"You Don't Know Me".....Ray Charles was the Master of this timeless tune he made famous backed up by the fabulous Ray Charles Singers... But Richard Manuel brings me to tears everytime I listen to his voice singing this song; Why?.....U can even hear Ray in his voice.....Richard did what Jimi Hendrix often said what beautiful music had the power to do,...reach down in and touches your very soul. A beautiful song sung by a beautiful person ❤ who left us too soon. Your soul is at peace Richard. Missing you still in 2021.

I had the honor of sitting front row left at a Philadelphia concert by The Band in 1971! I can't even tell you what it was like sitting only yards from Richard Manuel and his piano! He just glowed... he had an aura that was just amazing! They played everything from their first three albums except for "All La Glory" and "Whispering Pines" haha the 2 songs I wanted most to hear them perform "live"!!! They also played "Don"t Do It" and a few other non-studio songs. RIP Richard.

What's sad is that the very talented Hawks' performed in relative obscurity (except for Torotonians) from 1958 to 1964, and then as The Band from 1965, and really weren't recognized nationally until "The Last Waltz" of 1976, by which time Robertson had had enough of touring and left the group for a while. Every one of The Band members played at least one instrument very well. Cut to 2024 and talentless Taylor Swift makes $millions filling stadiums with trash noise no one will remember a few hours later, let alone days.

Byron Warfield Richard is NOT & has NEVER BEEN “underrated” !! FFS...critically acclaimed, dearly loved & deeply appreciated by peers & fans alike ! “Richard is/was the Band’s secret weapon” -Eric Clapton. Widely acknowledged as the Band’s (one of the great vocal groups) principal singer...comparisons are unnecessary & irrelevant. The use of the word “underrated” in public forums is in fact “criminally” overrated !
