Dear Greg , He is just fucking right!...i quit playing guitar 40 years ago.... I got a new Tele in 2018, took out My old 100W Amp full of spider webs from storage, because of You... I hate You :D! The thing is... You can just play anything...and that's what I always wanted as a kid but could never come close to. Would be great to see You jam with Jeff Beck as You two have this thing in common of creating sound with any part of your hands flesh, as if actually it was your body creating sound rather than the instrument.

Yeah, it's that either/or thing-he's so good that that sometimes there are thoughts of this is pointless why bother? But he's so inspiring that he does make me want to improve and do the work. Robben Ford is also a longtime favorite who does the same thing. Yes, we are blessed that Greg is out playing and knocking us out with his brilliance!

Greg is a Wisconsin legend. I have been in the scene here for many years and he has a rabid fan base from many walks of life here…especially in all of the music and band circles here in Wisconsin. I have seen him play with a number of different artists and, despite his incredible guitar chops, he still knows how to serve the song and the artist he is playing with extremely well. He is also so ridiculously funny. We are a blessed bunch here that we get to enjoy the musicality and guitar “guru-ness” of Mr. Greg Koch!
@Marcus_C51
@Marcus_C51 Жыл бұрын
Cool to hear your info, I didn't know he was from Wisconsin. That explains it doncha know! Yeah, not only is he a virtuoso guitarist he is so funny he could be working stand-up! (And he basically does when he gigs anyway-ha ha). I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't even know about him until 8 months ago and how is that even possible? My loss most definitely. Saw one of his live vids and, of course, was completely blown away! There are alot of killer players who play legit chicken pickin' country but not many of them can play superb blues/rock too. Roy Buchanan comes to mind, Tom Bukovac too. I'm sure Brad Paisley or Vince Gill could destroy with some serious rock riffage if they wanted to. Of course there's always the possibility that many of the telemonsters can play rock convincingly but don't often get the opportunity/gig to do so. I played a year of straight country and woah, did I get an up close and personal educational experience! Gained a total appreciation of the style and country musicians are some of the nicest people around!

THE KOCHNESS MONSTER !! I saw him live this summer . During the show I got a lil emotional cause I knew I was witnessing greatness . The promoters for the show didn't promote this show . There was 30 ppl in a 300+ size venue . Greg and his band mates Dylan "Big Deal" Koch and Toby "The Tickler" Marshall still played like their life depended on it .

Love the nickname-ha ha. THAT is a keeper! Sorry to hear about the bad promo, I swear if promoters and record companies had any clue about what they're supposed to be doing, maybe musicians of Greg and his band's caliber would be much better served. And better paid! And yes, it doesn't surprise me that they still killed with only a small crowd. They are totally dedicated, love their music and that's what it's all about!

Greg is great, funny as hell and always inspired. He’s not just some knock off, sure he is an encyclopedia of the great players but he always puts his own unique spin on all of the styles he plays. Encyclopedia is a very apt word. Hendrix? He has no problem conjuring Jimi vibes, Danny Gatton, Buchanan, Chet Atkins, the three blues Kings etc etc. he's assimilated all of those players styles and has his own rather jawdropping style as well. I saw Greg in Rotterdam (Netherlands), performing at a shop and I was impressed. Since then I follow him on FB. He's a great player. I even bought a Tele (not only for Greg, but he did inspire me). Hope to see him in the Netherlands.

Great video, Rhett. I love Greg’s playing and sense of humour. He’s hilarious! I first heard of him in 2005 when I bought a Guitarist Magazine in Ireland and it came with a DVD of Greg teaching his tune “spank it”. 17 years later and I still can’t play that tune 😂😂

Got to see him at NAMM 2020 and then caught the trio that weekend at a small club. Mind.totally.blown. And yes, super nice guy that would loan you his power washer if you needed it.

I really enjoyed your pentatonic mastery course. I might pick this one up, too.
