Rewind to Christmas 2013 ║ Mills Family Archives │ Large Family Vlog

From the Mills Family Archives, this Christmas video was taken in 2013 just a few weeks before Sophia was born. This was the last Christmas Grandma Jane was able to leave the nursing home. In fact, it was the last time our family ever saw her outside the nursing home walls. Mr. Solomon was not quite a year and a half old and was a Cutey Patutey! All the kids were so little and cute! Tom took all the video. (Grandpa Frank shares Tom's love of technology evidenced by all the questions he had about the video camera.) I thought it was funny that Tom took video of me opening all of my "Leveled" gifts, but he didn't bother to show what was inside. :) He did show my "big" gift, which was a tea kettle that apparently became known as the "Hitler Teapot" because of its uncanny resemblance to the dictator. The music in this video is a bit odd sometimes. We took this video pre-KZbin and had music playing in the background that I've tried to mask so I won't get any strikes on my channel. I'm sorry if it's not music to your ears!

This was so fun! I can't believe how young they all look. Asher just looks like smaller version of today. Solomon is just a doll. It must be odd watching and knowing that two people are missing, and soon to be three. What special memories.

It does go so fast! We found these videos on our old video camera when Tom was making the video for Grandma Jane's funeral. I hadn't seen this one (or the next Christmas, which was also on there.) It was amazing to see how much Thomas has changed in a few short years and the rest of them will be coming along right behind him.

That was a fun project. We were planning out first unassisted birth a few weeks after Christmas so I made all of that stuff for Eden. What wasn't in the video was the doll I altered to teach her how the baby is inside of a mommy's belly. I made a little bag that opened and could fit the baby inside. Part of the bag was a placenta with an umbilical cord that attached to that baby's tummy with Velcro. Her kit included plastic scissors and "cord clamps," a toy doppler that Tom made, an ultrasound picture and lots more baby care things. It was fun teaching her about birth and babies with it.

For awhile they all had shirts embroidered with our company name like Tom. When they outgrew them, we didn't replace them because it's much more expensive than buying plain polos.
