What a great interview. This podcast episode was excellent overall. This Smallville episode plus the next one, had me crying big time.

Smallville had many talented people working on it and this scene is a good example of that brilliance🙂

An amazing episode. The scene where Johnathon dies was mentioned on WatchMojo KZbin channel as one of the saddest moments in a TV series. It was number 3 on the list. Supernatural of course was on the list but received an honorable mention. Yes this episode was amazing 🤩 but it does get even better as the series progresses. All the episodes before this in season 5 whether they were good or bad freaks of the week, etc had to happen to make way for the buildup to this episode. Those episodes had to exist in a 22 episode season. I for one love the freaks of the week so I don’t understand why some have issues with them. Season 6 is my favorite season hands down. Mainly because Clark is much more darker that season IMO and is no longer the naive, innocent fanboy we as the audience were used to seeing. And as a massive Chloe fan we get so much more content with them and it was fun to see. 6x11 “Justice,” was by far IMO the best episode to ever air in a TV series next to Supernatural 4x01 “Lazarus Rising,” which had ratings that went sky high. The whole Clana drama just go way too much for me this season and Lana should have died in “Reckoning,” for good. As Dean Winchester would say “what’s dead should stay dead.” Then again he made deals so there goes that line lol 😂 nature will always find a balance. If light exists so must the darkness. Good can’t exist without evil. Magic 🪄 always comes with a price. Clark has many abilities but even he can’t resurrect people from the dead. Love the podcast please have Jensen on Soon! ❤️❤️❤️

I agree that this was not the peak of the series. It was a fantastic, sad episode, but there are many great episodes after this throughout the rest of the series. I mean, yeah, you could've ended Smallville after 5 seasons, but I don't think a majority of fans regret that it went to 10 seasons.

Hated it, never forgot it. Jonathan Kent was like a tv father figure to a lot of us in our teens growing up with Smallville. Never saw it coming and it cut deep, Greg too dismissive like it was nothing, "oh he comes back at the end" really annoying. The worst is the following episode where the majority of the episode is not focused on the death of Clark's father but sidestepped until right at the end of the episode when Clark walks in and see's Martha watching the home movie of Jonathan and Clark when he was little and Clark breaks down. Now that was incredible. Tom killed the facial expression, changes. Man of steel, showing he's human. One of smallvilles most iconic scenes.

Couldn't agree more. I was devastated when Jonathan died. He was the best dad character I've ever seen on TV.
