First of all I would like to say thanks for the review. I would like to inform you that the sight plate is already being addressed. Second it’s a 1/10 twist. I check my buttons used in production gun. Second I test fired in the Philippines my hand sweat didn’t have your issues and I shot 1000s of rounds during development. Barrel compatibility it’s not supposed to be full compatible but you can fit a match barrel to the gun. It was never supposed to be drop in. Having said that we are looking at making it easier to use Glock barrels. Thank you again. Armscor alway strives to improve.

Good morning Martin - thank you for taking the time to watch and comment on the video. I'm glad to hear the issues are being addressed. The pistol is this close to being truly special. Regarding barrels - maybe it's a rolling change - the barrel in my example has 1:16 stamped on the test fire case envelope and it's listed in my manual as well. If you guys make a "pro match" version of the gun - I'll happily pre-order one.

Wow cool if thats really him, lols?! Ok if thats really him then kindly take a look of my wishlist for your STK 101 or STK 200 or STK 2.0: - For the love of mother earth dont mold the rear sight on the optics plate please, want a decent proper back up sights if my red dot fails. - Make the aluminum frame a one piece mold please - textured checkering on front and back straps - truly compatible with og glock mags and aftermarket versions too - fibre optic front sight - a bit larger mag release button - pic rail stopper on the frame more recessed to accept other longer weapon lights to sit flush on the trigger guard properly - other sizes compact and sub-compact options - threaded barrel compatibility or directly manufacture it with a threaded barrel already in it ala tactical version - factoring all that but still maintaining more better competitive pricing

The gun does accept different slides however the issue is the breach block (mainly the barrel). The gun has a particular block angle that only accepted barrels chamfered at that angle. Outside of that the gun will work with standard glock slides.

Quite frankly it is refreshing to see a video calling it like it is. I see all kinds of manufacturer sponsored videos where their product is better than sliced bread and canned beer. That's an older person analogy BTW. You youngsters can look it up. The barrel issue should be pretty straight forward. Offer it at cost to those who bought the gun already and change it in current and future production. The lack of texture tome is a minor issue given the ease of using something like skateboard tape. I could deal with it. The optics cut is simply inexcusable for a modern production gun. Kudos for thinking to provide it but if it can't work then that simply sucks and really looks bad for the manufacturer. Fixed sights need to be something you can get aftermarket. No excuse for that.

That's nothing new though. The competition circuit has been influencing guns for a *long* time. If we look at the 1911 for example, the beaver tail grip safety with an extension, broad/long thumb safety that's easier to ride, extended mag catches, lowered/flared ejection ports, checkering on the front strap, various different sight cuts and arrangements available that were never employed in the military, flared magwells, and a host of other modifications that have since become standard fare were all devised for/by competition shooters. Of course influence comes from military and law enforcement as well as concealed carry preferences, but competition shooters have always been something of a driving force as well.

Great video! Thanks! I have one. 200 rounds no failures. But I have only shot 115 FMJ out of it. It did hit a little low, and I figured to change the front sight, no big deal. I had no illusions about it being a carry gun or a competition gun at all, so no disappointments there. For me, as a new design, it was a novelty and range toy purchase. It does feel amazing. It shoots amazing. It's really odd when you pick it up and expect polymer and it's cold. It isn't even like most other metal pistols as there are no grip panels so the whole grip feels cold. I couldn't figure out what was so different for a few days until I realized that. No plastic or wood grips, the hand is 100% in contact with metal. The side panel texture is brilliant. The front and back are not without texture to be fair, just not down the center. If this is a problem a thin strip of grip tape will help. But the rest of the grip all around is excellent IMHO. To be fair, no other maker has made anything close to this. Inasmuch as it is a Glock "clone", it also isn't if you catch what I mean. Certainly if they come out with a 1/10 twist barrel I will buy one. Other than that it needs nothing for me. I believe the manual states there is a 500 round break in so one need not wonder about that.

I’ve yet to receive my copy of the STK100 since I live several kilometers from Rock Island’s manufacturing facility in the Philippines (firearms processing here is slow as hell). I’ll keep an eye out on what’s stated on this review once I got my hands on it since this review actually puts my expectations back to earth since they hyped it here locally when they released it in the Philippine market three weeks ago. If RIA managed to put out a second generation of this gun, I’m hope that they’ll keep the constructive critisisms in mind and apply it..hopefully.
@somebrains54313 жыл бұрын
It would be nice if RIA offered a 1:10 barrel for free to existing owners. Say $60 up charge if you buy one of these down the road used or nos for $350.

The videos from PI are on KZbin. They really hyped up the release there. But I suppose RIA is a big deal there in any case. Gen 2? I am hoping they make 1:10 barrels available for this one. To me the grip issues are no big deal, that's what grip tape is for if one has issues with it. If you are that close, why don't you go there and talk to them for us? Ask the pertinent questions. I have a feeling if there are any other barrels to be had you will have first access to them anyway.

Just had this gun a few weeks ago and went straight to the range. It shoots great! I really like that the weight the frame adds. It’s not my EDC, but for a range gun, it’s so much fun to shoot. One thing I hate about the gun are the screws holding the frame together get really oily. I dont over lube my gun, so the oil probably come from my hands? Really difficult to clean the oil from those deep screws, very annoying. But for the price, I have no complaints. Glocks/most firearms here in the PH are priced double than in US. On top of that you have to pay crazy amount for papers, license, permits.. Good thing RIA prices are the same with US prices, so we really get the value of it.
@xvprototype1238823 жыл бұрын
I’ve personally carry the gun and it works well for my needs. Not disagreeing with the following issue of the magazines; it should serve well enough for carry under basic needs. Hopefully RIA will improve on this concept for future developments.

@TheHumbleMarksman3 жыл бұрын
balance absolutely matters
@kuuryotwo51533 жыл бұрын
I could see where more mass toward the muzzle would be a problem. If there's more weight being thrown about when the muzzle flips, it's going to take more force to control it and make it return to zero. How much of a problem that is will depend entirely on how much kick/energy you're having to control as well as just how out of balance the weapon is.
@alexxu30042 жыл бұрын
@@kuuryotwo5153 that's not how it works. your recoil force is the same, your bore axis is the same, so the fliping moment stays the same, a heavier front will have larger rotary inertia which given the same fliping moment it will flip less.

For $520 I too would be utterly disappointed to learn that a gun will only work with 115gr ammo, but I would be pretty happy with an optic-ready glock clone for under $300 since most practice ammo sold is 115gr and good self-defense 115gr 9mm does exist. For a little more you can get a p320 or a walther pdp. Hard pass on this one.
@FernandoChaves3 жыл бұрын
Or you can buy the p320, the PDP, and the STK100 for fun....Why buy one? This was part of a 3 pistol purchase for me, and the other two are really well proven. I certainly wouldn't advise such a new design as one's only pistol, regardless of what online reviewers say, so if that's the deal then definitely get something very well proven and established. I got mine on sale, so I paid a little less. Regardless, I am happy with it, it's a fascinating pistol. The way it feels and the way it shoots is really great. Really "un-Glock" to me. I certainly didn't expect a EDC or competition gun. I will be really curious to hear anything RIA has to say about why they chose that twist rate. Seems like a dumbass maneuver. They had enough development time to iron that out I think.

Spoke with the gunsmith directly and through email several times ( really nice guy) and he checked everything over and discovered my barrel was miss cut and it was replaced not with the original 1:16 twist but with 1:10 twist. I worked as a patrol deputy for a sheriff’s office that issued the first batch of M&P45s. I had worked for two other agencies before becoming a deputy, and qualified with a Sig and a Glock in the mid to high 90’s, but failed to qualify with the M&P 3x! I was so confused and frustrated why my shots looked like 00 buck at 30 yards, because I had never shot that bad. I did some research and realized it was probably the twist rate (along with the horrible trigger, unfamiliar grip angle, and these were pretty worn out).

So, first off, I thank you for an honest reveiw. Secondly, I have never owned or fired a Glock. I got this because I was looking for a 9mm that would fit into my existing setup. I have a S&W in the calibre but, after I built my AR chambered in 9, chose a setup whtat would take Glock, rather than Colt. I was disappointd that P-MAG wouldn,t work unless an extended mag. I feel like this guy shoots great and feels great. I live in hot climates and I get the grip thing, but I have a weak grip, and it still seems to perform. I'm not a competitive shooter, so, if you are thinking about this in that category and you don't hate it, I feel like it's probably really good. My boy at the range didn't resond well the first time we shot it, but second time he liked it. Third time, he damn well looked not just impressed, but happy. You know, when you get a pistol that just shoots like butter... It makes you smile. It made him smile, it makes me smile. I will look into that twist rate thfor sure. Thank you for your reviews.

ya, i purchased one for my business to test compatibility with oem glock parts as well as our own. holy crap, it was a mess. i spent months trying to get the thing reliable with an aftermarket trigger, first off, as the unbranded trigger housing, connector and bar were not consistent with oem measurements, so parts swapping became the name of the game. finally i stuck in an oem connector, trigger housing unit and bar, and it was running. now to the next problem, the slide and barrel. from the factory they fealt rough, and i wanted to build a 34 so i put one of our slides on the frame with a rival arms barrel. again, it was a mess as THM stated, the barrel was a no go, until i took to machining it to fit the lugs to the locking block with the angles that RIA pulled out of thin air. After 3-4 months of shooting and fitting, i finally got the frame to work with a setup that i wanted. now its 100% reliable, but, the effort required to get this thing to be as reliable as it should have been from the start, i wouldn't recommend unless you have the knowledge and patience to get it running.

Mine is picky on mags of various brands, as far as dropping free. Had to buff a few with steel wool to dedicate to this pistol. The gun needed a good cleaning when it arrived. Mine shoots well, I like the added weight. I’m only 100 rds in. Is it really 1:16 twist? After market Gen 3-4 g17 barrels aren’t compatible ( tried two brands). Haven’t added a vortex venom yet.

I can't seem to find anything wrong with this pistol myself I just wish somebody would be honest and say this is either a jump pistol or it's not because unless it's a Glock you got some people out there who will never like anything else but those and then you got people who were Springfield fans and then you've got people that are other fans of this and that I just wish honestly that people would buy what they like and if they don't like these particular gun just stay off of these videos you know what I'm saying I mean I bought one of these guns and I love the look of it I love the feel of it it's not too heavy it carries comfortably I love how it racks I just I love the gun itself and I have no complaints or issues with it so far

I have a 1-16" twist Wilson full fit g19 barrel that puts 150gr syntech into 1.5" at 25 yards. The early m&p shot like crap because of early unlocking. 1-10 twist is better for inline penetration / terminal ballistics.

My thoughts? It's supposed to be compatible with most Gen 3 components, so I wonder if there's not an aftermarket barrel that is direct fit and won't require 'massaging' to fix the twist rate issue. I'm not above doing a little barrel fitting if necessary, but I'd need an AM barrel and STK barrel in hand to determine if that was even remotely feasible. Being stuck with the factory barrel wouldn't bother me too much though, I tend to prefer lighter weight faster rounds so I could live with it. The grip on the front/backstrap being slippery is a little disappointing...but I own a checkering file, and I'm not afraid to use it. Depending on the exact fitment issues with the slide, I could quite possibly say the same for it, though I don't currently own or run pistols with optics cuts so...yeah, a big part of my interest in the STK is to dip my toes into pistols with optics. I could probably run the Vortex and be happy with it for a long time before I determine it needs to be replaced. And with respect to the trigger I'm a little disappointed Rock Island went with a basic Glock trigger. Again, they said Gen 3 Glock 17 components *should* fit, so hypothetically speaking this should be an issue that can be resolved with AM parts. But if they were gonna 'fix' Glock's design, I really wish they had hit the one thing non-glock users complain about second only to the way they point - the trigger. Overall I do still want to get my hands on one, but I really appreciate the in depth look pointing out the things they fell just short on, so I know what will need adjustment when I do stash away the funds to pull the trigger.

Wish I'd have seen this review before I purchased the STK100. It's in transit to me now so I'm stuck with it. The other 3 reviews I saw raved about this gun. For $360 I guess it'll suffice for now. I REALLY hope they'll come out soon with a 1/10 barrel I can get to swap out. Have to stock up on the 147gr till then.

You can find these now for $300 to $400 thinking about getting one and just changing out the slide. All my other Glocks have skateboard tape on them so that’s not a big deal for me.

I've just handled this gun at my LGS. I disagree about the grip being slippery. I think the grip texture is adequately done and not very abrasive. The gun balances so well and feels solid. I will hold off on the accuracy issue until I actually do a live fire. I am also very disappointed that the iron sights does not provide any sort of adjustment and the Glock's top end does not fit. The gun has a lot of room for improvement. I surely hope RIA will address these negative issues. I think the barrel twist is optimized to take advantage of 115gr ammo's availability and price point.

Wish I had seen the video before my purchase. Having issues with Glock clone mags staying in and tremendously difficult time getting an straight answer from technical support concerning the optics cut. Asked multiple times if this was a doctor cut and every time was told it works with Vortex …. Frustrating to say the least that there apparently is no conversion plate out there that will work with this unique cut. What is most frustrating is that they obviously knew about this issue an had their tech support hide the ball.

Its actually worse. I begrudgingly purchased a Vortex Viper ( which is actually shorter than the Venom customer support told me would fit) and it is too long and won’t sit properly. Now I have a red dot I didn’t want and a “optics ready” slide that nothing fits. I am reaching out to Rock Island since I think they owe me a new slide. Also my barrel is 1:16 twist. Appears like I got one of the early models with several issues.

STK100 will not fit OEM barrels and other aftermarket barrels unless doing some major fitting. I have to file off some locking and barrel to make the barrel fit. Ghost connector and taran tactical connector would not work on the gun due to their slide connector disconnect ramp is located backward. You need to modify the slide or trim the connector arm. Timney trigger will not work on the STK100, trigger bar needs more clearance to make it work. After dremeling, I manage to fit the Timney trigger but trigger safety would not work, lack of material on the bottom of the trigger entrance area. I used epoxy and plastic shim to build the material to make trigger safety to work. My OEM barrel chamber was off slightly, chuck the barrel to the latte, it clearly shows me it has straight barrel/rifling but the camber is off. RIA seriously needs to post what is compatible and improve the quality control. What is "90% compatibility" comes from?

I tried several Glock slides and barrels. None of the stock Glock slides and barrels worked. One Double Diamond Glock 34 barrel almost worked. It will never work with 147 grain reloads. My 160 gr load would tumble every shot.

WOW.... what a damn shame..... I was really hyped on this....metal framed Glock clone is something I've wanted since I bought my first Glock 19.3, prior to the Gen 4 being released. They really dropped the ball 'cause they could've absolutely killed the market with this version. On another note.... would you please review a RI 2011 Tac Ultra... the high capacity 2011 9mm/22TCM? I could care less about the 22TCM but I've always wanted the 2011. Just never known anyone that's had one to shoot.
