The reason deer keep doing crazy shit like bursting into shops and hitting cars is because they don’t have great vision, and their reaction to being scared is usually to just sprint at top speed in the opposite direction to the scary thing. When you think about how often people walk into glass doors/floor-to-ceiling windows, and consider the fact that deer see poorly and can’t really understand what glass is, the frequency with which they yeet themselves through windows makes a lot of sense.

Yes they have poor vision but great hearing and sense of smell. Turkeys have great vision but poor hearing. Which is why you usually see them in fields together. As the deer will hear and smell anything the turkeys don't see. And vice versa

8:10 I had a deer do something similar. A young buck sprang out of a ditch, and started running alongside my SUV. I thought he would dash ahead, so I laid on my brakes and horn to try and avoid hitting him. Instead the idiot thing decided to jam his antlers into the wheel of my still moving vehicle, and snapped his own neck. Scared the hell out of me, but my car was okay.
