and thanks for the video.

Love the truck, great choice for the majority of people looking for a full size truck. The upgraded Pentastar v6 (305hp/270tq) matched with the ZF 8spd is a fantastic power train combo, especially if you have the 4x4 package (kudos to you, it was a tad out of my range). Sometimes you just don't need a v8... We all know 3/4 of the population that drive v8 trucks do not take advantage of the power (i.e. towing, off-road terrain, cargo haul).

They have their place. I love my V6 4x4 with tow/haul mode, however. I don't tow often and it's not very heavy when I do. The V6 is plenty of truck for me. It has amazing fuel economy and performance for it's size. It's stronger than the average V8 20 years ago 🤷♂️. It's your truck so all that matters is what you think. But here's my two cents... Glad I stumbled on this, I know it's 5 years old, but it was super helpful. I have a 2018 EcoDiesel and like many things about it but everything about is expensive. Right now in the NW diesel is a $1.20 more than unleaded so even with 32 mpg cruising on the freeway it costs more. Considering a truck with the V6 as a replacement. One more thing - NOOOOO don't put those particular Wranglers back on. You'll never know how bad they are until you replace them with something different. I run Firestone Destination LE3's. Far from an all terrain tire but I need my Ram set up for comfort and fuel economy.

I have a 2021 Ram 1500 4x4 V6 quad. I've got it June 1st 2021 and I am very happy with it. No it will not throw you back in the seat with acceleration, but it is more than adequate. I pull a small cargo/camper trailer with it with no problem. Gas consumption, with Wrangler Duratracs and an ARE cap, is around 11 litres per 100 km. Just a little worse than my Jeep Wrangler with the same engine and tires. With the trailer on, it's more like 14 litres/100km. Not great, but my trailer is 6 feet high so sticks up like a barn door into the wind. Cheers.

Nice review. I have the 1500 Big Horn v6 at 52k miles. It does what I need for the most part. Got Hankook Dyna ATM and dropped 2 miles per gallon. But they grip ride, and look great. For occasional towing it does well too. Hauled a trailer with willy stationwagon and averaged 16mpg.(prior to tire change). A little more torque would be nice but not nessisary for most daily. Thanks for the full review nice and balanced. Cheers

Same here with the slow driving. One towing trip. Virginia to Texas with about 4000 lbs. The engine really rose to the occasion in tow/haul mode. Much better than I had expected. It is a LOT peppier than my 1995 F150 with 5.0 v8, and gets about double the mileage in real world driving. 😊

George, thanks for the review. You covered things pretty nicely. I'm in the market for the same truck currently, but cannot decided between the V6 pentastar or the hemi. I won't do any towing, but I've always kinda cringed at the thought of a full size truck equipped with a 6 cylinder engine. I'll rarely need the hemi power, but I do want a truck that can accelerate quickly when you do need it. So, how is this V6 in that truck? Does it have enough power to get you up to freeway speed on a short ramp? Can it accelerate on the expressway, even when you're already going 60 mph, and you want to get around someone? I really hate a vehicle that can barely get out of its own way. What do you have to say about this?
@GeorgeDEFINED5 жыл бұрын
Hey Dave, If your looking for power get the Hemi. The power in V6 is just OK. I'm not saying it's not powerful but by the questions you asked I'm thinking you may be disappointed in the V6. Best advice is test drive them both. See ya ✌🏾

I have the 2019 ram 1500 classic quad cab 3.6l it has enough power but if u want a lil speed just go with the hemi and honestly from what I've seen theres not much gas mileage difference my brother has the 2018 ram express with the hemi. I think ram says on the website that the v6 gets maybe 3 mpg better than the hemi but it also depends on how you drive it too I get around 20 combined city and highway and the hemi would probably be around 17 or so but also depends on what ur using it for so i live out in the country and i just drive mine to work everyday i dont haul stuff that much so the v6 is fine for me but i would sure love the hemi lol i have 21k on my truck and I've had no problems with it and i also change the oil myself its first ram I've had so of it keeps this up I'll definitely will stay with the ram trucks from now on

I'm not very familiar with them.
@pilsplease75615 жыл бұрын
Eco diesel is some Italian made diesel.
@ram895725 жыл бұрын
Ecodiesel is not made by Cummins. Actually development of the 1500 diesel started with Cummins but ultimately FCA and Cummins broke apart on that deal. Cummins actually then went with Nissan and made the Titan XD diesel. FCA then ended up going with the EcoDiesel made by VM Motori out of Italy. And yes the EcoDiesels have been known for high failure rates. They have had a lot of catastrophic failures with the diesel where the engine actually destroys itself. There have been other issues as well particularly related to the diesel emissions after treatment causing problems. I actually have had no issues with my 2016 EcoDiesel, but then again I have only put a little over 12k miles on it since buying it new.

Thanks man. Great ride. I'm seriously considering the 3.6 v6, but I have a 20 foot boat and 16 foot camper that I pull at different times. The camper lighter than the boat but had worse wind drag. That's really the only questions I have about it. Right now I have an older Ram 1500 with the 4.7 v8. It has less hp than this truck but more torque.

@@wkualum3194 yep, 4x4 and my wife says I drive slow. Honesty tho, I don't really push the truck. When I first got the truck I had the realtime mpg gauge on all the time and paid attention to what the mpg did when I was driving. I coast into stops, slowly give it gas from stop and the same on the highway to speedup.

Btw. I bought a 2016 quad cab v6 bighorn. Its a very nice truck. Just a little disappointed with the mpg. The previous owner must have had a lead foot as it was about 14mpg from 22000 miles. Yikes! Maybe lots of towing? Idk. But like I said I am averaging about 16.7 since the day I got it 2 weeks ago. Thats with 50 miles at 75-80 mph on the interstate and in the city I'm at about 50 mph not dogging it. I wish I could get 22 mpg. @GeorgeDEFINED5 жыл бұрын
When I look for a vehicle my top factors are Reliability and MPG. Hence the look at the Ridgeline. The V8 is a great truck. This is my primary vehicle and I average 22.5 MPG my man. The V8 can't touch that MPG. If you want to go fast and heavy towing get the V8 if you want something economical, a daily driver and light towing V6 all the way.
