The Legend of the Titanic is a 1999 Italian animated film directed by Orlando Corradi and Kim J. Ok. The film is a very loose adaptation of the RMS Titanic sinking and featured several fantasy elements such as anthropomorphic animals.

Historically, there were enough lifeboats to save half of the total passengers onboard the Titanic, which is estimated to be 2224, but in the film they say there's room for everyone. Over 1500 people died that night.

I'm shocked that the director of these Titanic films didn't do a WW2 movie in the same style. How about the obviously racially stereotyped Allied and Axis armies, say the Allied Powers, all consist of an army of squirrels goes up against armies of Nazi bears led by a bear Adolf Hitler,, but... Hitler is being mind controlled by a dragon that's never explained? Oh and it turns out that nobody really died and that the moral of the movie is not to litter? It makes as about much sense as these Titanic films, could be just as disgustingly offensive to the people that died, blatantly inaccurate and fucked up as the Titanic films and I thought up this comment in just a couple of minutes.

Fun fact, the main mouse appears to be wearing a very specific undershirt. White and blue stripe fatigues were most commonly worn by sailors in the Soviet Navy, usually underneath their actual uniforms, but it was customary to lower the collar to expose the top of the shirt. You know, I feel like I could write a better version of this, one that’s actually more realistic and plausible. All the main characters would be the same, but there would be no talking mice or dolphins, no evil shark gangs, no octopus named Tentacles, and no overblown “Save the Whales” message. Juan would look for Elizabeth on the ship just so he could return her glove, and Connors would be the one to comfort Elizabeth when she’s crying on the bow of the ship. Also, people would actually die in my version, including Ronnie, and Connors would be traumatized because of it.

I've made an observation: on the lifeboats, they're labeled as the SS Titanic. The real Titanic was the RMS Titanic, RMS standing for Royal Mail Service, cause it was actually a mail ship that happened to be tailored to transporting people as well. So, they didn't even get the ship's name right! (Thanks to Tasting History's series on the Titanic and the meals they served to everyone on board)

S.S stands for Screw Steamer, which Titanic was. So, it's not entirely inaccurate, as both are technically true. And the lifeboats did have S.S Titanic written on them, as they were made before the ship's title was changed to RMS. I think I can justify a bit why Elizabeth's father changed his tune about her refusal to marry Maltravers the second time she said it: If living with my parents has taught me anything, it's that parents are more willing to listen to their children when they express what's bothering them calmly. The first time, Elizabeth was putting down Maltravers and could have come off to her father as whiny and back-talking him, but when she tried again, he was more willing to compromise since she was being more respectful and calm about it. As for why the stepmother didn't just dump the father and marry Maltravers herself, the father's the one with the authority over the area Maltravers wanted to hunt whales in, so marrying the stepmother wouldn't have gotten him what he wanted.
